The hotel itself was clean, that's about all the nice stuff i can say. We went there on honeymoon for 1 week, and found that the 5 star rating turned out to be no more than a low 3*. The staff were unhelpful and only wanted to talk Turkish. If you want a cushion for your... more

nice complex but wouldnt go back!
me and my boyfriend stayed at club tarhan for the first two weeks in july, all inclusive! well we could both definatly say not a five star, it looks 5* when your in the complex, its definatly the nicest looking hotel ive stayed in however the food was awful it gave me a bad stomach for the entire two weeks, it was the same food every night apart from friday night which is turkish night, i reccomend this as its great you get kebabs and these pancake things which are gorgeous but apart from fridays the food is terrible. We met quite a few other couples and families while we were there and even they all said the food had made them ill. also getting a drink you enjoy is a nightmare, your only allowed 2 drinks per person and you get the smallest cups ever, its ok if your drinking vodka and coke or some kind of spirits but for all our lads they had a bad time drinking larger out of these cups. I do recommed you to try a vodka cocktail at the pool bar though, that what i was on the whole time, beware of how much vodka they put in though as they arnt shy! Also as drinks stop being served at 11, you either have to go to the disco bar or reception bar which you have to pay for, our friend that we met out there payed 18lira for JD and coke which is about 9pound. also if you want to take your own drink to your room you have to take it into the hotel before 11 at night other wise the security guard takes you to reception and you get it took off you until the next day! I do reccomend if you want to buy anything from the hotel shop DONT DO IT! go to the little shop just up the street outside the hotel as it is alot cheeper!! if you want decent size cups though you should go to the bar/cafe at the end of the complex near the tennis courts as they generally give you bigger cups there then sneak them out and take them to the pool, thats what we did! dont be put off though it was a great holiday but if i went back i would take enough money to eat out every night. Have fun, hope you have better look than we did!
do not go to this hotel! enter at your own risk!
we (family of 4) arrived early hours of the morning and all seemed great! The room basic for a 5* the fews looked good! We went for breakfast that morning and thats when the nightmare began, that afternoon we all has stomach ache by evening we were all throwing up!!! this lasted for 4 days, we tryed to contact the rep but he did not show! 4 times he said he would come and he didnt! finally day 4 we got out of our rooms and took the kids by the pool, where we discovered that lots of families had had food posioning and children had had ear infections due to the pool not being cleaned out! day 5 they were not wrong my daughter complained of earache! when we went to the local pharmacy they said it was quite common at this hotel! still we could not contact our rep! but we did find another rep who said that there had been many complaints! we ate out for the last night of our holiday. This is a hotel with a beautiful setting but everywhere we went people were ill! its worrying that the reps are aware of it but do nothing. Also be aware that although it is all inclusive if you miss breakfast you cant eat anything till 12 because nothing is open to eat! icecream for kids is only served between 5-6pm. The entertainment only caters for french! and consists of a childrens mini disco at a dark aphethertre where there is nowhere close to get a drink starting at 9.30pm when the children are tired!!
Great Hotel for Families
We've just arrived back home from a week at the Tarhan Hotel nr Didim. Some of the reviews had started me wondering what the heck I was in for! However, on arrival at around 5.30pm in 43 degrees of heat I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel lobby is typically turkish and has a lovely "air" about it. The check in was quick, I had asked for a triple room which we got, (also with a full sized bed placed the opposite end of the room in it's own little bay). The room was clean and air conditioning worked well - we needed it!! We went down to our first dinner (buffet style all inclusive). Food was good and you have to remember that the buffet thing happens in most all inclusive hotels. There was plenty of variety although not for the real younger kids who weren't so adventurous. My son is 13 and loved it. All in all, the hotel was clean, the pools great - cleaned throughout the day. Theres a water slide into one pool and entertainment/games during the day at the other pool for the energetic!. There's a small watersports centre on the beach which is a few steps down. Pedal boats are free but the banana boat is around 10 euros. Also jet ski around £20 for 20 mins and we also hires the large speed boat with a captain for £60 for 1/2 hr which was our holiday treat. I certainly cannot complain about any of the hotel, the staff and waiters a polite and most helpful. The also love it when you make a little effort to speak some Turkish. Currency wise, they are using the Euro and the Lira and the guy at the boats takes english money. Change most of your money when you get there as you'll get a better rate, Give it a try, its a great place. I will certainly go back.
excellent hotel just requires a few tweeks to make it perfect
This Hotel is as described in the brochure a beautiful setting lovely buildings. the cleanliness of the hotel and rooms were excellent. the only draw backs for us as an English family was the food. It was usually geared for the continentals French etc and was on most days not hot enough. Having said that the waiters were very helpfull and obliging. does not cater well for young English children no chips no chicken nouggets no fish fingers all the usual stuff our kids are used to. the entertainment was not very proffesional and was done by the hard working on site entertainment staff. our biggest problem was the banding system for all inclusive. there should be a different colour for teenagers under 18 years as the waiters were giving out alcholic drinks to 13 year old girls and boys this included strong drinks like vodka and gin. having said that we had a good experience and as this is the first season for all inclusive it will get better as it goes on,
Best holiday ever!!!
Before going to Tarhan i read the reviews and worried a bit, but i thought oh well a holiday is what you make of it. As soon as i arrived i was extremely pleased. The staff were polite and helpful. The hotel and beach were gorgeous. I went with 2 other girls and we all throughly enjoyed ourselves. The Turkish people are so friendly, they couldnt do enough to make our stay special. Admittedly their were only a few english guests but all the staff speak english. I would recommend having some photos taken profesionally while you are there. Its very cheap and the photographer is very talented. This hotel is ideal for famillies. couples and singles. We were all very sad to leave and cant wait to go back next year. Any questions then email me. We also went into altinkum alot so can tell you alot about there aswell. You'll love it!
