The time of our lives

I can't believe I have just read some bad reviews of this hotel.Me my wife and our 5 kids descended on to the gardens we thought it would be tough, but oh no we were treated like royalty.Every day there was something different to do for the children so me and the wife could chill. If you don't enjoy Animation then you are not embracing their way of life. I even found myself up on stage at one point.(I hope there are no pictures on any sites) Scooby Kimo and Cousin much respect lads. These guys made our kids holiday so memorable. We like to have a drink or 2 so a special mention to the bar staff especially Tuiss what a man! I never had to go to the bar for the whole 2 weeks. The choice of food is superb if you get it wrong you may have a dodgy tummy for a couple of days but that happens anywhere in the world. All I can say is go there to enjoy and you will if you look for faults you will find them but whats the point you're on holiday just go with the flow. I hope you all get to read this at the hotel. I hope you remember us as well. The twins at mini disco Mel and her mum and dad Mikey and PARTY BOY.Oh by the way the rooms and the beach are fantastic too.
beautiful place

i'm italian and my english is not very good but i can tell you that hammamet garden RESORT is a beautiful hotel, very very clean, with a good service. Every day your room will be clean and on your bed you will find some flowers... a good parfum in all the hotel, At lunch and dinner there is a big buffet, with a lot of things.. is not all good but you can survive with potatos, tomato, salade. If you eat out of the hotel you will understand that hotel food is "good", because out is not all clean and food has a lot of spices... All inclusive is only for analcholic and not for all.. you will pay ITALIAN COFFEE, and orange juice. In the hotel there are 3 swimming pool, fitness center, estethist, the doctor, ... is very very big. Have a good travel and if you need more information you can write me by by stefania
Never Again

First impressions of hotel were really good. Nice rooms, gorgeous pool and great lobby. Made some friend and we then became a foursome! Food was ok, not great, not awful. Drinks were pretty bad. Main problem was the staff. I found the waiters and bar staff to be rude, offensive, intimidating and intrusive. There was a major incident with a male member of staff which we reported to the manager but nothing was done. By end of the holiday we (being two women travelling alone) did not feel safe in our room. Tunisia itself is beautiful but as a young woman, i endured lots of sexual remarks from men in the street. Had a good holiday but would not return to thie hotel or Tunisia in general.
Expect a 3star and you will be happy.

We had a great time in Tunisia. Can highly recommend the 2day Sahara trip for a bit of culture. The hotel is by no means a 4star. But we didn't expect their standards to be the same as ours anyway. The rooms were clean and warm. The weather was great some days but cold and rainy others. There was a good choice of food and the wine and beer included in the all inclusive package was fine. Considering we only paid £199 each we feel we had excellent value for money. Don't expect 4 star perfection and you'll have a great time.

