This review is a bit late after our holidays, but have just read some terrible and un just comments about the olive grove apartments. We were there in september and october for 3 weeks. we had the apartment for four, just as you go in the 2nd gate up the hill. it was a lovely apartment, HUGE kitchen,(yes, only a 2 ring hob thing, but this is greece, self catering, we didnt come here to cook, we came on HOLIDAYT!!! ) TWO bathrooms, amazing super hot powerful jobs (yes, no shower curtain....this is GREECE....whats the saying when in rome....if youre the kind of person who lets a virtual shower curtain spoil your holiday, then thats sad, try spain or wherever it is shower curtain lovers go.) The two bedrooms were huge, the beds very comfy, 3 pillows per bed.......a HUGE balcony, sun all day.......the owners are lovely, the garden is a joy.......It was very peaceful, a lovely setting, we walked up to Lakones, try it, its lovely. Yes, the apartments are on a hill, but the brochure does say this, take your time, ENJOY the walk up or down, this is GREECE, you are on HOLIDAY, take your time, its not a race!!! DONT believe these bad reviews below, they are cruel. perhaps they are from people who havent been to Greece before and expect luxury, you get what you pay for and I can honestly say these are lovely apartments, ask for the apartment for 4 even if theres only 2 of you, its only a few quid more and worth it. ENJOY! PALEOKASTRITSA IS A DREAM!!!

Jacqui and Martin provide everything to ensure you have a 'home in Greece'. They are always on hand to offer help and advice.
We enjoyed our holiday so much last year that we came back this year and have every intention of returning next. We would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone. How thoughtful and useful to be met at the airport, great. They know all the locals and what fun to drive the few miles down to the local seafront taverna ('Mimi' is a MUST!) with J and M and be greeted all the way! Please don't tell anyone about this gorgeous place!
Thanks a million J and M.

As our first time abroad together we were a little dubious as to what to expect. We found the apartments very basic and clean.
A steep hill to the apartments was off putting but bareable. The owners were very friendly although they spoke very little English. We ate out every day and found the local food delicious.
A beautiful small resort, nice and quiet with an excellent bus service to Corfu town, had a lovely time.

If I could rate this dump zero, I would. What an awful place. The owner's grandchildren were allowed to run riot everywhere, kicking footballs into the apartments, clambering across balconies.
The whole area is a haven for mozzies and as soon as dusk falls, it's a case of cover up, abandon the outside and lock the doors. I was bitten very badly as the things just invaded the room through the cracks.
The steep climb became a chore and the lack of air-con made it unbearable at night. The rooms were not only shabby, they were dirty. The shower just flooded the floor and the floor then stayed wet and became very smelly. The kitchen cupboards and utensils were absolutely disgusting.
Despite numerous complaints to Manos, they did nothing. The rep was only really interested in selling very expensive trips! I guess you can tell, I really hated this place. It was, without doubt, a truly hateful experience.
If I could have gone home after the first couple of days, I would have left like a shot. Awful, just doesn't describe that holiday. I will never go back and I will never book or recommend anyone else to book with Manos.

The apartments were supposed to be up a slight incline but instead they were up a very steep mountain.
On the website we visited there should of been an onsite pool however the pool was right at the bottom of the mountain and was shared between 3 hotels ; ours The Odessyeus and The Paradise.
The rooms in our apartments were so basic we had too tiny cooking rings and the pans were at least three times the size.
The kitchen was as wide as a coffee table and as long as a mobile phone.

Having read reviews before leaving UK we had begun to dread what we would find on arrival but we need not have worried these apartments are fine - clean and reasonably well equipped. The owners live on site and were happy to make conversation, we do not speak Greek and their English vocabulary is not vast but we managed to communicate, they wanted us to enjoy our stay and were obviously quite proud of their apartments.
They worked at the property and garden every day we were there. The hill footpath to the apartments is steep and would not suit everyone but it is not a great distance and you just have to pace yourself. Plenty of good restaurants close by, in a week you need never eat at the same place twice!
We did not use the holiday representative at the resort because we prefer to find things out for ourselves but have no complaints with any of the arrangements made by Manos.

We spent a fantastic 2 weeks here. Although basic, we couldn't fault the apartments which are situated up a fairly steep hill but amongst lovely trees. I loved hearing the donkey and the cockerel in the morning and the little kitten became my best friend by the end of the fortnight as we fed it tuna every day!
The main beach is about a 10 minute walk away and we arrived there first every morning to grab our favourite spot. It was a very relaxing beach with several lovely food places nearby - our favourites were Nikos and Smurfs.
The resort is very relaxing and laid back which was ideal as we simply wanted to relax and chill out with good food, beaches and scenery. Our favourite restaurants were Dolphin, Belvedere, Nereids and Limani - all fabulous!
There were several supermarkets within easy reach - one just next to the Oddyseas Hotel which was handy as we could also use the hotel's pool and bar facilities. We made use of the bar area when the World Cup matches were on as it was air-conditioned with a good bar area.
I would stay at the Olive Grove any time and will be back again to stay in the resort as we enjoyed it so much.

