Nice Hotel

It was with some trepedation, given the mixed reviews and the fact that I like a quiet room and dislike mould and dirt that I booked a room here. However, the location and price seemed ideal , so despite misgivings and strictly specifiying that the booking was dependent on the supply of a quiet room, I booked. The room supplied was at the back of the hotel, freshly painted, spacious, spotless and silent, with a roomy balcony overlooking gardens. The staff were friendly and helpful and we considered the hotel very good value.

Very convenient for train riders. The hotel is within 100 yards of the train station, and unlike many areas close to the station, this area is quite nice. It also is located on the main tourist street and is very close to restaurants and shopping. We asked for a room away from the street as suggested by Rick Steves(and received one) which was very clean and comfortable. We stayed at Hotel Nice for a few days, it was a great location for Sorrento centre and also the train station. It wasn't the nicest hotel in the world, the bathroom was not especially clean and our room was small, however it was comfortable enough to allow us to explore the surrounding areas.

Location was great and the staff extremely friendly. However, I nicknamed this place "hotel not very nice!" There was a big bus tour of older people there when we where there so maybe we got a bad room because we were young backpackers. Our room smelt, there was mould growing on the walls, and I can't even begin to describe the mould in the bathroom, it was that bad that I didn't want to touch the shower screen of bump the tiles in the shower. After a tiring journey by train from Rome to naples and then onto Sorrento we were very happy to see this hotel. It is a minute walk from the train station so its very convenient. Moreover it is right in the heart of the main happening area of Sorrento where all the action is so it is a wonderful location. The rooms are nice and we have 2 bedrooms. This hotel is good for those using the transportation system as it is right off the the Circumvesuiviana line, main bus stop to the Amalfi Coast and local transportation main stop. It is very convienient and 5 minutes walk to Piazza Tasso, the main shopping and social hub. The hotel is Ok but the cleaning is not that great. They only clean the surface and not that deep. We arrived at the hotel from the train station in Sorrento. It was a little hard to find the hotel as the entry way is small. We were were welcomed warmly upon arrival. Our room was a two room suite with air conditioning! The a/c was a god send after not having it for a week of 95' weather! There was also a jetted tub and a wonderful view of the city. They allowed us to leave our bags on the departure so we could still shop and sightsee w/o our luggage. All in all it was a positive experience and we would stay there again.

We stayed here for 4 nights that thought it was quite nice. It's quite cheap - we paid 80 euro for a double room - not rock bottom prices but cheap by Sorrento standards. The location couldn't be better - very close to the train station for trains to Naples and Pompei and buses to the Amalfi Coast. After checking out early from another hotel that was absolutely disappointing (see my related review of Nastro Azzuro/Occhio Marino), we chose the Sorrento Nice Hotel because it was listed in our Top 10 book of the Naples/Amalfi Coast area, and it was cheap (booked the same morning over the phone, price was 70 euros including tax and breakfast for a room with two twin beds). Hotel Nice was okay, but not brilliant. Its in quite a convenient location - right next to the train station -and the area is completely safe at night. The room was clean and a good size but the beds were not particularly comfortable and creaked any time one moved. The TV had BBC World and CNN. The breakfast was poor and frankly not worth getting up for but the thing that we found most annoying was that the hotel was very noisy at all times and it was consequently hard to get a good nights sleep.
