The best holiday I ve ever had been to. Hammamet resort like an ancient Arabic city where you can enjoy the ancient design but in a new building and the hotel was really clean. The staff were great they tried to help in every possible way .don't miss the Pirate trip although you have to pay separately but it really worth it . Hire a car just opposite the hotel for about 100 Dinnar and you ll have a driver to take around the major cities in Tunisia remember to visit sidi bo said it's fab where the sand meet the blue sea . It worth every penny we have paid , the cleanness , the night entertainments the staff, the daily morning water aerobics my kids dreaming of a come back. The Tunisian people are great.

the overall cleanliness was poor, the rooms where sometimes cleaned but more less than often.

the sink and bath water in our room was filthy dirty.

the indoor pool was filthy dirty after and about 3 days into our 2 week holiday (and only after complaining more than once) they closed it down and finally cleaned and re-opened it towards the end of the holiday.

the water slides had been promised to open every day of our 2 week stay and never did.

the food was bland to say the least, the same dishes seemed be in the evening that where served at lunchtime, most mornings I had an omelete from a sweet lady over at the back of the food hall as the main breakfast food was very bland and poor.

there was no area for non smokers so even in the main entertainment area it was thick with smoke, not so great for all the kids eh!.

the club/disco was the same thing, thick with smoke so non of children could really see the shows, unless you dont mind smoking your kids lungs out.

all in all us and at least 6 other couples found the hotel to be very poor and were certainly not in a hurry to go back.

I got sick ater 2 days and a couple we met had a young son who also had the same symtoms (wiped out, bad stomach) I personally put it down to the pool and the dirty water in the rooms.

I ended up with severe food poisoning and a three night stay in the local hospital / clinic. We hadn't at that time eaten anywhere else. Also numerous people were poorly when we arrived back.

One really postive point that the holiday rep was fantastic. She went above and beyond her duties.

I have recently stayed with 5 other people which included 2 teenage girls at this resort and have to say, I am slightly surprised by some of the negative comments and poor reviews. I have travelled extensively throughout my adult life and was for the first time ever concerned prior to my departure about holidaying at this hotel due to some of the comments. The lesson I have learnt is take these sites as a loose guide only. The hotel was of good order and the rooms we occupied were of a good standard, they were cleaned daily, tip the cleaners daily with 1 dinar (30 pence) and they will ensure you are looked after.

I will warn you about the all inclusive drinks; it is local drinks only, Beer, water, Coke, Sprite, Brandy, Wine (white, red & rose) and brandy. Any other drink has to be imported (including diet coke) thus it is not local, so it is not all inclusive, you are given a sheet of paper on your check in to the hotel, read it, tells you what you are going to get for your all inclusive. I must contradict people on here who say the beer and wine are watered down; I can assure they are most certainly not. I never had to queue for a drink, simply because I tipped the waiter 5 dinar daily, this ensured that when he came on duty at 1600 hrs I never had to leave the pool to get a drink because he brought them to my party, when in the bar he frequently delivered our drinks to the table.

The animation team are fantastic for young children and old, they will try to get you involved but do not pressurise you if you have no interest. Attend the belly dancing show, it is excellent.

Food was very European; if you are expecting fish and chips and full English this hotel is not for you, in fact no where in Tunisia is, go to Blackpool! The food was of a good standard and plentiful, we did not go hungry. We all ate the salads and were not ill!

Trips, attend the African dream, visit to a wildlife park followed by an all inclusive meal with Zulu dancers, bloody excellent.

If you haven’t been to Tunisia think about it before you book. Remember this is Africa. It's quite poor, a bit scruffy, and quite smelly and attitudes are different. It is usual to tip for services. The people are friendly, but it's quite an in your face approach and women will get comments especially if you have teenage daughters. Expect to be hassled and they are very persistent until they get the message. You must be firm. If you go to the Medinas smile and walk on and they leave you alone. At no point did I find it intimidating, the teenage girls did, however if you are concerned try the medina in Yasmine first, it’s newer, wider and less intimidating.

I much preferred the older end of town. The old Medina is really something else. Its 9th century, very narrow and winding and the shop keepers are very persistent, but manageable. You have to haggle and remember they are the experts. You will likely as not pay too much, but it's not a fortune and the experience is good fun. You will be offered Mint tea in shops it's traditional.

All in all Tunisia is a challenging and different place to visit and Hammamat Gardens is an adequate hotel as long as you know the facts. Would I visit again, the answer is yes and I hope to do so next year

I went to garden resort with a large number of friends. There were many young people, but the animation was a bit weak, we didn't have much to do in the hotel. Some of my friends complaind about the cleaness in their rooms, but mine was ok, and i tought it was very pleasent. The pools are ok, but it was very chilly outside, we all get sick because we weren't counting with so much cold.