I wouldn’t call this a self-catering apartment two star as graded by Manos. The lighting in the room was really badly lit and Mozzies bit me alive. There were cobwebs under the bed and strings of web across the cupboards by spiders in the room. The kitchen utensils, fixture and fittings were disgusting.
The fridge door had polyfiller and looked as if they picked it up from a street. There was a horrible climb to the apartment. The heat in the room was horrible and when we wanted to complain to the owners, they were never to be found. The only time I saw the owner is when he was watering the plants and flowers. He spoke little English.
We complained to Manos and we did not receive a re-location. We relocated privately at a cost to another resort in Agios Gordios. I felt let down by Manos for not dealing with our complaint seriously. I definitely won’t be recommending Manos or Olive Grove to any one.

This apartment was the basic of the basics. The caretaker spoke little English, the rooms were dirty and I highly recommend to not book with Manos Holidays.
We had to relocate privately and paid out a lot of money to a better location in Agios Gordios as Manos wasn't bothered to help us when we requested to be relocated after staying one night in this filthy self catering apartment. The companies attitude was very bad but at least they had their act together when they picked us up at the airport and left Corfu.
After three nights of discomfort and climbing a very steep hill to get to the apartment, there is nothing positive I can say about the place. There was no pool, no bar and no shops close by.
I definitely felt let down and disappointed about the professionalism of Manos and their attitude. They did not help us in any way.

Stayed at the olive grove apartments with my 2 children. Lovely place, and very clean apartments. Nice pool and owner friendly. Bar at the pool but unfortunately this was not open of a night time.
You had to apparently ask the owner "Costas" to open the bar later on the night, but we never saw that happen. Very, very quiet resort and you will need a car for getting about. There are a couple of beaches within walking distance, but this walk can take about 30 mins and longer coming back!
The Tavernas are very spaced out about 20 mins walk between each one. Overall it is a lovely place but if you want a bit of a night life (not wild) then get a taxi into Lassi which is about 20 mins away.

We were very disappointed after 2 weeks in Olive Grove, as we told that it is very peaceful, but it was not. The walls in studios, where we stayed, were so thin, we had to listen others conversations (and singing) coming from next doors all day long, from 7 am till 3 am. It was difficult to sleep as well as place was invented by insects, e.g. mosquitoes. I was bitten in my eye by them twice when asleep as I could not spray my eyes with repellent.
Our studio was so small, it was just one room with a little kitchen table in the corner, which was furnished really poor. All doors of kitchen units were broken; it looked like they have never been changed in past 20-30 years! The toilet/bathroom was awful, one of the worst ones I have seen in years of travelling! There was no curtain or shower door, so after the shower a floor was like a swimming pool.
There is no air condition (with tm +35 C every day or more in a room), and owners asked 3 euros per day for renting a fan from them. Also, they were not very friendly, never offered us any fruits from their trees or wine for sale, actually we have never seen the owner at all since arrival day, and we did not know which room they live in and how to find them if needed.
The location was not very convenient either, it was very high on the hill, even I do not have a problem walking up the hill, I love it usually, but in this case I was suffering when I had to curry big bottles of water up there, as you can not use local water from tap. So, if you do not wish to hire a car, you are in trouble. We were told by locals that scooters, etc. will not go up that hill and nothing will, apart from cars.
Also, I did not find the resort very quite and peaceful, even with a luck of night bars and night life, which should be real heaven for couples, as we thought before, I was suffered much from road noise as the main road of resort during a day is very busy and noisy, making it impossible to enjoy even a little walk to the beach! Actually, the main beach was dirty and packed so much, we never wanted to go there. Smaller ones were a bit better and more clean.
From all bars and restaurants we have been there, we would recommend only two: cafe-bar "Petrino" - not far from Oceanis hotel, across the road, you can easy see it from the main road, the staff there was very friendly and nice, speaking good English, and prices are also much less then everywhere else even for drinks, and also the main restaurant-bar in harbour, I think it called Alpha (?) which is in harbour - on the right side from Olive Grove. We did not like Belvedere bar, I think it was spoiled by too many visitors.
We recommend also take a bus to Corfu town, which is nice and lively. The bus is very easy to find, many stops on the main road, running regular times and very often.

when we went to corfu in 2006 ....we had the best time ever.
we met a lot of friendly people there, bob+lesley, emma, steve any many more.
drink merriment and joy we had every night.
near our studio's we met the famous donkey which we effectionatly named wag the donkey .the snakebites were very quickly overcome by the lovely wine produced from the owners.
the walk from there was a bit of a bugger but once we had the wine it was a float.
the greek entertainment in the near by restaurants were excellent . we fully enjoyed ourselves in the olive grove in palio. We will never forget our nights of great joy. tommy the rat was always entertaining. climbing the rafters he was a great athlete. We did have bites but the wine sorted us out. Stavrula was an excellent host and invited us to visit her new home when it was built. Alex made a new friend in WAG. that's the donkey's name for all of you to use should you wish too.
We did have to climb a massive mountain one day but it was worth the effort in the end. Alex, Sue dipped in the pool but sad old Keith did not take a well earned dip. Daft sod.
Palio is a great place. Great Food, Excellent company and a great holiday to remember.
thanks for making our first holiday together fab.
Keith, Sue and Alex. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
