Superb apartments, superb weather,...

Sep 2007, Mr K Nixon

Superb apartments, superb weather, and fantastic people.
The rooms are spacious and very clean, being cleaned three times a week, with bed linen changes once a week. Air conditioning is available, but is quite expensive at 80euros per unit for two weeks.
The pool is cleaned everyday and Ph checked, and is off course very clean. The owners Yanni and Karen are on site every day, and are very friendly.
Other reviews below say it all so I will leave it at that, except to say that I will return to the Artemis.

The Artemis is set in a beautiful setting, with the owners growing fresh vegetable and fruit which we all was encouraged to pick freely.
We all had a great time there the atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming, it the second time we visited the Artemis and it is still as good as the first time.
My father in law was taken to hospital and the owners gave us lifts to Corfu town hospital and back to visit him. Overall it was a fantastic holiday thank you.

Mar 2007, Mr L Cooke

I am surprised at the tone of some of the other reviews. We have stayed at Artemis for many years and wouldn’t stay anywhere else on the island. The owners (who also have names- Karen and Yianni Tryfona and family) are the loveliest people I have met in a long time.
Kostas and Suzanne are lovely people too, agreed. However, Artemis has never claimed to offer drinks and refreshments at the apartments, it is indeed SELF CATERING.
Having seen some other self catering apartments and the Primavera Hotel opposite (Nicos and Rula who own and run it are also lovely people, as are most Corfiots), Artemis is excellent and gives good clean accommodation and I changed from the Primavera to Artemis (Primavera is an hotel which offers in the brochure a poolside bar- Artemis does not so you shouldn’t really expect one) because I preferred Self Catering and Primavera had at the time become a little run down.
While on the subject of poolside, the pool and surround are perfectly adequate for the size of the property and I have never experienced a problem with insufficient room or equipment.
A 1/10 rating is totally unrealistic and unwarranted. I think some of the reviewers expect Bentley luxury for Ford prices and compare a hotel to self catering apartments-hardly a fair comparison.
I will return to Artemis as I have enjoyed the experience every time and count the Tryfona family as friends, which is how they treat me. Take no notice of the bad reviews, if you want a good value holiday in good quality self catering accommodation with courteous and friendly hosts then look no further than Artemis in Dassia.

We booked the Artemis as a last...

Sep 2006, Not Specified

We booked the Artemis as a last minute getaway after reading lots of good reviews about it. We would really love to know if there is another Artemis Apartments in Dassia, as it certainly DID NOT live up to what everyone had written about it!!
The room we had was very basic, which is as we had expected, it was cleanish, had a few basic amenities for cooking, and a couple of quite comfy beds, but the bathroom was a disaster! You literally had about 6" between the toilet and the wall which was great if you were drunk as you could fall asleep with your head on the wall, but not for normal everyday use. You had to squeeze yourself into the gap then sit down gingerly......... very unimpressed!! Also, we had no hot water for 4 out of the 7 days.
The pool was nice, but did not have enough space around it to seat more than 15 people, and certainly didn't have enough chairs or sunbeds (not that there was room for them anyway).
The apartments have no reception area at all, we only saw the owners once and that was for them to tell us we could not keep our room on longer than midday, even though we offered to pay extra as our flight was at 5 the next morning. Not having a bar at the hotel was also a pain, as if you wanted a drink, you had to get dressed and walk down the road to the supermarket for one. It should also be said that this is on a very busy main road, with constant traffic noise, even though we were at the rear of the block - so light sleepers should avoid!!
We managed to get a room at the hotel Primavera opposite for the last night, which was very cheap, very clean, very comfortable and the staff were very welcoming. They also have an inside and outside bar for residents use, and a large pool area with plenty of beds. We regret not having stayed at the Primavera for the entire holiday.
Even though we were very disappointed with the Artemis, there are some lovely bars and restaurants in Dassia. Valentinos, Alesandros and Mythos are great places to eat, and we spent every evening at the Parasol Bar, with our lovely host and hostess Kostas and Suzanne - the friendliest people you could imagine. If you go to Dassia, avoid the Artemis like the plague but make sure you stop off at The Parasol for one of Kostas fab cocktails, or a good old chinwag with Suzanne. If it wasn't for them, and the 2 other couples we met while we were out there, it would have been a complete nightmare, so thanks Kostas, Suzanne, Rod, Josie, Ben and Suzie.

Artemis Apartments are very good. Two small blocks in very pleasant gardens, good sized pool with plenty of sun beds and set back far enough from the road that traffic noise is not a problem, not that the road is that busy anyway. Karen and Yannis are there every day, are friendly and approachable and do their best to ensure you have a good holiday. The apartments are very spacious and furnished to a good basic standard - better than most Greek self catering blocks anyway. Also, if you have an anti social departure time and can't retain your room, don't worry - the courtesy room is large, comfortable and well appointed.
Dassia itself is pleasant with two large hotels at the north end (Artemis is at the very south of the town), one small beach at the south and a large main beach, sand and shingle. Sun beds are 3 euros a day. It is NOT loud - typical holiday makers are 35 year old and above couples although most are well into their fifties, equally split British and German.
Food and wine is fairly cheap and the best places to eat are Valentino's by the Artemis Apartments and Bamboo in the middle of town. Locals people are generally very friendly and speak English well, although simple courtesies such as hello, please and thank you are appreciated.
In short - good resort for a week touring or lounging but don't go if you're a party animal as there isn't a lot there (other than some beach bars at the far north of the town). Artemis Apartments are very good by Greek S/C standards, food across the resort is of good standard (Valentino and Bamboo the pick of the tavernas) and a good beach and friendly people.

Aug 2004, Mrs E Acton

We have just returned from a week in the Artemis Studios in Dassia and had a fantastic time - there were four of us and we had two twin bedded apartments. The apartments are clean, well maintained and were a perfect base for us to enjoy the island.
Karen and her husband Yannis own the apartments, they were very welcoming, and we enjoyed eating at their restaurant just a bit further down the road in Dassia.
The resort itself is quite quiet and once you’ve got used to the busy road outside the apartments its worth hiring a car and visiting other area’s - we visited practically every bay on the island and found the most stunning scenery in all of Greece!
I would recommend the apartments to stay in to anyone wanting a comfortable, centrally located resort with good amenities.

Artemis is a simply excellent accommodation in an unpretentious resort that is very friendly and in a brilliant position for exploring the beautiful island of Corfu. It is so conveniently placed, has very good facilities and is owned and run by the loveliest family you could wish to meet, (who also own and run the Dionyssos Taverna in Dassia).
I can’t praise Artemis, Dassia, Corfu or the Corfiots enough for giving us a wonderful holiday, (thanks also to Kosmar and Excel Airways for their part).

Artemis studios are...

May 2002, Mr C Mithe

Artemis studios
are excellent place to stay
(even have a TV) only 50yards to local supermarket 'Damon'
Dassia is a good family resort!! Long beach good water sports, local
boat trips in Dassia you are about 30/45min away from the more
lively resort of ipsos, where clubs have foam party's etc, but the
clubs don't open till about11.30/12

On the other side of Dassia, there is Gouvia + Gouvia Bay again is a
family resort but slightly different, so gives you a option!! Dassia
is a great place to stay and explore.
