On arrival we were checking in just as breakfast was opening. This is the worst breakfast I have ever seen. The orange juice is weaker than **** and the food is as fresh as a fat kid's armpits running up a hill. The rooms were basic and the charge for air-con is awful, as... more

The Ionis has had some bad press for charging for damages, so we were a little apprehensive when we booked, but the last-minute price was too good to resist! The form you have to fill out on arrival is a little daunting, as you have to detail any imperfections in your room.... more

The truth
Ionis hotel is beautiful it really added to our zante experiance, however, it was not worth our money, time or worry! So many people got ripped off with rips in curtains we meet a young group of girls who got charged 400€ for a SMALL hole in a curtain they did not rip. Two girls in our party got charged 95€ for a SCRATCH on their airconditioning remote control! it was ridiculous! the reception staff were two of the rudest women i have ever met, and when it came to talking to the hotel manager she pretended her english was poor, but we knew better. she didnt have the time of day for anyone! she was after our money and thats the end. Cannot complain about security, Voyteck, he was amazing, had some of the best laughs with him and knowing he was close by made me feel safer then i ever have before hes a top bloke, the bar staff were very welcoming and lively also! the hotel its self is kept in mint comdition and was very clean n sturdy however i would never recommend this hotel to anyone! you cant relax knowing your every move is being watched closely! zante was an amazing holiday for me and my girls, it was our first holiday away and i wish you all an amazing holiday i hope u can gain some of the memories we did however, think and be cauctious when chosing your hotel. Hope you enjoy your holiday
a complete rip off
on departure every one in our party was charged with items we had not damaged. they said curtains were damaged by us but had to come in with step ladders take dow the curtains and find some small hole that they say we had done, how the hell was we suppose to chech their scam who carries step ladders in thier suitcase. lots of other guests were being charged with ridiculous items. a complete scam so watch out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to the Luxury Big Brother House
4 Lads 5th - 12th June 07 You could not ask for a better location 200yds from the Beach and 100yds from the Bars and Clubs. Pizza Hut & KFC on front of Complex. Continental Breakfast Included. Sorry but i was not up at this time of day. Pool area Small, but clean water and surrounding areas, lilows provided any enough beds. Good selection and well cooked food from poolside bar. Open from 10am 'til 11pm with a daily special. Pool bar & Reception staff ENGLISH very Helpfull & Friendly, However you cannot take any of your own food or drink around the pool. Hotel Bar open from 11pm -8 am YES 24 hour Drinking Security - Cameras Everywhere BIG BROTHER HOUSE Security Guard, Top Bloke but trust me make sure you dont upset him. The Hotel will not allow Guest or 'Friends' after 10pm so dont even try!!! But during the day no problems pool side. Rooms. Well decorated, basic. Just like most standard Marriotts or Hiltons back in the UK, BUT... On arrival you are give a list to check any room damages. Well check and write EVERYTHING, down as you pay a €50 deposit each. and when you check out the cleaners search the room for problems. We thankfully (4 lads) had wrote every little thing down scratches, marks on wall, shower screen, Curtain, QUILT covers and count beads on lights and coat hangers. HONESTLY you may look like your being fussy but it will save you hassle later on. Look at the price list opposite reception. As i said we were ok but saw other groups being charged on Checkout as the Owners Mother apears on Reception for the Morning. Despite it being a Luxury Hotel The cleaners were average, Somehow we recieved clean Towels Every day. (our mates next door did not tho') Ask for a pool facing room on booking. Also sorry to our fellow guests as for the days when we caused havoc in and around the pool when we got a football out... using ssunbeds as goals. There is Air Con but another additional charge at €6 per day but you do need it. The safe is also a must at €3.50 per day The Hotel is a 2wentys hotel, but no activities pool side (Thankfully). You only see the reps when they are selling evenings out or excurtions, but not arround on check out (Coincedence?). We did not book onto their evening events - do it cheeper yourself. Near By I also recomend... Cocktails & Dreams (Busy Between 11:30pm & 3am) Cherry Bay (night club busy busy 3am til 6 or 9am on Fri/Sat) G Spot, Zero. Eating: Tasos - Greek restaurant , VBusy good selection, located on beach. Chevys on strip - I recomend The pasta. Pauls Bar - Good Brunch Selection (BRITISH) Must... sportsbar - to watch any Sports there is 2 Crazy Golf - next to Go-Karts, good 90mins entertainment. In evening beware of the small children selling bands & Hats on the street, as mate had wallet taken from pocket. We had one week, 4 lads aged 25-27 & had a Great week. New liver Please...
