My husband and I stayed at this hotel with our (just) 5-year old daughter for 4 nights over the new year period. We had a great stay and have been recommending this hotel to our friends as it is very well located with good facilities and friendly, helpful staff.
Upon arrival, check-in was very quick and the staff were most helpful, providing us with all the information we needed.
We had booked a family room at a cost of €209 per night, and were provided with a large 4-person room situated in the main building. There were two single beds pushed together (giving the appearance of a king size bed), two separate singles plus a small sitting area containing a 2-seater sofa, two chairs and a table.
There was also a desk which was home to the DVD player and LCD TV. Whilst the room was more than adequate in terms of size and comfort it was somewhat run-down - the carpet needed replacing, being both worn-out and stained, and the furniture was a bit worst for wear too. The bathroom was dark brown and looked like it hadn't been updated for 30 years! We were in room 54, and when the family room next door was unoccupied we took a peek to compare.
This is a similar family room, but for 5 people. The main area housed the 'adults' bed and a sitting area plus there was another small room off of it containing 3 single beds. This room (No.55) looked fabulous - it had been refurbished and had wood flooring, new furniture and a modern bathroom. Nevertheless, we were pleased with our room - it was quiet, comfortable and well located above the childrens playroom, close to the breakfast room, and a few steps away from the spa.
There is a small playroom for children, most suitable, I would say for children aged 6 and under. There is a box of toys and books, a little keyboard, a blackboard and chalk and a little table and chairs (courtesy of Ikea I'm sure). There is also a TV and video with a selection of videos, including many in English. We only used it once as there was so much else to do, but it got the thumbs-up from our daughter - if only because it was somewhere different to explore.
The spa was lovely. There is a 'clothing optional' area which contains a steam room, a sauna, an infrared room, a relaxation ('silence') room, and wet-room style showers. Outside of this area there are some relaxation loungers and a small (cool) pool. It is quite deep with no shallow area, but my husband and daughter enjoyed a good half hour or so in there nearly every day (while I enjoyed the spa area). Towels are provided.
The breakfast is excellent - there is the usual continental selection of cold meats, cheeses, breads, preserves, fruit, yoghurt and pastries plus cereals, boiled and scrambled eggs and sausages.
Afternoon tea/coffee and cakes are also provided and goes some way to making up for the lack of tea/coffee-making facilities in the room.
Whilst our daughter has been out of a pushchair for a couple of years now, we had requested a pushchair just for New Year's Eve night. The hotel dutifully and efficiently complied, and ready and waiting for us was a sturdy pushchair complete with a quilted footmuff and a raincover to keep the snow off. We had also requested robes in our room and this was also something that had been ready and waiting for us.
Check out was as quick and easy as check-in. The hotel ordered us a taxi and (as they had promised the night before) it was there within 5 minutes.
To sum up, whilst our room wasn't perfect we would definitely return to this hotel again and highly recommend it to anyone else.
