I have just come back from Hotel Valentin Star with my family (me, my boyfriend, our 5 month old daughter, Mum & Dad & Aunt) and had a wonderful time, we went right at the end of season as I have a 5 month old daughter, The hotel is immaculate and the staff are very very friendly. On reading some reviews on the hotel before going I was worried as some say the food is not very good, we managed to find something to eat everyday - they even cooked us chips one night as they only had potatoes in chilli sauce, The pool was very cold but love;y once you are in - the bar inside the hotel was nice - a bit exspensive but what do you expect when your in the hotel, the Bar Manager Dionisimo a.k.a John Travolta was really friendly and made a mean cocktail! I would definately return to this hotel. If you have booked to go here you will have a lovely holiday! The entertainment was superb - Little Stars, Celtic Dancer, Elvis, Robbie Williams, Celine Dion - all very good!!

My husband and I have just returned from a fantastic, relaxing holiday at the Valentin Star. We were very worried, having read earlier comments, but the welcome at Reception immediately put our minds at rest - very professional. Our room was spacious, comfortable and sparkling clean. The Pool area was a delight and the sunbeds fully adjustable. The food at meal times was varied, plentiful and well presented - there was something for even the fussiest of eaters. The staff were friendly and attentive. The only thing I would say is if you like a cuppa in the morning, then take your travel jug and teabags as there is no courtesy tray. We just couldn't fault this Hotel and have no hesitation in recommending it. We will definitely return!

Great holiday, hope to return...

Great holiday, hope to return next year with the kids and grandkids. Anyone not happy with this hotel must have a serious problem. Our only problem was the holiday didn't last long enough. Money very well spent it was worth every penny.

We stayed at Valentin Star Hotel at Cala n Bosch. The actual resort was very clean, the hotel was immaculate and I would rate it as 5 star. The hotel staff was very nice, very polite and all very pleasant. The hotel is situated around the Marina which is lovely. The only down side I would give is that it lacked a little night life, although there are bars and some lovely restaurants, (all situated around the marina) they are very much the same, singers till midnight, although a couple of them do serve until 3 or 4 am. But after a couple of nights of listening to the same singer doing the same songs, it gets a little boring, my only other comment also was that it was quite expensive, 2 pints of lager was costing 7 Euro (just over £3 pint). We decided to have breakfast out of the hotel one morning at Chaplins (a bar/restaurant) we had 2 small breakfasts (1 egg, 1 Saus, 1 bacon, beans and one toast) and two coffee which came to 12 Euro (£10.00).

The beach is situated close by just off the Marina, which was nice white sand etc. although on our last day we couldn't go into the sea due to an infestation of Jellyfish.

I would highly recommend the hotel and the pool area is beautiful, if you are looking for relaxation (which we did get) and don't mind repetative singers this is the place for you. It is a shame that there isn't a little more there as it is a very pretty, clean island.

A recommended thing to do is get the bus costing 3.50 Euro per couple up to the town of Ciudadella (said Thudadella) it is a very large town with cobbled streets, shops and a large harbour. The bus drops you straight in the centre square and takes about 15 mins to get there. You get the bus back at the same place, every 15 mins upto 2.30 every 30 mins thereafter.

Although I have a couple of issues, we did enjoy our holiday and it is a lovely place, just not quite enough for us entertainment wise.

I came back from my holiday yesterday. I had the time of my life at the Valentin Star. The hotel is of excellent standard, it is very clean, the staff are very pleasent, entertainment is on every night and the food is fine.

Do not listen to the other reviews where people are making negative comments about the hotel. I have stopped in 5* hotels and this is much better than them.

The nightlife is very good, there are no nightclubs just bars and restaraunts, which is perfect.

I only came back yesterday but I am already ringing tour operators to book again. I really didnt want to come home and could have easily lived at that hotel for the rest of my life it was superb.