Rip off on last day!
The hotel was lovely and much better than any of the hotels we've stayed in with 2wentys before but please please be careful!! You pay a 50 euro deposit when u get there and a form to check everything in ur room that u have to sign we just checked everything was there and nothing was broken but we had 2 rooms, 1 room got charged 290 euros for a duvet cover that had some glue and paint on it less than an inch long which wasnt us and then the other room got charged 80 euros for a bedside lamp that had a bit that was less faded than the rest of the lamp they claimed it was make up! Not something that I'd thought to have checked for when signing the sheet so just make sure u check absolutely everything is perfect!!
not so 18-30
I stayed in aug 2006 and as others have said the hotel it self is nice, and situated in a prime location. One big problem the hotel is run like a prison camp, not allowed to leave the hotel with your room key 50 euro deposit when you arrive. No loud noise in the hotel past 12pm and no people from other hotels allowed in the rooms, people have to remember this is a 20wentys hotel not a saga holiday. Others have mentioned the chargers that build up against any damages, missing items ect, we checked out on the last day the room was fine but they managed to find a fault with the cheap shower hose and charge us 50 euros to replace this (no fault with the hose what so ever). The hotel is spoilt by the way it is managed maybe if them spent some of the money the gain on entertainment the atmosphere would improve but no such luck!!. i would say this is not for people who like to go away have fun get drunk and bring the party back to the room.
Fab Hotel - Beware of the cleaners lol.
We have not long been back from a week in Zante staying at the Ionis Hotel. The hotel is nice and modern and the rooms are great, a little basic but what do you expect when you get a good deal. The only moan we really had was that your towels and bed sheets are supposed to be changed every two days. However one day my boyfriend was ill, so he left the towels and sheets just inside the door so they could just be changed over, whilst he went to sleep. The cleaner came in and just left them! So we just assumed she would come back later, however this was not the case! I asked at reception if we could have some more towels and we were told we don’t get any more until we leave now! And if we wanted clean one’s we would have to pay! I explained that they weren’t changed and the woman on reception was quite rude and insisted they were. So basically we were expected to use the same towels for 4 days! So it might be advisable to take just a few towels. Or you will have to go on the rob for some! Also I’m not too sure what the cleaners actually do? On day 2 of our holiday we had gone for a walk down the beach, and admittedly my fault, but when we got back I threw my flip-flops on the floor and some remaining sand went on the floor. That sand was on the floor until we left! The room is nice and clean when you get it, just try keep it as clean as possible!!! Also the hotel gets a bit noisy so if you’re a light sleeper I wouldn’t recommend it. Also on arrival you are expected to pay 50 Euros deposit encase anything gets broken. I would advise you check your room thoroughly as they will sting you big time even if it is something minor!!! It never happened to use but I heard people getting charged stupid amounts for a screw missing!!! That was missing when they got there anyway!!! Anybody going with Twenties, I would advise you to go to the meeting they offer, as they show you loads of things there are to do. I wouldn’t pay for the whole lot though as some of it they charge you 40 Euros for tickets but if you go to the bar and ask how much the tickets are from there they say 15 Euros. So just think before you buy! The best restaurant we went to was The Olympic Flame. They offer big portions of yummy food, which is good value for money too! The beach at the end of the street is not the best beach as it turns into a road at night, so as u can imagine the sand isn’t wonderful, however you can walk round or even get a boat round to the nice beaches! Anyway, I will try and upload some photo’s for you all but overall I would recommend this hotel for young singles or couples.