Near the hotel there are 2of the best discos in the area, Havana, and British, go there!

The food was very poor, not much to choose, and in their 2 days of holiday, there were many Tunisian people in the hotel, so we had to wait a longggggg time to get served.

If you are looking for a quiet, laid back holiday where you are waited on hand and foot then this could be the holiday for you. The Hotel was immaculate and the rooms were beautiful, when the maid came to make the bed she left sweets and flowers. There are plenty of tours to go on but i only went on the night time ones I just chilled by the pool in the day or took a stroll to the beach which was also beautiful.

We spent Christmas and New Year at this hotel and we had a fantastic time. The hotel is beautiful., very clean, the food is good and varied.

The rooms are very comfortable and the maid service was excelent. The indoor pool was a joy to use.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and the waiter service for drinks was excelent,I did not have to queue at all in 3 weeks.

The entertanment team work very hard and try to include everyone in the activities whether young or old.

I would recomend this hotel to anyone...young or old, families with children, or single travelers....they would be assured of a great time

Me, my husband and my son who is 1 1/2 have just spent Christmas there and we loved it. The staff were really friendly and the hotel was beautiful. The indoor pool was really warm the outdoor pools were nice but it was too cold to go in.

The staff were really helpful and loved my little boy he got so much attention he was in his element.

I have to say the food wasn't great but wasn't bad there was always a good choice but the chips was undercooked. I enjoyed the breakfast which started at 6am which was ideal as my son gets up early and we enjoyed freshly made pancakes everyday.

The surrounding area wasn't that good but a short taxi drive away to Yasmine is definitely advisable it is beautiful.

Overall I would love to return to this hotel and would like to try it in summer because it is a beautiful hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay. The room was clean and spacious, the public areas were kept immaculately and the dining room was always welcoming. Staff were thoughtful and attentive.

The spa and indoor pool were very well used and we all thought the treatments were good value and well executed.

The entertainment team worked very hard to include everybody, even our party of six who are all retired.

The beach was clean and we swam in the sea, even in November. Perhaps we would not have had such a pleasant stay had we gone in high season or been hard drinkers!

The food was always acceptable and considering the low price we paid (which included scheduled air travel) we thought it was a remarkable bargain. We would go again but like this time out of season.

I would never had imagined myself writing a review of a hotel but having stayed at this one I felt I had to let other people know how bad it is. We have stayed in Tunisia before so my complaint is not with the country or the people.

We arrived at night and as they keep the hotel so very dark at night our first impression was good, only in daylight could we see how tired and scruffy this hotel is. Beds are difficult because the wooden frame they sit in mean they cannot be pushed together properly. The whole time we were there our bath wasn't cleaned. We had quite a few cockroaches on our balcony, so don't leave anything on the floor of your room.

Twice the porter let himself into our room without knocking first.

The reception staff were totally unhelpful, you cannot get access to the internet while the change counter is shut, which is most of the time. Complaints were ignored, such as no toilet roll in communal bathrooms, bathrooms filthy.

Several people, including us got stuck in the lifts; they are not reliable at all.

Tunisia can be a smelly country, but to have to walk past an open sewer pipe to access the beach is a bit off-putting!

Our biggest complaint though was the food, I normally love the food in Tunisia, but here it was awful. I ended up with an upset stomach. The food is dull, bland and low quality. We were served different variations of the same food every single meal time to the point we couldn't face another meal there. The odd hair in food is understandable but not when you find an animal hair in the pork! Compared to other hotels there the staff were unhelpful and not interested at all.

Don’t expect a proper All Inclusive experience here, it is very limited, both to what you can have, but also the times you can have them.

We decided after 4 nights there to get the first plane home, and incurred £300 costs to get home, but it was worth it to not have to stay another night here!

The hotel building is quite nice looking, although there were some serious safety aspects - electrical wires handing from walls - glass in swimming pool.

The room was quite spacious. We went all inclusive. The food (although you won’t starve) was very poor. It was mainly geared for Italian, German & French, some of the meat wasn't even cooked properly and the children's menu was diabolical - 1 option (usually pasta).

Continental breakfast was all you got options for. The restaurant staff were quite polite, as were the maids.

There are 3 pools - not exceptionally clean. When you venture outside the hotel grounds - it’s like hitting a extremely poor part of Europe. The shops were virtually nonexistent and the few that were you couldn't walk passed without the shop keeper trying to pull you in - so much for gentle bartering - it was a nightmare-every shop you walked passed trying to get you to buy. Hammamet Yasmin further up is a much nicer place.

The all inclusive drinks finished dead on 11.00pm. You could up grade at extra cost to "Gold" service which entitles you to their whiskey, brandy etc - but to be honest it’s not worth it.

No we wouldn't go back to this hotel again.

