Springfield Hotel

We decided to take a last minute trip to Chester, and hit the internet the night before to find somewhere to stay. Chester was expensive apart from places with really bad reviews so we decided to look a few miles out and found this, about 15 minutes away. On arrival, we had our only blip - despite having booked on the hotel's own website, they hadn't received the booking. Stayed overnight at the Springfield - they were doing a "kylie night" - and it was a friend's birthday. The Hotel is very far out of Chester and a taxi costs £25 one way, which is quite excessive. We had a car, but parking in Chester can be excessive too, and finding a place - even after hours can be a nightmare. The hotel itself was nice enough - the rooms are small and there isn't much in the way of toiletries...shampoo in sachets and a soap. I Stayed at this hotel last week for one night through my employment, the food in the Restuarant, was fine, with a nice selection of starters, I went for the Prawn Cocktail, main course I was recommended the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection just how I like it Med-rare, although there was fresh sea bass on the menue as well,and a load of other options. Booked this through Active Hotels although it seemed to be the same rate on the hotel's website. Went with sister for weekend catch up. Cost £39 each for two nights inc breakfast so was a bit sceptical as had a swimming pool as well, but after checking reviews decided to give it a whirl. On arrival receptionist was very lovely. First hotel room didn't have a window in main room and curtains didn't close (so we couldn't even pretend) so we asked to be moved. This was no problem at all and next room was fine. had dinner in hotel.... more
