Aegean Aparthotel Reviews
" This was a gem of a hotel. It was... "
Submitted By: Mr D Morrell
This was a gem of a hotel. It was located in a very quiet rural location where the biggest noise was the sound of birds. It was some 7 minutes walk to the beach and about 15 minutes to the Town Square where the majority of the tavernas were located. The rooms were a good size, basically furnished with a large balcony. It had a fridge and air conditioning but no kettle. The bathroom by Greek standards was good. the shower was efficient with hot water most of the time and even a shower curtain (most unusual for Greece). Breakfast was buffet style with cereals, tinned fruit, yogurt, ham. cheese, boiled eggs, jams, honey, cake and biscuits. Tea, coffee and various speciality teas like mint. There was always two fruit juices. The bread was generally fresh with a choice of white or brown. It was eaten on the veranda . The swimming pool was small and had no shallow end so was no good for non swimmers or children. The sun beds and umbrellas were free. A nice poolside bar with comfortable seating, which we often used after returning from our evening meal out and joined guests staying at the hotel. There was a book exchange library and a small lounge. Safe deposit boxes could be hired for 15 Euros a week and bicycle were available at 5 euros a day. If we say the major negative was the nearest mini market was 12 minute walk away (a struggle when carrying back large bottles of water) the you can see how good we thought the Aegeon Hotel was. The staff were terrific being both helpful and friendly and when we had a minor issue it was rectified almost instantly. The guests were a mixture of British and dutch with the latter being in the majority. The beach at Skala Kalloni is sand shingle and it shelves gently into the sea. 2 sun beds and umbrella could be hired for 5 Euros a day. The main fault with the whole holiday was the sea grass at the bottom which made it unpleasant to walk on when wading out. The tavernas were very good value and we liked Ambrosia and Egnima. Apart from a few mini market and 2 bakeries. there are no other shops here and the nearest Bank with a cash machine is in the town of Kalloni 3 kilometres or nearly an hours walk away. Credit cards are not accepted in many of the local establishments. There are no buses and taxi are a rare commodity so car hire is advisable for part of the holiday .This is a traditional Greek resort with a small fishing harbour and a town square and is recommended for couples who want a lazy holiday with nightlife limited to a prolonged meal in the taverna followed by a drink in the hotel pool side bar. We would certainly recommend the hotel and resort to anyone wanting a get away from it and stress free holiday.

" The Aegeon aparthotel was very basic.... "
Submitted By: Mrs S Black
The Aegeon aparthotel was very basic. The room were clean but had very few extras. We had to beg for a fridge and then were charged despite the Thomas Cook brochure stating it was included in the price. Air Conditioning and a Safe Deposit box were expensive addition expense. No Kettle. Overall the cost of our holiday was a lot higher than expected which meant we had less spending money. Breakfast was poor and the pool was small. The staff did not react well to complaints and their friendly fascade soon disappeared. Also the beach which was a 6 minute walk was not sandy as advertised and was a mixture of shingle and stones. In addition sea grass was a problem in the sea. Skala Kaloni had no public transport and stray dogs roamed the streets are were a big nuisence. At least eating out was good and we found the tavernas to be a high standard. From our experience we could not recommend the hotel or the resort and certainly will not be returning here.

" The Aegeon hotel had some very good... "
Submitted By: Mrs Lucinda Boyce-Martins
The Aegeon hotel had some very good and not so good points. Our rooms was spacious and comfortable but very hot so we had to paty out a large number of Euros for the Air Conditioning hire. There was some confusion about the fridge that was stated as standard in Thomas Cook brochure and it a point we have written our complaint to the tour operator about and we are still awaiting a response. The Rep did not really want to know and was not the best we have come across. The grounds were very nice and the pool small was pleasant with free sunbeds which sometimes were reserved early. A poolside bar than was good and popular with friendly service. The breakfast was better than expected but the coffee was awful. The location was peaceful. The beach was a short stroll and some tavernas were nearby although most of them were a 15 minutes walk. The beach itself was good but the sea had a lot of sea grass which was far from ideal. If you want a lazy holiday in nice surroundings and do not mind the lower standard Greek accomodation usually offers then you could do a lot worse than stay here. Two final points no public transport so car hire is necessary for part of your holiday and credit cards were not usually accepted in tavernas so take plenty of cash . There is an ATM in the town of Kalloni 3 kilometres away but if you do not have a car then it is a 45 minute walk so you will not want to do this too often. Finally there a number of scenic walks in the area so you might want to take some suitable shoes if this activety interests you like it did us. We can home very refreshed.