We had a group of 13 travelling (ages ranging from 7 to 50). We were slightly concerned having read reviews after booking but figured what the heck we’d make the most of it. The outbound journey was particularly smooth, departed Gatwick at 2.00pm got to the hotel at approximately 8.40pm (thank you to the reviewer who warned about the 2 hour transfer), where we were promptly ushered by staff to the dining area to get something to eat before they closed, which we thought was very considerate as they could’ve taken their time checking us in first. First impressions of the hotel were good and pretty much confirmed what the majority of past reviewers have said in that it’s not a 4 star hotel, more 3 star. Having said that, with a good refurb, it could easily be a 4 star. The rooms were more than adequate for all our needs, and any problems were quickly rectified. The daily cleaning staff were friendly and courteous and did their jobs well, our younger travellers were particularly impressed with the designs they left on the beds. The food was OK, not gourmet, a varied selection so there was always something you could eat. A bit bland at times (thanks to the reviewers that pointed this out) – we took our own hot pepper sauce to spice it up a bit! To all those who complained about food poisoning, I suggest you check your food before you eat it, common sense told us that if you’re eating food that’s been produced in bulk quantity, particularly meat, you should check it. A couple of times one of our group cut into their meat i.e., pork or chicken and it was slightly undercooked – don’t eat it, you’re gonna get ill, this rule applies wherever you go, not just Tunisia! Drinks – OK the wine was pretty awful but the cedratine was fine with coke. Must admit we did expect it to be slightly warmer, and therefore brought too many summer items. Don’t be fooled 15o with a sunny icon is not that warm and you will need long sleeves and long skirts or jeans. The weather meant we spent quite a bit of time inside the hotel, which gave us the opportunity to experience some of the entertainment during the day, not impressive for our 7 year olds, 11, 14, 15 and 17 year olds spent most of their time in the mini arcade or the indoor pool (which was heated). We played scrabble, took our own cards and even had a game of charades. Evening entertainment left a lot to the imagination and at times could have been construed as offensive but we didn’t think it was done with intent. A lot of it went over the kids heads and they thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the discos. The entertainment staff work very hard but could maybe do with some new ideas. Nightclub in the hotel, was actually OK as nightclubs go, just empty. If you’re looking for something a bit more lively try nearby “Latinos”, crowd mainly Tunisian at that time of the year, could imagine a lot more tourists come peak season. We were all inclusive, and to be honest, were a little perplexed about prior reviewers reports on bad service and having to tip etc (maybe because it was offpeak season or because we were in such a large group?). After the first day, we had our own table reserved every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Drinks were always served with a smile and promptly until the arrival of new guests later in the week, which was understandable. The Christmas gala dinner on Christmas eve, commenced with the kids being greeted by Santa (one of the entertainment crew). There was an excellent display of a festive gingerbread house. A 7 course meal was served to individual tables, a little time consuming, but nice nonetheless. Music and entertainment was also provided. We didn’t even know this was included so it was a bonus to us. Our first experience of a medina was in Hammamet’s town centre and at first the hassling does get on your nerves a little but we also found it quite entertaining with comments like “buy one get one free” and “have a butcher’s mate” – quite amusing! If you want to avoid them, just don’t make eye contact, smile, politely decline and keep moving. Once you’ve seen five or six stalls, you’ve more or less seen most of what they have to offer anyway. A few of us hired a driver and minibus for the day and took a trip to Carthage and Sidi Bou Said. Would definitely recommend this, even just to get out of Hammamet. History, culture, beauty we had a great time, however beware upon arrival at the cathedral at Carthage of the guides, unless you’re a history buff, we accepted the services of one and had to stop her 10 minutes in, she just seemed to ramble on very quickly and in any case she wasn’t’ telling us anything you couldn’t read in a decent guide book and at your own leisure. Slight hiccup on the way home, our coach broke down but nevertheless we arrived at the airport on time after a replacement arrived. Overall, we had a great time, and our only real issue was the weather but there wasn’t a lot we could do about that. You get what you pay for – isn’t that the saying and we definitely felt that we got just that and more.
Lovely Hotel, shame about............