After reading all the comments before we went on holiday i was rather worried especially having spent £1700 on the holiday! We have been back 3 weeks and had a FANTASTIC time. The hotel and staff are EXCELLENT. I just want to make it clear that the food isnt as bad as everyone is making it out to be, there is something for everyone unless you are vegie (not much choice). Breakfast is served between 8 and 10, you can have bacon, eggs, sausages, beans, toms, a chef making fresh ommletts and toasted sarnies while you wait (They are very nice!!!) Loads of fresh fruit, pastries, cereals, hams, cheeses and toast!

Im not going to list everything we had for evening meal but it was something different every night, again there is something for everyone and we really enjoyed it! Please dont let the other comments put you off, we are planning to go next year with my family.

As for cala n bosch the place is lovely and relaxed, the beach was nice and not really too over crowded.

It is worth taking a trip to Ceutidella which takes about 25 mins on the airconditioned buses which dont get over crowded like the buses in Greece! and also to the capital Mahon which is a nice place especially if you like shopping!

The hotel pool is excellent no matter what time we went we always got a lounger.

If you want a meal out go to toro nego steak house its quite expensive but the steak is excellent!

Also Bar Med do donna kababs which are GEORGEOUS not greasy like ours at home!

The best sangria is served at the Kola Bar across from the hotel, they had only been open 2 weeks when we got there so definalty go and have a drink!!

I would rate the hotel as 10/10 so please listen dont be put off by the other comments.

We went with first choice and the rep was brilliant.

Without question a 4* pool area, and maybe a 4* hotel, although the food was appauling, breakfast was the easiest to stomach, however unless you like fish, undercooked meat (namely a "pork" kebab) or Paella, then your stuck with pizza and chips ! We also had a dessert on day 3 of 7 which underneath the small apple tart was covered in mould !! we confronted the manager, and instead of profusely apologising there was just excuses as to why a 4* hotel would be serving mouldy food - he suggested it would be fine to eat and even said he would have been prepared to eat it himself, but when asked to oblige he wasnt able to - the best excuse was that the mould on the tart was due to their fridge system being very humid, unfortunatly when i suggested he may need an electrician he didnt quite understand !! we also spoke to reception about this and wanted to speak to the hotel manager who was supposed to contact us the next day - guess what ? we still have heard nothing ! dont be put off as the resort is very nice around the harbour with choices of resturants also.

Overall, a very good hotel, and a very good holiday.

The outstanding features of the hotel are without question the Swimming area and facilities, and Customer service, they really cannot do enough for you. The hotel doors being open 24/7 are also great for those that like to party.

The food is good without being very good, and you will generally always find something you like from the large selection (which is largely the same night after night). The lunches on offer from the poolside restaurant, although slightly expensive, are superb. Best to avoid the cocktails though, and combinations such as Malibu & Coke etc, as the prices are at the very least mind-boggling (upwards of €7 each). The nightly entertainment is generally very good also, with live professional acts performing almost every night, both on the exclusive terrace, or the hotel owned bar in the heart of the Cala'n Bosch marina.

That said, basically wherever you are in the hotel it is noisy until about midnight. Also the beds have wheels (whoever came up with that idea?), so you could wake up on the other side of the room quite literally. Another slight downer is that the restaurant staff dont use much common sense when showing you to your seats, placing people in bunches on the same table/s rather than spreading people about. The Pool tables are in very poor condition and are unreliable i.e the balls clearly didnt come with the table, and are nearly all chipped badly.

If you are looking for a relaxing day and heavy night, this is probably the place for you.

If you are looking for a relaxing day and relaxing night, bring ear plugs / go at a different time of the year.

Overall though, the positives far outweigh the negatives and i would be more than happy to recommend this hotel to a friend.

June 2008-Our 2nd visit to valentin star menorca. Hotel, as previous, clean. Rooms,

as previous, clean-although maid service on this 2nd visit left a bit to be desired.

My husband & I hoped that there would be some improvement on the food this year-unfortunately there wasnt. The staff in the Restuarant are great but the food was never

hot, even at breakfast time, 1st there but the beans were always cold!!!

