Paris Le Stendhal Opera Hotel

This is a great find and another successful booking using the recommendations on tripadvisor. The hotel is part of the big Mercure chain but the hotel itself only has something like 20 or so rooms and is much much nicer than the usual Mercure offerings! The room was bigger than I was expecting and given the very central location I thought it was a really good size generally. This hotel has a lot going for it; the location first of all. It's right next to the Place Vendôme and the Ritz, within a few minutes' walk of the Opéra, Madeleine, Louvre, the shopping areas, several metro stations all around. I have stayed here 5 times, and have enjoyed every stay. Book well in advance on www.accorhotels.com to get the best possible rate. Skip the 17 EUR breakfast at the hotel, and instead go to le pain quotidien for half the price.

I booked for a couple nights while in Paris as it seemed to be a good price, especially for Place Vendome area. However, when I showed up with my confirmaiton from the hotel they had no record on their computer. They did agree it was certainly a valid confirmation from them, but they were full and were sorry. Luckily my fiancee's cleavage swayed the manager to find us a new hotel nearby that wasn't through the roof (as their immediate neighbors are the Ritz and the Bristol). I was worried about this hotel because there were few comments here and the pictures showed in site are terrible. Fortunatelly it is a very nice hotel. Confortable, good location and nice breakfast. The unique negative point is the restaurant's size: just 4 table with 2 chairs each. I had to wait 4 days (I stay there one week) a free table to have my breafast. So incovenient.

I booked a room with a queen bed at Mercure Stendahl at the Accor website for about US$180. This hotel is boutique style with about 20 roooms. The rooms are small, but similar to what you would get in New York City. Mercure Stendahl is centrally located and there are many attractions within walking distance (e.g. Arche de Triomphe, Jardin du Luxembourg etc). The staff were wonderful and very helpful. We did not eat their expensive breakfast, but opted for cheaper food at eateries such as Bert's closeby. The tabac shop next door also... more

Having many times been disappointed by the standard of Parisian hotels, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody looking for a good value, clean, smart and comfortable hotel, with an excellent location. Staff were also very friendly and helpful (far nicer than the staff in the Ritz around the corner!!).

The location is good, the room size is ok and the staff is nice. But they changed staff everyday (we stayed there for 4 nights), there is no kettle and therefore we have to go down to get the hot water everytime. The shower is ok, the bed is a little bit soft. As no breakfast is included in our stay, it is quite inconvenient to us. The internet connection is quite expensive too.

The hotel was in a great location in the middle of Paris on a quiet street. We were in walking distance to the Lourve, Orsay, Opera, Galeries Lafayette, etc. The Opera metro station was very close by as well. The room was fine for two people and had a nice size bathroom. We had a great time in Paris!

First trip to Paris and what a great place the Le Stendhal was....right in the heart of Paris, near the Opera house, metro stations, great restaurants and a Starbucks. Nice size rooms with lots of storage area for clothes...tv, safe, elevtor, tub/shower. Staff were great (especially Rachel) and very helpful. Within walking distance to just about everything, plaza Vendome is just around the corner. We loved our stay in Paris and can't wait to go back.