I cannot fault the hotel itself, it was lovely set in beautiful grounds. Our room was comfortable and clean overlooking the small quieter pool at the rear. The food was fresh and tasty, not fine dining, that would unrealistic, but totally acceptable for where we were and neither myself or my partner suffered any ill effects. The only issue I had was with the set up of the all inclusive package. On arrival you receive the obligatory wrist band. When going to the pool bar to order drinks, beer could only be ordered in 1/2 pint measures,as in the rest of the hotel. Guests paying at the time could receive pints. You were then told you had to go to the till to give your room number and sign a receipt. This proved to be a nightmare. The till was at the other end of the bar where the food was being ordered and there was invariably a queue. I have never come across an all inclusive package that works this way and I was never given an explanation as to why. The all inclusive drinks package of LOCAL beer, wines, spirits soft drinks is exactly as it says. If you wasnt pepsi, coca cola, schwepps, other spirits etc, you will have to pay for them. I accept there will always be a need for some queueing, but I am on holiday, I don't want to spend the time unecessarily standing in a line just to sign a bit of paper when I have already paid for everything before my arrival. If I was ever to go here again I would opt for a half board package and give the AI a miss.
Don't forget the Immodium
from CatherineSBarrett
The hotel was beautiful. Superb pool, clean comfortable room, very friendly staff and lots of activities throughout the day. However, for the majority of the two weeks I was there, I was extrememly poorly. I believe this to have been caused by the food (which was actually quite nice, freshly made and plenty of choice). I suffered from chronic stomach pains, diarrohea and sickness. By the time I got home, I had lost an entire stone in weight. I continued to be ill for a week following my return as whatever it was left my system. My boyfriend was also ill (not as bad as me). A lot of people we met were also having to take Immodium, so if you choose to go to this hotel - this is an essential for your packing list. Good points however are the Animation Team who keep you entertained all day and all evening. These were great guys who worked incredibly hard for not a lot of money to keep everyone happy. Say hi to Kimo and Scooby for me! Absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend the two day Safari tour - highlight of my holiday (despite feeling dreadful throughout). There is a lot of coach travel involved but you get to see the real Tunisia. Best bits were El Jem, cave people, desert oasis, jeep safari and camel ride. Watch out for the people in the hotel trying to sell you camel rides, quad bike riding etc. I made the mistake of being polite and sat down with one of them. He ripped us off completely moneywise (well it was our first day!) and we had to make several complaints to the hotel - it took us several days to get our money back. Just be firm and tell them no. Watch out for the over-friendly Tunisians in the markets. If you're a young female like me, expect to get harrassed a lot! I was dragged into shops, hugged and kissed. There was a lot of pressure off them to make a purchase. Make sure you're accompanied by someone brave enough to tell them were to go! Watch out for the very stinky sewer running down the alleyway to the beach - I've never smelt anything like it!
Fantastic week at Christmas
from johnwales
Christmas in a Muslim country was different...... There was no tacky christmas music being rammed down your throat everywhere you went. however, The Hammamet Garden Resort pulled out all the stops on Christmas Eve. All the Guests, including many children gathered in the foyer at 6.30 pm to greet father christmas.... the atmosphere was electric. Each child recieved a gift. Then it was into the dining room for a beautiful table waited 5 course meal with entertainment between each course. It really was a fantastic night. On reading some of the awful reviews on this site I ask myself this Question..... Did some of these people ever leave the hotel? There are plenty of things to do in Hammamet and the surrounding area. Camel riding, horse riding, Quad biking, Plenty of places of interest to visit, and of course retail therapy.... this is where you HAVE to haggle to get the best bargains.... If you just go with the flow.... Laugh a lot and keep smiling... start with a ridiculously low offer you will soon get the hang of it.The Tunisian people are very very friendly. Back to the Hotel.... the outdoor pools are far too cold at christmas...but the indoor pool, although small, was great and spotlessly clean. Our maid did an excellent job on the room everyday. The bar staff and the waiters work really hard and are always polite and willing to please....The all inclusive drinks are local and more than adequate. The food in the dining room is plentiful, varied, tasty and fresh. the dining room staff are friendly and very efficient. All inclusive drinks are served at your table. All inclusive alcholic drinks end at 11pm....but all inclusive sandwiches, tea coffee and soft drinks are avalable 24 hrs a day. The general appearance ot the hotel is kept spotlessly clean. For the price we British pay... who could possibly ask for more. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves so much that just 10 days after arriving home we returned to the Hammamet Garden for another 2 weeks A more pleasant and happy hotel would be hard to find..... We hope to return soon
fantastic holliday, don`t listen to bad reviews

I really don`t understand when people say this is an awful hotel! we left Luton new yrs day and arrived early hours of the next day, yes the coach journey was long, but when we arrived the hotel is beauitfull. We managed to get a sandwich. We found everyone really really friendly, and helpfull, and the salad bar was out of this world!the food is NOT bland, it was lovely, ok the last few days were a bit poor, but that was due to not many guests being in the hotel. The outside pools were very cold, but looked beautiful.the reception was a little cold, but for 8 weeks of the yr there is no point trying to heat it.The entertainment is I have to say poor, but again its the time of the yr, and we made so many friends that we entertained ourselves,in the cazbar bar.the rooms are clean, beautifull views. How can anyone say the beach is awful?it was lovely, ok they don`t keep it spotless this time of year, but we liked it.we had an amazing two weeks, and hope to return with my teenage daughter in August. The people who get you to try the trips are not that bad, all you have to say is no, and they stop pestering you, we found them pleasant and funny. We went on the quad bikes, this was well worth while. The tunisian night was good, and the Sahara visit was an amazing experience, once we get photos back I will put them on this site, anyone wanting to e mail me is welcome Emmamorse5@aol.com fantastic amazing holliday, we will return!!

This hotel is located a dirty back alley from the beach. The beach is dirty with construction debris and broken glass. The hotel stink cigarette smoke. Clientele is mostly retired senior. Nothing to do in Hammamet.
Went with my partner and 2 yr old son, its a good job we have good sense of humours as if we didnt laugh we would of cried! I paid for a pool view you could only see a fraction of the pool from our patio! we complained but nothing done, later our room flooded and then we... more
