The bedroom small, dated and dirty, with blood? on the curtains. we got bitten alive in bed. No fridge(mini bar) as advertised, when we asked for one we were informed that if he could find one, it would cost us an extra $5 per day. The bathroom was even worse than the bedroom it was filthy. One shabby towel each which we had to use on the beach and around the pool because every time we aked for a beach towel they had run out. we asked to move rooms but were told that they were full. They just didn't seem interested in accommodating us.The sunbeds should have a health and safety warning on them as they were broken and in good need of a clean. The three days that we were there the tableclothes hadn't been changed and the food was of poor quality.
After two days then the rep arrived we asked to be moved or if not we wanted aflight home. We moved to Browns Beach which is very friendly, very clean and the food is very good.
- Advice: Negombo is lovely but stay away from Goldi Sands
- Activities: Tea factory and the elephant Orphanage

The goldi sands hotel is one of the most friendly places we have ever stayed at. The staff can only be described as excellent as nothing was to much trouble for them. The food was very nice with a different theme for the evening meal. We read a lot of reviews before we went and the overall impression we got was that the hotels decor needs a little attention but while we were there they were improving the decor on a daily basis.
It is a three star hotel with 4 star food and 5 star service and i would have no hessitation going back there.
