not worth 170 euros a night
Stayed for 1 night on business & really don't think the rooms justify the price they are charging (EUR 170 per night). The lobby and reception are lovely, but the rooms are small and beginning to look very dated even though the hotel itself looks quite new. The bed was comfortable, although I would have preferred a proper duvet as opposed to the sheet and blanket thing they always seem to do in France. The bathroom was fine - clean - with basic toiletries, although the shower was one of the most counter-intuitive I have seen! Another... more
Am I the only one who likes this place?
My experience at Sofitel Porte de Sevres was quite the opposite of the majority of reviews. I also booked this hotel using Priceline... and after reading TripAdvisor I was really skeptical. After booking, I immediately noticed on the map that it was the last stop on the Balard line (no. 8). Aside from being in an isolated local, I have NO complaints. The staff was unbelieveable. When I arrived, my room was not ready, so they held my things at the concierge. After I returned from an afternoon of serious shopping, I was elated to learn... more

I stayed at the Sofitel for business. I reserved a surperior room and there was nothing superior about this room. I am glad I was only there for one evening. The staff was very friendly and helpful; however, my room was terrible. The furniture was very old, the wallpaper peeling, the carpet had several stains on it, the shower had mold throughout the walls and on the shower curtain. The mattress was very hard and my pillow was paper thin. In the hallway to my room, there were several towels outside another door. It looked like they were... more
maybe it's right for you, but it wasn't for us
If you’re not comfortable with the Paris subway this is not the place for you because your miles from anything remotely Parisian. If you’re claustrophobic, this is not the place for you. But...... If you negotiated a good price, want a predictable Sofitel experience and are not in Paris for the Parisian experience this might be the place for you. There is nothing wrong with the staff, general condition or food service in the Sofitel Porte de Sevres that a 30% increase in the room square footage wouldn’t cure. <br... more
Do not stay there
I stayed at the Sofitel Portes de Sevres for 1 night and I was very dissapointed. When I first came in, I was quite impressed but the reception hall as it is very elegant and nicely decorated. However when I went up to my room..what a disappointments. The room was very very small and badly decorated..Horrible pictures.etc..The bathroom was also small. The worse Ive seen in this hotel was the dinning room place for breakast. The carpet is so dirty, the furnitures look really cheap. I aslo had a bad experience at the swimmimg... more
Sofitel Sevres not worth it
Do not bid on priceline in the Invalides region. This was the worst priceline hotel experience I have ever had. Priceline should take this hotel off their list because the rooms are not a 4*. I love priceline and have always been pleasantly surprised, in fact we bid on hotels in London and Amsterdam and they were great! The lobby is very nice but deceiving because the rooms are awful. They are poorly decorated with old furniture, peeling walkpaper and paint. The bed has a shabby blanket, pillows poor, and a mattress hard as a rock. The... more
Not as far away as you think
As everyone else, we booked this hotel through priceline. This was my first trip to Paris and my husbands second. We got a great rate and we were very nervous about the hotel and location once we read some of the comments. However, once we got to the hotel we were pleasantly surprised. We actually were driving back from the Normandy area and realized the hotel is right off of the peripherique so we decided to drop off all of our bags, return to the car to the airport and then take the metro to some of the sights that were a little... more
Depends what you want from your hotel
Individuals look for different things from a hotel. If you want a busy hotel in the centre of things then don't stay here. If however you want a decent enough hotel in a quiet location with a sports park and aqua center attached, then the Sofitel could be for you. We also booked through Priceline which makes me wonder if anyone other than Priceline quests use this hotel. First impressions are favourable as the hotel is approached via a lawned garden. The reception and public areas are both spacious and gracious. We were... more
Excellent service/accomodations - booked thru PriceLine. YMMV
I stayed at the Sofitel Porte de Sevres for 6 nights (5/25 thru 5/31) and had an excellent experience. I paid $100/USD per night through Priceline. Having read the other reviews about the poor customer service and subpar rooms (on 11th floor) I was expecting the worst. My room, booked through Priceline was on the 16th floor and matched up closely to the pictures on the website. I don't doubt the other bad reviews. I stopped on the 11th floor and judging from the condition of the hallways they did look rundown. I utilized the conciege, and... more
Never again is right!!
We just returned from our trip and by far, this hotel was the worst we stayed in. We were on the 15th floor, our A/C did not work properly, the room was definitely not updated and the beds were soooo uncomfortable. The staff was also very unpleasant, they couldn't even complete a simple task like geting us a cab. Granted we got the room on priceline, I will probably not priceline in paris again in fear of getting this hotel..Definitely worth shelling out just a little more to be in a better hotel much closer to the action! Natalie