I have read all the reviews on this and other sites for this hotel and I have come to the conclusion that most of the complaints are about Tunisia and not the accommodation.

We returned from Hammamet Gardens last week and like a lot of others were very worried before going when we read the reviews. If you are in that position now please do not worry.

The hotel is not 4* more like 3*. But still ok. The lobby is spacious and clean. We found the reception staff friendly and cheerful, even at 4am when we were waiting to come home. Our luggage was taken to our room on arrival by a bell boy. We made sure we had a few coins to give him.

The room was large and clean. Some of the fittings were past their best, but nothing was broken. The maid worked really hard she cleaned the room each day and changed the towels when asked. You have to put your towels on the floor if you want them changing. There were often flowers left on the bed.

The food, which is often criticised, was good hotel fayre. There wasn't any typical English food so if that's what you want you will be disappointed. Whilst we were there we had Sardines, Red Mullet, Muscles, Prawns all freshly cooked, the Sardines particularly well. The fruit was delicious, really juicy and fresh. There was chicken, Beef, salads, cooked veg. They did a lovely pumpkin and squash bake and the Aubegine was some of the best I've had. Everything was well cooked, nothing swimming in oil, although the Tunisians do cook things in lots of oil remembers.

The French influence was evident in the sweets which were fantastic, creamy and light. We did have stomach upsets, but that was not poor food hygiene, it was a change of climate and different food. I have been to some very good hotels and had the same problem. It's soon sorted out with a dose or two of Imodium.

The waiters were very polite and friendly. We always had our table saved for us and if there was not one free for any reason, one was soon sorted out. This was not down to lots of tipping. We did not tip until the end of the holiday.

The drinks were fine. We did not experience any problems. It was all self service so we helped ourselves as often as we liked. The Beer was good. I didn't think it was watered down. The Wine was ok, not the best, but Tunisia is not renowned for its wine. All the bottled water we had was sealed on arrival.

The pool was lovely. We enjoyed a swim each day. The entertainment goes on a bit, but most people were enjoying it so who am I to complain.

I didn't feel like a second class guest for being AI. I think you have to have a sense of humour about things. If you smile and joke with the staff they appreciate it. When we did they remembered us and always had a few cheery words when we met. I think this gets you a better service rather than tipping and why not? Everyone likes to be appreciated.

If you haven’t been to Tunisia think about it before you book. Remember this is Africa. It's quite poor, a bit scruffy, and quite smelly and attitudes are different. It is usual to tip for services. The people are friendly, but it's quite an in your face approach and women will get comments. Expect to be hassled and they are very persistent until they get the message. You must be firm. You will be offered Mint tea in shops it's traditional.

The only place we got ripped off was in Yasmine where a restaurant tried to charge us double for a Lobster! But there's always one.

The other thing to remember is that Tunisia is not a traditional British holiday destination. You will be in the minority and they cater more for the French and Italians who make up the bulk of their guests.

All in all Tunisia is a challenging and different place to visit and Hammamat Gardens is an adequate hotel as long as you know the facts.

Holiday was for two weeks 08/08/2007 - 22/08/2007. I went with my mum and brother to this hotel, my mum had been before in 2003. Enjoyed it the first time and decided as a family holiday to go back.

Well where do I start? The cleaners had a smile and hello every morning, fresh flowers on your bed when you arrived. Each morning a bottle of mineral water left in room. The food was good, some times a little to rich for me but there were alternatives. Bar and waiters were smart polite and friendly.

But the best of all were the animation team. What a great bunch of guys they worked so hard and always had a smile on their faces... Salam... Labbas, to each and every one of you. But if you decide to go to Hammamet Garden Resort. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family and I did. Happy holidays.....

Me and my daughter went here for our first holiday in 4 Years and all I can say is that the hotel and the staff were fantastic. We where lucky enough to be at the hotel while they celebrated there 11 years. The entertainment staff put on a fantastic show helped by the people holidaying at the hotel. The entertainment staff even accompanied us on a night out to a Tunisian disco/pub after they finished work which was great.

The waiters in the hotel were fab; Sahsi was great, helped make our stay really great. The Food was all wonderfully presented and tasted great. I cant say I found much I didn't try or like. The only down side was there was not a lot of English in the hotel which made it hard to mix in for both adults and kids, but that really wasn't a problem.

I would definitely return to Hammamet Gardens again. Keep up the good work guys.

I do not understand how people can give a bad rating for this hotel, as it is the best hotel I have ever stayed in.

The staff are really friendly and the beach is within walking distance. If you have little children you can use a horse carriage which is going from the hotel right to the beach without any extra charges.

The buffet in the evening is very nice and a wide range of food and drinks.

There is a bar by the pool where drinks and food can be purchased throughout the day.

So if you think about going on holiday go to the hotel Hammamet Garden. I will go back there again this year as well.
