" We stayed at the Litsa between July... "
Submitted By: Mr R Richards
We stayed at the Litsa between July 6th & July 13th 2008. Whilst I cannot fault the cleanliness of the apartments and the lovely resort/harbour/coves. Unfortunately we stayed in the 'old block' This is now beginning to look a bit old and sad and is in need of updating. Our apartment door did not close properly and neither did the toilet/shower door, although this did not seem to bother the ants that infested the toilet/shower.
I would wish to make everyone aware that the complex is divided into two. The old block (the one shown in the brochure) and the new block which is situated behind the old block.
Be aware that if you have a room that IS NOT A SUPERIOR ROOM >>YOU WILL NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING OR A TV<<
So please do visit Agios Nikolaos and do visit the Litsa but if you want air conditioning &/or a TV PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR A SUPERIOR ROOM.

The Litsa Apartments are located a very short walk from the harbour and very convenient for the ouzeria, tavernas and local shops. The local Pantazi beach is quite rocky and not suitable for sunbathing but there is a beach bus which runs regularly through the day to Stoupa or Kardymili which have great beaches and more going on. If you want to take advantage of the livelier night-life in Stoupa, Kardymili or beyond, then car hire is definitely recommended as the bus stops running around 7.30pm GMT (Greek Maybe Time).
The owners take great pride in maintaining a clean and hospitable environment for everyone. The pool is cleaned thoroughly every morning, as are the grounds. Our rep informed us that the Litsa was very basic, but actually thought they were well above average for a Greek self-catering holiday. Air-con is essential if staying during the hot months and well worth the extra cost. Air-con is not available in every room, but these do have large fans which help. The rooms are scrupulously cleaned twice a week and replenished with fresh sheets and towels.
The Litsa Apartments are more suited for couples who want a relaxing holiday away from families with young children. I would definitely stay there again!!

" The Litsa Studios (Direct Greece) are... "

The Litsa Studios (Direct Greece) are in a good, slightly elevated position in Aghios Nikolaos which is a small working fishing village with superb fish restaurants. Great place for a relaxing quiet holiday and chance to see a traditional Greek village before it becomes too commercial. Coach transfer south from Kalamata airport takes about 1 ¾ hours. Very scenic mountain drive.
Studio accommodation on ground and 1st floor. 4 rooms face rearwards overlooking adjacent properties and mountains beyond. The other 8 rooms overlook the swimming pool & established pretty gardens. 4 rooms on 1st floor which overlook pool also have good sea and village views. No air conditioning but free electric fans in each studio. Although fairly basic the studios are very clean & comfortable. The excellent gardens & pool are attended to everyday by the Greek owners. Plenty of sun beds on spacious poolside terrace.
A road runs through the village past the accommodation leading to the harbour area of Aghios Nikolaos. So some traffic noise is heard but wasn’t a problem for us. Bus stop for the hourly bus to other nearby villages including Stoupa is just past the Litsa Studios garden gate.
A medical centre is adjacent to the Litsa Studios & a chemist just 30 yards down the road leading towards harbour. The village centre consists of 6 or 7 tavernas clustered around the picturesque harbour, 1 supermarket, 1 post office, 2 cafes, 1 fruit market, 1 bakery, 2 bars & a gift shop. Also a cycle hire shop near the post office and estate/car hire agent business.
Most restaurants served large selection of good quality food at reasonable prices. The best restaurants are the excellent ‘Oi Kayapes’ on the corner just before the harbour facing the post office, ‘Vezuvio Taverna’ next door to the equally good ‘Faros restaurant’ both overlooking sea at the end of the harbour near lighthouse.
I would avoid the ‘To Nimani’ restaurant overlooking the southern end of harbour near the gift shop… Although the food was ok the service and attitude of the waiting staff there was extremely rude & ignorant. Very unusual experience to the good friendly service we usually experience from the Greeks.
Nearest beach (Pantazis Beach) approx 20 minutes walk away to south of Ag Nik - just keep going past harbour. Has 2 bars for food & drinks.
A pathway passing the Anna Maria Studios from northern outskirts Aghios Nikolaos runs along the coast to Stoupa. It is currently been concreted for its full length. Another path just opposite the Anna Maria Studios leads down to enchanting hidden coves with a swimming platform & deeply eroded caves, great for snorkelling & diving.
A 3km walk north to Stoupa takes about 50 mins. Cafe Maniatiko with free swimming pool is on the walk halfway between Aghios Nikolaos & Stoupa with superb sea views - stop and have a drink, light refreshment and use the swimming pool!

" Just returned from the Litsa... "
Submitted By: Mr R L Oldfield
Just returned from the Litsa Apartments in Ag Nik. Would agree with the comments already added (except we did not get air conditioning - just fans but were in the front block nearest to the pool). Good tavernas in Ag Nik, especially Suella & Freddie's (first one on approach into village on left hand side opposite 1st Supermarket and Post Office and also 'main' one on harbour side (by the road). The road is closed at night by the harbour area from 20.00 to 0100 for all vehicles, so is quiet ongoing. 3 supermarkets, well stocked but not much in the way of souvenirs to take back.
No complaints about the Litsa Apartments - clean, maintained and well worth a visit & stay.
Enjoy
Roy & Sue

" We stayed at the Lisa Apartments in... "

We stayed at the Lisa Apartments in June. The Apartment we had was excellent. It was the very first one and had its own separate bedroom.
The people who look after this complex do not speak very good English but if you needed anything you could make yourself understood.
The Rep was good too keen to help you have a good time but not pushy at all.
This block is kept very very clean the owners make sure all the paths are swept every day and even hose down on an evening.
The place is very relaxing not for couples with small children.
We were disappointed that we could not hire a Motorbike to tour round but did not let this spoil our holiday.
We walked along the costal path most days into Stoupa there was a small Tervana half way there so you could stop and have a drink. The lady who ran it was English called Stella very nice.
We would like to go back again in a few years.
Really would recommend the Lista.

Great location, just 3 mins walk from the fishing harbour at Aghios Nikolaos. Basic room but clean and nicely furnished. Twin beds with sofa. Nice balcony. Kitchenette, 3 hot plates, oven and a fridge. Nice hot shower.
Room cleaned and linen changed twice a week. Air conditioning (paid locally) essential during our stay. The owner takes great pride in keeping the place clean and tidy, even sweeping the road outside the apartments!
Nice pool, not huge but big enough for a swim. Ag Nik itself is a small fishing village with the local catch being sold at the harbour each morning. A supermarket and good selection of tavernas make eating easy.
Bus goes along the coast to the various beaches. There is a nice coastal footpath to neighbouring Stoupa. Overall, a great place for a relaxing quiet holiday and chance to see a traditional Greek village before it becomes too commercial.
