Abad Palmshore Beach Hotel

We booked our honeymoon through Manos and were assured that the Abad Palmshore hotel was a very nice one, suitable for a honeymoon, so we booked to stay there. When we arrived at the Abad Palmshore we were very disappointed to find that the place did not live up to the expectations we had, based on the description in the Mano brochure, especially given its high price relative to most of the other Kovalam resorts they provide rooms in. The staff were indifferent to say the least. The entire atmosphere of the place was very institutional, like a hospital. We were initially put into a small room with no view (room 221) - _not_ what we wanted for our honeymoon! The room also had: * A musty, damp and dirty bathroom. * No wardrobe or storage space. * Unsafe step in the bathroom. * Bathroom badly designed so that using the shower rendered the toilet wet and slippery, and the toilet paper wet and unusable. A second room (room 215) had a somewhat better view but was otherwise no better. A third room (room 219) was bigger, but smelt of stale smoke from the previous occupants. It was also across the corridor from various offices, the phones of which rang at all hours (there are also offices outside the equivalent rooms on the floor above). The shower drain cover was also loose. However, there was nothing better to be had in the hotel. All of this spoiled the entire Kovalam part of our honeymoon. We have travelled extensively abroad and never been in a hotel as bad as the Abad Palmshore. In the Manos brochure it also claims that the Abad Palmshore has been recently refurbished. Having seen the current state of the place, the mind boggles at the state it must have been in before that! In the end we were forced to waste almost 2 days of our 2 week honeymoon finding alternative accomodation, and paying Manos for the privilege of doing so. Don't stay there!
