no way!
My friend and I recently spent 5 nights at the Hotel Malibran in Venice. I hope you are good at reading maps. It took us 45 minutes from the waterbus to find the hotel when in reality it is at the most a 3 minute walk to the waterbus stop from the hotel. It is hidden down a small alley (this is mostly what Venice is made of) and behind a church. The reception was excellent. The size of the room was ok, nothing extravagant. The room was filthy. The ceiling and walls were covered with dead bugs and cob webs. The floors, linens, and... more
Best Value in Venice
We stayed three nights at the Malibran in March, room 305. This room was huge, clean, and had comfortable beds. The bathroom was a reasonable size, but only had a shower, but there are rooms with bathtubs available. The breakfast and service at the front desk was excellent. Considering how pricey a visit to Venice can be, the Malibran with it's primo location and charm is a great value.
Great location
The best thing about Malibran is the proximity to the Rialto bridge and the the water busses. As a single traveller I spent 3 nights here and you get what you pay for. I got a single room for a midget (the tiniest WC and shower room I have ever used). I opened the window for fresh air and the mosquitos entered and fed off me during the night. What must Venice be like when warmer? Just tolerable for the short stay.
Great Location that we will return to
We had a great stay at the Malibran and unlike the some earlier reviews I would return again without hesitation. the whole place was extremely clean and tidy with good size rooms, well furnished and in a superb location. Anyone who has visited Venice with their eyes open would know that 2/3 minutes walk from Rialto Bridge is a fantastic place to be. I cannot understand anyone finding fault with the location. The staff were without exception friendly and helpful, what more can you ask. As for value we were delighted. We... more
Good value friendly hotel in a good location
Friendly hotel delivering good value Comfortable clean room (rooms vary from small to good size) Good continental breakfast Restaurant part of hotel server typical Italian food at a reasonable price (10% discount for guests) Located five minutes walk from Rialto bridge
DUMP
What a dump. dirty, mosquitos, rude, dirty, did i say bugs! sasve your money and go somewhere else. awful stay
Great Location
This was a pleasant small hotel in a splendid location: central, but quiet. The AC was a little tricky to figure out, but it did work (eventually). I was perfectly happy with my stay here -- probably wouldn't rush to come back, but I wouldn't mind staying here again either.
a little shabby, but nice
I stayed here for 4 nights in early May 2006. The first night I was in a double room ( # 207 ) which had 2 twin beds, new bath with shower, safe, mini frig and was approx 11' X 13'. This room had 2 windows which overlooked a couryard that had 2 restaurants and the noise went on well past midnight. The next 3 nights I stayed in room # 101 which had 2 small windows facing a wall. The room was dark and small with 2 twin beds and the bathroom was very small with no window. I should have taken the room they offered me that was over the... more
fantastic clean and good location
The pictures on this web site do not do this hotel justice. It was so much nicer than we were expecting. When we arrived we were given a friendly welcolme and given our key for room 606. The gentleman took us out of the hotel through a courtyard to a building opposite the hotel. This building had been fully refurbished to a high standard and the rooms were modern and clean and the beds were very comfortable although it was a bit warm. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to visit Venice as the location was good. The... more
Clean, convenient, great service & resturant
I am a wee bit late in putting this review on the site (we visited Feb. 26 - 28, then we were off to Florence), but I finally got to it. The Hotel Malibran is a gem tucked away just 5 min. away from the Rialto Bridge. The staff was very plesant, courteous, and very helpful. If you want something, just ask, and they will do whatever they can to fulfill your request. The front desk personnel was very friendly and all spoke English very well, and the wait staff in the adjoining restaurant did as well. When we arrived, we had endured a... more