The reserving of sunbeds has been stopped, but to throw peoples towels in a corner by

the pool is not the best of ideas-we were lucky-but others werent. As far as not being able to have your own liquids by the poolside!! We dont have children but felt

for the ones who did and had to pay over the top prices for a bottle of water.

Come on Valentin Star Management! You have a great hotel, make the best of it and

get these issues sorted then the clientele you are trying to attract will come your way.

The Hotel was lovely, Staff warm and friendly. Lovely hotel room

The pool was great but many guests did reserve sun beds even though were told not too, we found ourselves a couple of times with no place to sit.

The room had TV which was good but all the channels where either in German or Spanish! No English speaking TV which was a shame because our room was nice enough to want to sit in and watch TV from our balcony at night The entertainment was a bit 'karaoke' but a laugh, but no dancing or disco’s

The food wasn't that great and we found our selves struggling to find fresh veg foods and the meat was at times not always cooked properly

Cala n Bosh do not have 'beaches' but little sandy coves' which are beautiful, but with no sun beds and you would need to take a parasol with you as there is no cover from the sun.

Cala n Bosh is lovely but after the third/ fourth day we were struggling to find something to-do and began to get a little bored. The harbour was lovely at night with bars and restaurants but again after you had been there it got a bit much every night

We found that as a 50 something couple we were in the middle of the age group, many were either young married couples with babies or retired couples happy to laze by the pool. We were looking for something a bit more lively but it wasn’t to be

Nice place if you want to slow down relax and just chill out

Me, my wife and 12 month old daughter have just returned from the Valantin Star. On arrival we where made very welcome and where impressed with the hotel and its surroundings. Our room was very clean and modern looking as you would expect from a 4 star rated hotel and we could not complain about the daily maid service. The pool area is excellent with better than average sunloungers. We where informed that by no means should towels be left on beds if you are not returning in the near future otherwise towels will be removed. Towels being left on beds did happen and removal of towels didn't which was a little dissapointing if you wanted a bed in the afternoon. The night time entertainment was superb with various and unique acts most nights that got most people up dancing and singing another good point of the hotel. The main concern with bar was the cost of drinks....! By far the dearest drinks i have ever bought. A large beer (pint) and a vodka and coke 11.70 Euros !!! Which did concern me a little but as i said the entertainment was superb. As for entertaining the kids.... nothing apart from a German girl putting on a once a week 30 min mini disco

The main complaint of the hotel was the huge matter of the restraunt. The staff and facilities where tremendous the food... Well that was the main concern, as i said we had taken our 12 month old daughter to what we thought where 4 star facilities. The restraunt was a 2 star at best the evening meal food was bland mostly fish and veal with chips being the only potatoes every night. We couldnt understand why there was so much effort on the salad and deserts when the soup and main courses (anything hot) had so little choice and was bland. The breakfast situation was a little better with pastries, toast bacon eggs etc but as i have said no veg at evening time but veg at Breakfast was a little puzzling. Whilst we where there the first choice customers some who had been going year on year demanded a meeting with the management which they got. They felt there had been cut backs in the Hotlel compared to previous years and the meals and daytime entertainment had suffered. The food did get a little better after the meeting with an omellett bar opening in the morning, more pasta and potatoe based dishes, the food heated correctly and a little more choice. We didnt complain we just choose to eat out a little bit more which we didnt budget for but choose to do.

The holiday was spoilt in the main by the weather we got and the food, other wise i cannot complain to much about Cala n Bosch, the beaches where clean if a little small, there are a few selections of bars to drink in that are much cheaper than the hotel. I dont think we will be venturing back to Cala n Bosch and cannot say i would recommend the hotel either.

My wife, 22 month old son and I travelled on the 21st sep 2007. We arrived early about lunchtime and the room was not ready so we made ourselves busy.

Once we finally got to our room we started to check out the hotel and have our first evening meal. We were met at the restaurant by the host Jose and his team, we were made to feel instantly welcome, and the array of food was immense.

Overall the staff at the hotel were absolutely fantastic, my son enjoyed seeing them all and they made him feel very welcome. We cannot fault the hotel at all what a beautiful place.