Warm drinks, cold tasteless food- Don't Bother
On arrival to this hotel we were given a standard room which would have been sufficient had there not been three adults and one child in our party! This meant that one adult had to sleep in a bunkbed. Whilst all the beds were rock hard and uncomfortable, the bunks were by far the worst- we weren't even given a sheet to place on top of us in the twin beds, just a dirty overthrow. Each day we had to call for more towels as we were only given enough for 2 or 3 of us which just got ridiculous after 3 days of waiting and waiting. The main problem was the food and drink. The restaurant was boiling hot being outside, the food just in the open with flies all over the place. The food was cold and the speciality dish (cooked by a chef who was beaming with pride!) was fried hamburgers one night, onion rings the next....We are not fussy when it comes to food even the little one will eat adult meals but not one dish had taste. We ended up eating out 4 nights out of 7, along with alot of other guests we spoke to. Drinks at night were warm and in tiny plastic cups, one gulp of wine, one gush of wind and there goes your drink! Oh and only 2 drinks at a time so then you have to join the back of the queue if there happens to be 3 who fancy a drink at the same time. I found some staff ok, most couldn't speak one word of english and most were rude, unhelpful and ignorant. The weather was nice but you will have to get up nice and early for a lounger, each day ours were cracked, very dangerous. Dont bother asking for another towel to place on the sharp cracked edges, you might as well be asking for a diamond ring! Snacks are few and far between, ice cream only served between 5-6, join the huge queue along with everyone else- I thought on an all- inclusive ice cream would be avavilable all day! Evening entertainment was a joke- mini disco started after 9pm, it was in a dark dingy spot below the hotel with no bar anywhere near. We decided to give it a miss. I know it can be inexpensive to go here but I have stayed in far better 3 star hotels so my advice to anyone contemplating this is don't bother. Use this website and pick a highly rated hotel and enjoy your precious holiday time.
Nice but not for the ENGLISH
Very nice and clean hotel. situated in the middle of no-mans land but you always felt safe. Most of the staff work very hard but still very pleasant and helpfull, We went all inclusive, but what was included. Food was ok, a little repetative but we always found something we liked. Waiters cant do enough for you. Drinks, well what can I say?????? Drinks from the pool bar only served until 11.00pm, the alchoho content was literally a splash and dash, unless you were FRENCH, GERMAN OR TURKISH. We tried to ask for a neat Vodka and a coke (you were only allowed 2 drinks per person) no word of a lie you were given a quarter of our normal optic measure, it was a joke. We even tried tipping the barman but it didnt make a difference. The Lobby bar was not quite as bad and your drink was served in a glass. Entertainment very poor for adults, the amfi theatre doesnt even have a bar. You must experience a trip on a dolmus (they run from the hotel front every few minutes) one of our holiday hi-lites hahah Would I go back???? Yes if the daughter and her mate had their way
Would recommend Club Tarhan to everyone
Just back from two weeks staying at Club Tarhan and had a brilliant time!! We find it strange that people have complained about this hotel - we were treated very well and saw none of the bad things that others have complained of. We found all of the staff polite, friendly and helpful and the food really good...it didn't vary much but there was still plenty of choice and we particularly liked the Turkish night. Evening entertainment was probably better for big groups who don't mind joining in but we were just happy to have a drink and relax at the pool bar. Would recommend going on one of the day trips...Dalyan boat trip being our favourite. The place was kept well and was very tidy. Room also cleaned daily and was very spacious. This is a nice place if all you want to do is lie back and relax for a few weeks with maybe the odd trip thrown in. Didim/Altinkum not very far away...about 10-20minutes by bus and the bus was easy to use and frequent! Beware though as Turkey is not as cheap as you may have been told...the local areas may be cheap but the tourist areas are quite expensive and we paid up to 10YTL for one chocolate bar and a can of coke (which is about £4)! Had a fantastic time and would definately go back!!
If you want to go to a second class prison, this is the best.
The title really does say it all. When you arrive at the hotel, you are forced to wear a band so that every one knows what type of prisoner you are (half board etc) When we went to our room I expected to see the calming view of the beach but instead I was welcomed by the view of the in the carpark. It seems you are watched like big brother in this place; there are security guards everywhere giving you the look of death as you pass by. And the service... it seems the waiters just came from a funeral! Also, when you ask then a simple question, they go off and talk to their collegeus, and it seems they are insulting you. If their is something you don't like, you can complain to the hotel manager (I as I did) and after giving a neverending list of excuses he says he will sort it out tommorow... tomorrow never comes. After 4 days, I couldn't take anymore of the prison centre and went to stay somewhere else. Over all I had a great time!
stay away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me and my sister stayed here 4 one week all inclusive - and had the most awful holiday Imaginable. This is not a place for young girls we were harrassed by men non stop - to the point were they followed us and stood outside r room at night. We found this an extremley scarey experience and complained to hotel management - they did not even take it seriously. Bar staff and resturant staff also harassed us. Mostly staff were rude and treated us like second class citizens. the food was disgusting - it was the same food everyday, and the Restaurant was like a school canteen. As we did not eat at the hotel we starved all day long and spent a fortune at night to get taxis to restaurants and pay 4 food. we spent a total of £900 in one wk between us. They rip tourists off and harass you to buy stuff. There is no entertainment and night life is dull. There is too many problems to mention - and i dont want 2 waste any more of my time on club Tarhan. U'd be mad 2 go here - my advise is to stay away!!!
