" A lovely hotel in Cala n' Bosch right... "

A lovely hotel in Cala n' Bosch right on the Marina and only a 5-10 mins walk from the beach - whilst there we did experience jelly fish in the sea, this we were told was due to a recent storm. The rooms were very clean, although a little small for 2 adults and toddler - however the staff were happy to move us to a slighter bigger room.

The swimming pool was excellent, suitable for all ages as it gently sloped at a gradient (excellent for kids). Had a good choice for food, although at times it wasn't particular hot - but a wide variety from salads, fresh cooked fish or meat, pasta and lovely deserts!!

The hotel wasn't full of children, mostly couples (young and senior) and families with young children (under 5) - so a fairly quiet hotel. Entertainment didn't really exist during the day, however there was nightly shows - some good, some bad. However the hotel was extremely expensive for drinks, if you were going to stay and watch any shows.

I would certainly go back as we had a lovely time. Beware the transfer takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours due to the road system and dropping off of other tourists.

" Very pretty resort with a lovely... "

Very pretty resort with a lovely little marina. Plenty of good shops including a well stocked supermarket and loads of bars and restaurants. Regular bus service into nearest town and very reasonable fares.

Beach was O.K. but had lots of Jellyfish while we were there. It was about 5 minutes walk away from the hotel. Hotel itself was superb and well deserving of its 4 star rating. Pool has to be the most fantastic I have ever seen, very well designed for little people, non swimmers and swimmers alike.

Food was plentiful, varied and well presented even having fresh food cooked in front of you, including delicious omlettes at breakfast. Staff were always helpful and pleasant remembering our names and what we liked to drink. My only criticism is the number of steps in the complex, there were even 2 steps in our room! Having had a knee operation and suffering from arthritis in the other knee I found getting around quite difficult at times.

I think mention should be made of this in the brochure. However overall we had a wonderful holiday and would recommend the Valentin Star to anyone who wants a peaceful, relaxing holiday where they can feel pampered and spoilt. Well Done!

" Fabulous Hotel set in a small harbour... "

Fabulous Hotel set in a small harbour of Cala n Bosch. Hotel was very clean and had a wonderful pool. Food was really impressive such a lot to choose from. The entertainment on the whole was bordering on bad but we found that quite funny. Having said that there were some acts that were very good (Lord of the dance, Spanish dancers,) the staff were at all times very friendly, helpful and polite.

The beach was a little walk away but well worth the visit, it is small and I think could get busy in the height of the season. You can hire all types of vehicles from family bikes, boats ,cars, but if you don’t fancy that there is a good bus service which takes you into town then from there you can catch a bus to anywhere on the island at very reasonable rates.

So a good holiday was had by all a nice quite family resort with a laid back feel. Great for relaxing and not doing anything to stressful. 10/10.

" I went to the Valentin Star Hotel... "

I went to the Valentin Star Hotel with my partner. The hotel is just off a lovely little Marina with a number of bars, restaurants and pubs all overlooking the boats in the bay. Extremely relaxing and wonderful food at fair prices although we thought the drinks were pricey.

The Hotel was OK more a 3 star+ than 4 star. The rooms were cleaned everyday, the pool was spacious, the room had basic facilities and nice bathroom with excellent shower, the restaurant too was good inside with plenty of friendly staff but we preferred to sit out side. There was a good choice of food.

I would say that this resort was a mix of Germans, Spanish and mainly British tourists and most definitely has a family appeal. The beach was a sandy beach and only 200 yards away but a 10 min walk to the next one was even better. I would recommend this hotel and resort for anyone who wants a bit of everything. The Island it self is very clean with a very good bus service. Although car hire is a must to see everything the bus can’t reach.

" I went to the Valentin Star Hotel... "

I went to the Valentin Star Hotel with my girlfriend. We are in our mid 20's. Driving through the island on the Transfer we went through a number of little villages and complexes and were thrilled when we eventually arrived at clearly the best one of the lot. The hotel is just off a lovely little Marina with a number of bars, restaurants and pubs all overlooking the boats in the bay. Extremely relaxing and wonderful food and drink at fair prices.

The Hotel itself was brilliant. Rooms cleaned everyday by really friendly staff, reception couldn't do enough to help and the bar staff always remembered your face and your choice of tipple! Loved the pool, the room had an excellent shower, bathroom and the restaurant too was brilliant with an excellent choice of food (some cooked fresh in front of you).

I would say that this resort was has a healthy mix of Germans and British tourists and most definitely has a family appeal. (There seemed to be a pram everywhere you looked!) The beach was fine and only 200 yards away. I would definitely recommend this hotel and resort for anyone who just wishes to relax.

" Me 38, Wife 39, Our son 3.
The... "

Me 38, Wife 39, Our son 3.
The hotel was fully refurbished in 2004/2005 and warrants its four stars in the Thomson brochure.

Communal areas were presented to a very high standard, and these and the rooms were kept spotlessly clean by a very efficient and friendly staff. The hotel is in a perfect location, right next to the marina of Cala N Bosch (the Hotel restaurant actually looks out on the marina) and about 200m from the main beach of Cala N Bosch. There is also the Son Xorgieur beach about ten minutes' walk away.

The food quality and quantity was great (though a few more local Menorcan dishes would have been great to complement the 'international' cuisine). The pool is fantastic, with a large shallow end ideal for young kids. Finding a vacant pool-side sun bed was occasionally a problem but they were available most of the time. There is a kids mini-disco in the bar in the early evening followed by nightly evening shows. The ones we saw were average to good, but because the hotel is so near to the centre of resort activity most people seemed to go to the town in the evening.

Clientele was a mix of English and Germans with a few Spaniards also. It was mostly couples, with ages from mid-20s to retired people. There were also a large number of couples with children under 4. It's not a 'buzzing' hotel so maybe would not be suitable for a family with older children and would definitely not suit teenagers, but for those couples and young families looking for a quiet, high-quality hotel to base themselves, Valentin Star is one you should consider. Cala N Bosch itself is great - good selection of bars and restaurants but very few British Pubs, Fish and Chip shops etc (so it's way up market compared to, say, Cala N Blanes). There's free nightly live music by the marina in the summer season - a favourite for young kids to show off their funky moves!

Cala n Bosch is ideal for half-day boat trips from the marina and is only 20 minutes by bus (which runs very regularly) from Cuitadella. We'd definitely come back to the Valentin Star if we ever go to Menorca again.

" We have just arrived back from a... "

We have just arrived back from a fabulous week staying at the Valentin Star Hotel, we had a great room on the higher level, overlooking the entertainment area, so we had our own personal box. The accommodation was very good, very clean and spacious; the cleaners were in every day. The swimming pool was very clean and not too busy whilst we were there, but there is plenty of room for children and adults to enjoy themselves.
The evening entertainment was not always to our taste, but its difficult to please everyone all the time.
We were half board and although we have never been on a package holiday before we were very pleasantly surprised. The food was very very good and so much choice. The hotel staff and reps were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, and my husband and I are going back in 2005 but for 2 weeks next time. If you are thinking of booking the Valentin Star, go ahead you will have a great time.