Whilst we felt safe and relaxed there was very little to entertain a youngster. When the weather was rainy all families there found it difficult to amuse the children. If your children are over 3 yrs old then no problem but not for the under threes.

Please do not be put off by this remark this is only our opinion and you will still have a wonderful experience.

June 2007 was our third time back to the Valentin Star. On our first holiday we thought we had died and gone to Heaven. The hotel is spotless, aided by their very friendly staff and the food is superb.

The local beach is about five minutes away and they do have problems with jelly fish, but when you can swim the water is crystal clear.

The transport service is second to none, and the rules are strict, no t-shirt - no ride!

This hotel was one of the best that we have stayed in. We booked for 4 nights in July (school holidays), 2 rooms booked with Thomson and 1 with Expedia.

The Expedia booking was much cheaper, by about £200, which if you are booking 2 or 3 rooms for a week or more would be a huge saving. Our party consisted of 2 adults, 2 fifteen year olds and a five year old.

We arrived at the hotel in the early evening and were immediately impressed with the helpful attitudes of the reception staff and the porter.

Our rooms were all near to each other but not next door and we were asked to let reception know if this was a problem and they would sort it out the next morning - they did!

We had pool views and the rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. There were no tea/coffee making facilities but this didn't worry us too much. You could take your own travel kettle if you need that early morning cup of tea.

Pool towels, bath robes, and excellent toiletries including bottles of shampoo and shower gel were provided. The rooms were cleaned every day.

The pool was great, starting as shallow as a paddling pool and very gradually getting deeper - perfect for young children. Our kids spent most of the time in the pool. The pool area was very clean and there were no fights for sunbeds!

The sunbeds and parasols were not your usual cheap plastic. The pool bar/snack bar was great with attentive, friendly service and reasonable prices.

The restaurant was unbelievable; I had not expected great things having read one or two dodgy reviews. The staff were friendly, the food selection was amazing, and we didn't find it too crowded.

A typical evening buffet consisted of veal, pork, chicken, fish, paella, pizza, salad, vegetables, chips (!), pasta, every kind of fruit imaginable, ice cream, other pastries and desserts. It would be hard not to find something you like - one of my children is a fussy eater but he ate really well. The breakfast was again wonderful - cooked breakfast, meat, cheese, cereals, bread, pastries, and biscuits.

I was worried that the entertainment might be a bit cheesy - it was and it wasn't! We saw African Acrobats (my 5 year old liked this), The Beatles (Menorcan/Spanish) very funny but good. The Four Tops got everyone up dancing which was great fun.

There really wasn't much in the way of children's entertainment at hotel, but it wasn't necessary. The pool was great, the beaches were nearby. Cala'n Bosch beach was a few minutes’ walk and Son Xoriguer a bit further but much better. The resort had plenty of evening entertainment for adults, teenagers, and young children.

This hotel was right in the centre of the resort and despite that was not noisy. There were a few quiet peaceful areas of the hotel that you could escape to during the day or evening in any event.

We really enjoyed the fact that this hotel wasn't too loud but was a good place for a family holiday without everything being too organised or tacky. There were guests from UK, Spain, Menorca, Germany, France and this was a great mix. There were families, couples, small groups of friends, and a couple of single people - I think that everyone felt comfortable. We were so impressed that we would like to book for 2 weeks next year.

The best hotel I have ever been in. I agree with the other comments and Monika was a very friendly waitress!

The pool is so spotless and music is played nearly all the time to ensure your holiday is relaxing and the resort has fabulous facilities and shops.

All the staff were good and I have no down points apart from the cleaners didn’t speak English but what can you expect from a place that seems so far from home when its only a two hour flight from Norwich airport!

Book here with First Choice it is the best hotel to go to in the area, it’s a lovely quiet island, unlike Ibiza and is perfect for a family holiday, even you elderly relatives will love it here.

With very friendly locals, and the best tasting milkshakes and cocktails, you have to come here its beaches are fantastic and I highly recommend the glass bottom boats and a bus trip to Ciutadella is great when there’s a market.
