Aug 2011, surprised

Having booked a last minute holiday at the Minimote a couple of years ago we read a lot of reviews before going and quite frankly wish we hadnt. We were worried about infestations and filthy conditions after reading the victor meldrew selection of reviews, but when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and tidy and we didnt see one insect in our room all week. The hot water boiler is an issue if you showered for too long and the hot plate was not really up to much but eating out is so cheap this wasnt an issue, the pool was excellent and never crowded, the people running the apartments were pleasant enough and it does feel exclusive due to the small number of apartments. If your not sure about this place then just count the number of positive reviews against the number of negative reviews. We are now looking to book the minimote again this year. Its 2 star and as such should be accepted as that then you wont be disappointed...

Never again in the Mini Mote. As both my husband and I have walking difficulties we requested a ground floor room as no apartmants seem to have lifts, when we arrived we had been allocated an upstairs room. The proprieter took our suitcases upstairs as we could not manage them. On complaining we were told a downstairs room would be available next day at 9.30 p.m. We only took out what we needed for the night and next morning and left the suitcases open. We left toiletries in the bathroom and hair and make up stuff on the dressing table, also some English change in the drawer. We left next morming and when we returned in the afternoon all of our belongings had been moved downstairs in our absence. We felt this to be very intrusive.
The balcony wasn't even the size of a dining table with two small plastic stools to sit out on. We couldn't get up once we sat on them, so might as well not have a balcony.
Out in the bar area past the pool it was always Turkish television belting out and often lots of th proprieters family. They used it as their lounge as they lived in a shed type place at the back. We stopped going there at all and only went back to the apartment to sleep, shower and change. Two mornings on the trot the second person showering got a cold one. On asking why my husband was told that he used too much water as he was too big so after that we had to split up when we had showers, one morning and the other evening.
My husband was told off twice for accidently leaving the outside light on and also told off for not leaving the key to the apartment in the pigeon hole.
We returned to the back entrance one night quite late and the gate had been locked, on asking the next day we were told that burglars were trying to steal empty bottles. When we told some locals from England living out there they just said what a load of rubbish.
We had to walk right round to the front to get in and knew full well that it was done deliberately.
Fawlty Towers would be heaven to that place, it was weird and eerie, felt a bt like Psycho.

I think the people who have rated this complex low have not been to the Minimote Apartments. They really are talking about somewhere else!!!!!!!!!!!!
We stayed and as the other people have said in their reviews it was lovely maybe the other two people are used to staying in places like Le Manga in Spain were footballers hang out. The couple work hard and its a shame other people dont appreciate it !!!!!!

After years of staying in high rise, noisy hotel/apartments, we decided to go for a small family run place & choose the minimote....it was fab! every day there are plenty of sun loungers, no matter what time you got up! everyone was friendly & we met loads of couples who have been going there for 15 plus years & meet up every year & stay here...& we can see why..will be returning ourselves too asap! the owners are lovely & work so hard, the lady here runs the bar with her husband, does the cleaning, the cooking & is up every hour under the sun slogging it out. The pool side snacks are quick & very tasty & if there is something you want for the evening she will buy it & cook it for you for when you want.the rooms are very clean & we were happy with our studio on the top floor- at the end of the day you are not on holiday to sit in your rooms! but they were spotless & cleaned regular with fresh bed linen & towels every couple of days. we didnt cook in ours as we do cooking back home 50 other weeks of the year! but the cooking facilities were ample anyway. we did have to pay for the air con, but didnt mind as we already knew we had to & going in june/july we would reccommend it! minimote is very central, v near the weekly market & close to all the restuarants & bars without being too noisy that you cant relax/sleep.we will be going back to Icmeler & will only want to stay here in the Minimote when we book!!

