" Good Greek accomodation. Small but... "
Submitted By: Mrs E M Gordon
Good Greek accomodation. Small but nothing wanting except perhaps some sun loungers for the patio.
Well serviced and clean. Friendly, unobtrusive owners who did their utmost to ensure that we had a good stay despite the language barriers.
These studios are quiet and well-situated for the beach. The beach is lovely and was not overcrowded at all in the first week of August. It shelves quite steeply and is great for swimming and snorkelling. Perhaps not a particularly good beach for very young children for this reason. Plenty of tavernas on the beach front and in Anaxos itself. Local, friendly supermarket. Swimming pools in local hotels are open to the public upon purchase of a drink (although we didn't feel the need and preferred the beach).
Bus services to Petra and Molyvos are good and regular. Both towns are well worth a visit. Views from the castle in Molyvos are spectacular although I was pleased that my young son wasn't with me - very steep drops from the ramparts with few or no barriers!
Lesvos is different from other islands that I have visited but no less beautiful - a combination of fantastic coastline and mountainous terrain inland.
A great holiday destination - I found it perfect for a quiet, romantic, "getaway from it all" scenario"

" 2 weeks in a simple Greek apartment... "
Submitted By: Mr N Payne
2 weeks in a simple Greek apartment with 2 daughters (14 and 10), myself and my wife were apprehensive to say the least! The holiday turned out to be one of those holidays where you just don't want to come home. (Even the kids shed a tear).
The apartments are simple and Greek but are perfectly adequate as long as you are not expecting 5* luxury and the extent of your cooking is coffee! They are also kept spotlessly clean by Nikki, the owner.
Anaxos itself is a small village which in mid-August was very quiet. There appeared to be no all night bars and discos and all the tavernas we tried served excellent, reasonably priced fare.
The village beach was not to our taste (too many umbrellas and coarse sand) but with a car you have in my opinion the most dramatic of all Greek islands to explore. However, if you just want to laze the days away there are numerous swimming pools in the tavernas which are free to use, just buy a beer. (The Harris Hotel pool is not free to use despite what Manos say).
Also worth saying that we last visited Lesvos 16 years ago to return to Sigri for the 2nd time. Apart from the island roads having improved and there appears to be more wealth on the island there has been very little change, it is still relatively unspoilt and remains a very Greek, Greek island.
Would we go back? Oh yes, tomorrow if we could and we would stay in the same apartment and have Nikki look after us. What a brilliant holiday!!

" This is a quiet, friendly place to... "

This is a quiet, friendly place to stay. My two children were presented with a bucket and spade on arrival, my parents were taught Greek by Niki and we were left a present of watermelon on one evening.
The balconies are a lovely place to sit and enjoy the quiet garden and the donkey resident in the adjoining field is very friendly.
As the other reviewer mentioned the bathrooms are very basic but for two weeks we coped.
Don't try and find a quicker way to the beach just follow the road around and stop off at Anthony's for a chat on the way.

" The holiday started well with a good... "
Submitted By: Ms S Vaughan-schiele
The holiday started well with a good flight and a friendly rep to meet us, but in the studios the mattresses were damp and the blankets mouldy.
This made for a freezing night as the temps were low in early may at night. In the morning I discovered what had been biting me in the night. Bedbugs!
The young rep was unable to help much and the company manager said he could not help us the following night by which time we had rented a car so we had somewhere to sleep, luckily!?
The next day the company manager came to 'help' and was dismissive, rude, and thoroughly unhelpful. The owners of the studios were very sweet but don't speak English and, as I said, the company manager was useless.
Due to the efforts of the studio owner we were found another studio but as we had booked and paid for 2 studios, one each, we were not having the holiday privacy we had wanted when we paid for 2 studios.
Also, we were only offered the same mouldy bed-buggy blankets as we had had on the original beds so we were freezing cold for most of the holiday and only finally offered fresh blankets ( cleaned) for the last 3 nights of our 2 week stay.
On arriving back in England I sent the original complaints form which we had filled in whilst in situ in Anaxos plus a covering letter. This was sent back with a letter thanking me for my 'feed-back' and stating that they hoped I would use Manos again!
No mention of any compensation for not having 2 studios or for the disruption and inconvenience. I now detest Manos Holidays, would never use them again, and would strongly advise anyone else against using them.

A friendly typically Greek apartments, Niki was very helpful.
The apartments are all ground floor and are Greek (bathroom especially). Situated in a very quiet area, no traffic. The apartments are handy for all of Anaxos.

Paradise Apartments are a slice of rustic greece...everything you need, in a good location and clean. Owners are on site and are around but not intrusive....and how lovely to be left bowls of fresh plums for your breakfast! It is a small, shady little site which is accessed through a gate (this is closed at night) and felt very safe. We really enjoyed our week at Paradise and consider it to be really good value for money.
Advice: Very quiet and not hit by tourism yet. Don't expect to be entertained, bring a few books and chill o
Activities: Any selling fresh seafood. Go to the end of the beach, have a beer and watch the sun go down.
Good for: Beach
