Everything was great!!!
If you are trying to decide where to go in the DR, then you should go to the Iberostar Hacienda. This resort is amazing!! DO NOT listen to the bad reviews. I had doubts when I did and i worried for nothing. Alot of the people complain of the food being bad and repetitive but I found this to be untrue. Some things they have everyday like hotdogs and hamburgers but i always found something good to eat. I stayed for 7 nights and always managed to find something different. The breaskfast buffet is excellent. They have someone making eggs to order and fresh pancakes right there in front of you. Thy also have someone stationed with a blender making juices with fresh fruit! They are delicioues. The food is always hot and always being replaced with fresh dishes. Nothing was ever left sitting too long. Other than the buffet you also have the choice of 4 gourmet restaurants.(a new seafood was just added). The experience at the japanese restaurant was amazing. Also, the waiters and waitresses are just about perfect. They usually have two people per station so they have everything you ask for right away. They are very professional, always smiling and your diry plates are removed almost instantly. The beach and pool are magnificent. They have many many lounge chairs available so you always find one. Both pool and beach are huge and very clean. I never saw any seaweed at the beach. Although the hotel was sold out while I was there it was never crowded. The hotel itself was beatiful. It has amazing decorations. The lobby is right out of a luxury hotel. there are comfy couches everywhere so you can sit and read or drink or just hang out. The rooms were also beatiful. I was very surprised at how clean and modern they were. The bathroom was just like any bathroom in a 5 star american hotel. The bathtub was extra long and deep so it was perfect for baths. The maid service was excellent. They always cleaned my room early and they even took the time to make artwork with the towels on the bed. Theyyour bed with fresh flowers. All the employees were very happy. They always made you feel welcome and special. They were always smiling and singing and making jokes. I must give extra mention to the Starz team. They were always around making sure noone was bored. They organized volleyball, dancing, aerobics, archery and darts to name a few. Also, it seemed they were always there. I dont think they ever got any sleep. I would see them in the nightclub late at night showing everyone how to dance and then when I went to breakfst they were there again dressed up in some costume handing out flyers with that days events. Then they went out to the pool and beach and did it all over again. The spa was also very good and reasonably priced. I got a body scrub, facial, and hydrating body mask for $150.Overall I loved my vacation. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. It was truly a great experience.A special shout out to Victor, Billy Boy, Danny, Mama Juana, Ricardo (pool bar), Carmen V.(maid) and Enrique (front desk).
awesome!
woah!!! I just got back from a wonderful vacation! To start off.. the hotel is gorgeous! everything is so well kept and neat and beautiful! the beach is the prettiest i have ever been to. The food is great too! especially the deserts. The theater is awesome too! the staff is probably the nicest and most helpful that you will ever find in a hotel. The rooms are great with the blaconys. The spa is excellent too. Woah i couldn't ask for more in a hotel! i loved it so much! i hope that i can go again soon!
21 1/2 hours
We should have flown out at 9:15am, but after sitting on the plane a couple hours, they informed us the plane blew a starter. We were on a charter with the carrier being Icelandair (beware) they only have 9 planes. We had to wait until they arrived with another one???? We finally departed at 8:00pm. Finally arriving at Iberostar about 2:00am. The resort is beautiful, we were in building 3 on the 3rd floor. The view was wonderful and very clean. Breakfast and lunch was the same everyday. This became very old and quite tasteless. We did take in a show called Las Vegas, grammer school children would do a better job, so don't waste your time. The wine at the swim up bar was disgusting. But better in the Lobby. There was a wonderful waitress in the Lobby named Rudy, she was the best always smiling. We did get the squeezers and very sick feeling the last couple days. The food isn't kept on ice?????Other wise the place is spotless, pool clean and grounds were great. Just watch out for the food...
wow
the hotel was wonderful. my mother got sick and the staff helped with that issue wonderfully. they made me feel very safe and at home in their home. A major thank you goes out to Emmanuel the guest service manager there. the only missing was his wings, he was an angel.