Watch Out
Upon checking out of the hotel, your room is checked over by the cleaners for any damage and any fair wear and tear marks reported to the old Greek woman who is the owner. She then keeps part or all of your deposit despite you being able to prove that you are not responsible for the damage. She is unreasonable in the extreme and treats you like a child. I personally think this was a last minute attempt to extract more cash from you before your flight leaves. There are no English receptionists present on your last day and being under time pressure you haven't time to argue. In any case the old woman is so rude. This last day argument left a nasty taste in my mouth. Even worse you couldn't bring friends!? back to your room late at night due to the omnipresent security guard armed with cosh etc - otherwise laganas is fanstastic but I would stay elsewhere..
Fantastic Holiday!
Hotel had been refurbished this year so very modern. Rooms basic but clean and tidy. Location of the hotel is excellent being right on the main strip and right near the beach so not far to walk to anything. Pool area really nice too. Being a 2wenties hotel, reps organised some good days and nights out including booze cruise, bar crawl, rep party, school disco and foam party. Only bad points that I would note are the fact that the hotel can be very noisy at night being on the strip but if you get a room on the back like we did (118) then its not too bad. The beach is also not as nice as I had expected as for some reason cars seem to drive up and down. If however you walk to the beach and turn right, keep walking til you get to a small island and go over the top, there is a nice little cove that we found the other side. Would highly recommend this hotel if looking for clean hotel in a brilliant location and some wicked nights out!
Rip Off Deposit Charges
The hotel is lovely but this is a warning message. The 50 Euro room deposit or a portion of it was taken from at least four parties checking out. You sign to say the rooms are good but then get charged for their wear and tear. Screw missing from lamp 130 Euro, cigarette burn in fridge 30 Euro, door frame split, ash tray missing etc. I advise before you accept room you go through it with the manager detailing faults. No list is provided of previous faults or checklist of items that should be there so who knows how many times they charge for same one. They would not provide details if previous tenants had been charged for same damage the week before ie ash tray loss/burn marks were in non smokers room.
A modern and beautiful bootcamp
This is apparently one of the most modern and beautiful hotels in the Laganas region and I would probably agree. The rooms and lobby have been recently refurbished with exquisite taste and to a very high standard. HOWEVER, this comes a price and not a monetary one. Staying here is like being at a very strict grandma's house. The rules they implement are ridculous. You are not allowed to make any noise in the lobby at night despite there being a bar there which opens til the early hours. Placing my foot on foot ledging at the bottom of the receptionist stand, curling up on the sofa for a nap (after being made to wait in reception for over 10 hours for my flight - see comment further down) and stepping down from a raised platform where the pool was instead of using the 2 steps resulted in a stern telling off from the owner and/or her mother. You are required to give a 50 Euro per person deposit for the room which you are unlikely to get back in its entireity. The owners will deduct money from this for missing astrays, loose screws, a small crack in a tile, fingerprints on the wall, mascara on towels. Anything that was not reported wrong in your room by YOU at the beginning of the stay will be charged for at the end. Additionally we were made to check out of rooms at 10:30 am despite our flight leaving at 6 am the following morning. The staff here especially the bar staff and security guard (Vordek) are friendly but are harrased and put under pressure when the owners are around. Also it was a friends birthday and we pre-ordered a cake and ballons. The cake cost 30 Euros and we were charged 18 Euros for the ballons in a pack (which were not helium, not blown up or even tied with string) that would have cost £1 in the UK. When we complained that they weren't even blown up the owner made the barman blow up 25 balloons. We felt so sorry for him we had to rally in all teh hotel guests to help. Breakfast also leaves a lot to be desired.
