Preeth Beach Resort Apartments

We arrived to Preeth from another hotel just down the street, and what a difference :o) The staff was brilliant and so helpfull, they even took time to greet my sick husband, and help him into the room (had very serious backpains). The room was very comfortable and large. The pool was very nice, and was visited every day by a eagle of some sorts, who drank from the pool. The restaurant was really nice and quite cheap. We would definitly stay at Preeth next time we come to Varkala

Moderately clean place but pretty cheesy. No Indian atmosphere whatsover-- a mid-range resort like any other. It would not be out of place in Florida. The full size plaster statues everywhere made me laugh. So if you like that sort of thing, this will be OK for you--and the pool is nice. As we have just returned from Varkala this review should be the most accurate. My wife, one year old son and I arrived after a lengthy taxi journey from Kovalam and found our first hotel to be completely unprepaired for our stay, so we decided not to stay there (more on that resort in my review of it). The Preeth Beach Resort and Varkala in general were a great way to end my brief, one week visit to Kerala. The pool was great especially after spending some time on the beach getting pummelled by the sun and waves. The pool was a nice break from all that fun craziness. Don't be fooled, this place is not on the beach - no hotels in Varkala are. It's set back from the cliff about 200 metres and away from all the Varkala 'life'. First impressions are of a very nicely laid out setup, pleasant gardens, a range of rooms and cottages, swimming pool, shady garden restaurant - but... It's probably quite good value if you can get a basic AC room but the cottages are a rip off. We paid 2875rps for a cottage (about 70USD) because that's all they had available. We started our holiday in India in Varkala and arrived very tired and found the Preeth perfect. Picked up at the train station, room as requested although we moved to pool view cottage which was much nicer. Nothing much to add to the other good reviews except to stress for us the importance of a pool. We are a couple in our early 60s and found the waves rough and scarey. The pool was relaxing, clean and shady. No clean beach towels although we didn't axctually ask!! so bring your own. Excellent service, well located away from the cliff... more

My husband and I stayed at the Preeth Beach Resort for the first part of our trip to kerala and it was so nice, we ended up staying there for the rest of our holiday! We had planned to visit at least 3 other hotels during our stay, but with the beautiful rooms and fantastic pool we decided not to leave. All of the staff were very helpful, especially Bala (ask for him when you check in) he advised us on most things we wanted to do and was always about for a friendly chat. I thought this was a bit shoddy on first night we stayed but the hotel manager did say this was his worst room and it was the only one left, he also said he would move us in 2 days time, this was great, the room wasnt to bad just old. The hotel itself was great, friendly staff good food and even better pool. When we moved we moved to a pool side room which was excellent, it was the most exspensive but it was the last few days of our holiday so well worth it.