the best service in the carribean
I just got back from the best vacation ever at Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus. The service was absolutely wonderful! All staff members, including bartenders, maids, receptionist clerks, etc. were friendly and aimed to please. I felt as though I was very welcome at the resort. The beach is simply breath-taking! Having a bar right on the beach is a great idea- other resorts should follow Iberostar's example. The water is clear and relaxing. I only saw a few fish. The beach is spacious with lots of places to sit. Dancing, contests and other activities happen on the beach. You can become as involved as you want. The gardens and buildings are magnificent! There are always ground workers and matenience people around keeping this place in tip top shape. It really shows how devoted these individuals are to their jobs. I enjoyed going to the nightly shows. The performers were very professional and had great attitudes. The Starz entertainment group really has their stuff together. There was a balance of adult and child activities throughout the day. Finally, I would like to say how great the food was. The buffet always had a variety of foods, like seafood, pasta, fish, meat, etc. The specialty restaurants were very good also. All in all, my husband and I just loved this resort! It has exceptional service, scenery and food wrapped into one special place. It is the perfect getaway in paradise!
The food made me sick!
This place is not made for those with good taste! While the beach and facilities were adequate, the food was horrendous. The first meal I ate here made me sick for the next few days. After that I barely ate a thing. The resort has many buffets, which in the US and Canada would not be a problem. Here the fruit, yogurt and other perishables are not cooled on the buffet serving islandsand other food is left to sit for hours without adequate heat. Also, no one is stopping guests from putting their fingers in the food. My husband, friends and I ended up switching to Casa Del Campo, which was much better. I would only recommend this place to people who like an all you can eat gluttenous lifestyle.Aslo a warning (or a bonus) to Americans. There are lots of topless women here.
Just returned
My family enjoyed our stay at the Iberostar. The weather was beautiful and the facilities are magnificent. Our room was directly on the beach-it could not have been any better. My children had a very difficult time finding food to their liking and my husband and I found the food to be mediocre. Very very few Americans stay at this resort - many languages are spoken around the pool and beach. My 3 year old found it difficult to befriend others due to language barriers. Staff is extremely nice and very helpful!! The resort has a lot to offer - activites galore. All in all - great value!!! Next time we visit, we will know to bring more food for the kids and maybe some English speaking friends too!!
Loved the resort
We loved the resort. The food was great. The beach was absolutely beautiful. The shows were fun. The staff was very friendly. We meant some wonderful people. We went on two excursions, the 1/2 shopping is two long and you only go to tourist traps, but the horseback riding and snorkling with Raymond was very educating and fun. If the 11 from Canada ever read the review, Hi from Ken and Deb from Maine.T he only thing wrong, no face clothes, but who cares you're on vacation. This will definately be a number one vacation spot. Book now before the prices go sky high.
Excellente!
Our vacation at the Iberostar was great. The resort offered a comforting feeling as soon as we arrived. The staff was friendly, food was good and the resort was beautiful. The beach was one of the most beautiful I have seen in my travels. The shows were well done but were a little repetitive. They may have been more entertaining if they had more audience participation. Caution: when buying souvenirs or jewellery of any of the vendors, be sure to bargain and negotiate. The price start extremely high! I definitely recommend this vacation destination to anyone!
Avoid the Hotel Gift Shops
My husband and I along with 4 other couples stayed at this resort November 2002. Overall the resort is beautiful and the service was very good. They were experiencing septic or water problems at the poolbar so the odor drove us away a few days. The poolside bartenders more than make up for the inconvenience however with their service and constant smiles. A few of us made the mistake of using our credit cards in the hotel gift store and as a result our card numbers were used during DECEMBER all over Santo Domingo. Luckily we caught the charges early and reported them to the card companies. I would recommend the resort overall but avoid any unneccesary shopping at or around the resort.