cannot agree more with Miss K Atkins the place was awful!!! we arrived at the mini mote which is just past the tansas for those of you who know Icmeler maybe about 7 or 8 in the morning to be greeted by ... no one! we had to pull our bags up two flights of stairs to get to our apartment which were basic but wern't actually that bad until we seen the spiders web which had to be there for a good while the broken shower which constantly had cold water, the dodgey plug in the bedroom and the two ringed cooker which took forever to heat up . Was only given two hand towels and WHEN the place was cleaned the beds were made and that was it, the floor had not been moped the whole two weeks we were there. Icmeler in july is really warm usually so air conditioning is something you need. Suprise Suprise it wasnt included and had to pay £25 i think per week. Had a run in with the girl who runs on the second day which was a nice suprise as we didnt know who she was , we hadn't been introduced to her or the others who run it complaining about a few things including keeping air con on (that we had paid for ) ... that was the most conversation we've ever had! pool was good although you were not allowed to bring your own food or drink to it had to buy theirs the place in general was filthy with ants and various bugs running around. We have been to icmeler for a few continous years so we are well aware that there will be bugs however I have never seen so many in the one place.
In my opinion Icmeler is one of the best if not the best place to go on hoilday, the turkish people are so friendly and will do anything for you . Shame the mini mote aren't like the rest of the community. If I had my first hoilday to Icmeler staying in the mini mote I don't think I would go back to Icmeler . The time that we stayed in the mini mote a family checked in and out in the same day with everyone at the pool saying they wont be returning. When we were leaving we had to pull our luggage down the stairs again alone, with no one coming to say goodbye again not like the rest of the places we have stayed in before.
The best question we were asked was on our last day by another man staying in the mini mote who asked "well what do you think of faulty towers" summed it up perfectly!
Only reason giving mini mote a 1/10 is because there is no 0 . WILL NOT BE BACK HERE !!

In July I stayed along with two friends in the mini mote apartments. It was our first holiday away on our own, and we were well looked after by the lovely couple that run the apartments. The environment is very friendly and welcoming, and we felt very safe.
There is a large pool with ample sun beds, we didn’t get to the pool most days until the afternoon, and we still found that there was plenty of space available! The rooms are basic and simple with a small balcony, but they were very clean, and the beds were made daily and the rubbish taken out every day.
An enjoyable stay for this type of holiday.

Ant and I just returned from a great 11 nights at Icmeler, the town is lovely and everyone is very friendly, we found out that Turkey is trying to crack down on the hassle you get from bars, restuarants and trip bookings. We found that we got alot of hassle from people being a couple but just said we would come back tomorrow and this worked. If people do keep hassling and they get caught they risk getting a fine and being closed for 3 days!
As for the Mini Mote appartments when we arrived we were taken to our room by Ismail he took my case for me and was very friendly, we were in a studio at the top. My first thought was how basic it was, although i must point out that we had no intentions of cooking, the studio does not have a balcony or terrace and the windows were tiny, you could only see out of them by standing on the bed which was really annoying. The other rooms had a balcony so i was pretty gutted.
The towels and bedding were changed every other day which was fine, but bins emptied daily, Ismails wife did the cooking and the food was very nice, i felt slightly overpriced but very good, she was also very quick and we never waited long for food.
The pool area was fantastic and personal rating for me is 10/10 we sometimes did not get to the pool until 11.30 and there were always ample sunbeds.
When we left Ismail took my case to the coach and literally waved us off, he did this with loads of other people too.
If i went back i would stay at the Mini Mote but would request a terrace or balcony and not be in the studio.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like more information laura.ottewell2006@yahoo.co.uk .
A couple of points to help you out, when you arrive in Turkey at your accommodation they may take your passport and keep for a couple of days, if you need it they will return it but may ask for it back. Also when returning if you purchase cigarettes you can only take 200 per person and they should have a reference on the pack. At Dalaman Airport when returning home you will be searched before fully entering the airport and they can ask to search your luggage so if you have ciggs and no code you face a fine - be aware!!
Also the food at Dalaman airport is really expensive, we had a mc'Donalds 2 meals and it cost about £22!!

We had our first trip to Turkey just my Husband and myself. We met many friendly people that have been going there for at least 7 years . It is a very friendly and homely place they cannot do enough for you if you ask for anything. Yes the studios are small with no balcony but you have air conditioning and for all you do in the rooms is sleep. Will visit again.

We stayed in the mini mote apartments...

We stayed in the mini mote apartments and if you are hoping to go self catering then think again...
This place has a great pool which is all i can say about the place and take note you can not drink your own drinks or food around the pool as you have to consume the pool side drinks and food. You cant cook any thing in these rooms too as all you have for cooking is an electric two burner that takes for ever to heat up,there is no cooker, toaster or any thing so dont go thinking you will cook your own food.
The rooms are dirty too and running alive with ants the staff who run this place have faces like slapped backed sides, unless you are in their little clan.
We had friends staying in the studio apartments and its like living in a sauna and they are very small too.