" Last summer me and my friends stayed... "
Submitted By: Miss Sue Best
Last summer me and my friends stayed in aegeon hotel where we spent great time. Usually, at the pool which was not exactly large but both with the pool bar open till late at night and having cold beer into cold glasses (straight from the fridge).we didn't want to go anywhere else.
Our rooms where quiet spacious ( typical greek room) instead of other hotels and very clean.Every morning maids changed our towels and we had all the time hot water.
The hotel manager(family running business) and staff where enormously friendly.
The only bad thing was the fact that we had to hire bikes so as to go to the village.... and if i remember well we gave 5 eur per day.
we'll go back for sure!!!

" This is a great choice for couples... "
Submitted By: Mr M Brace
This is a great choice for couples who want a quiet and relaxing holiday in a peaceful location. The hotel is situated in the countryside and whilst the beach and tavernas are not on the doorstep they are only a short walk away. The hotel is typically Greek the rooms are pleasant and clean and a fridge is vailable on request. We found the air conditioning a necessary extra expense- it was rather expensive. The pool area is great with free sunbeds and umbrellas and the pool bar is well run. Breakfast is fairly basic but worth having. The resort is not commercialised so do not expect fast food restaurants and late music bars. The tavernas are varied burt generally good but be warned food is served at a slow pace. The fish was excellent. The beach where you can sunbeds and umbrellas is course sand with some see weed but being in a bay it shelves gently into the sea, ideal for anyone whio is not a strong swimmer. The area is good for walkers and bird watchers. We can recommend both the hotel and resort if you want a lazy quiet holiday where you feel perhaps you have gone back a decade or two. Two points of note credit cards are not accepted in many establishments in the resort and there is no public transport.

" The Aegeon Aparthotel was an ideal... "
Submitted By: Mrs J White
The Aegeon Aparthotel was an ideal choice for us. It has 47 rooms and it not too big or small. The rooms are simply furnished but clean and comfortable. Also it was not too cramped. We had a fridge in the room which we utilised a lot.
The swimming pool is on the smaller size and the sun beds are free. The poolside bar was a nice place to mingle with other guests also all of which were couples. There were a number of Dutch guests at this accommodation and in the resort as a whole. It is not ideal for a family holiday and children would be very bored here.
The beach is only 4 minutes walk away and most of the tavernas are about 15 minutes walk which is perhaps slightly longer than we would have liked but on the other hand the location is very tranquil. Our only slight gripe was the additional costs for air conditioning and safe deposit box both of which added considerably to the overall cost of the holiday.
The staff were friendly and welcoming especially when you were spending money. The breakfast was better than some in Greece but still nothing to get excited about! The resort of Skala Kallini has a nice beach that shelves very gently into the sea. Some seaweed is evident and in common with most places in Greece it is not cleared up. The tavernas were very authentic, good and by today's standards cheap. The sardines were great and there was a choice of a variety of fresh locally caught fish but be aware some of it is charged by weight and bill can then be unexpectedly expensive. Not many tavernas and shops accept credit cards so go prepared. Public transport is nonexistent so car hire for part of your holiday is recommended.

" We booked at the Aegean Aparthotel... "
Submitted By: Mr D Schofield
We booked at the Aegean Aparthotel and got to say it was fantastic.
The apartment that they gave us was very spacious, and the maids always kept the rooms clean. You have to pay for the air conditioning separately, but it’s cheap enough and it is a godsend as it does get hot.
They have a great swimming pool area and I found the bar to be very cheap and great value for the dinner time snacks.
It’s a little bit of a hike to reach the beach and it’s a steep walk back but actually enjoyed that as its good exercise. However I wasn’t carrying lilos or anything otherwise it would have been hard work.
Overall we had a fantastic holiday and we really did get a bargain last minute deal so it was great value for money. It was a really nice quiet and relaxing holiday and if that’s what you are looking for then this is the place to come.
I most definitely will be coming back.

" A totally fantastic base to explore... "
Submitted By: Mrs J Pryor
A totally fantastic base to explore the beach area of Skala Kalloni, and within 40 minutes of walking distance from the town of Kalloni, this is a lovely hotel set in beautiful gardens, extremely helpful staff, exceptionally clean, with a great bar & pool area.
This hotel is mainly suited to couples so not a lot of children were there whilst we stayed.
We had the most relaxing wonderful week, & cannot recommend it highly enough, big thank you to all staff for making your holiday so enjoyable and will definitely be going back.
