We booked our vacation at another Hotel that we were incredibly disappointed & scared to stay in for two weeks. They were able to offer us a minimal upgrade to the Aquamarina Hotel.

It was the best two weeks of vacation spent there. The staff became family, they were so incredibly nice! The rooms & common areas (lobby etc) were immaculately cleaned everyday, the food was amazing, and the security guards kept you safe and unbothered on the beach. The swim up bar, daily pool games & trips to the Bars were a blast.

I started off with a bit of culture shock & by the end wanted to relocate to Cancun.

I have and will continue to highly recommend this Hotel.

The rooms are clean and spacious with either one king size bed or 2 double beds. We had a beautiful view of the pool and the beach from our balcony.



The food was varied every night with a different theme (Mexican, Italian, Grill etc); no matter how fussy you are you will find something nice to eat.



The food during the day was also great, a snack bar outdoors serving fast food (burgers, chips, nachos, and hotdogs) and then a restaurant inside which served a variety of food plenty of salad, fruit, soup then your main courses.



There was always a choice of beef, pork, chicken, and fish and of course dessert!



The entertainment both during the day and at night was first class. We had all different types of sports ranging from beach football/volleyball to water basketball or crazy golf.



The only complaint from my boyfriend was there was no pool table, typical man! The staff put on a different show every night for the 2 weeks we were there always involving their guests.



The entertainment staff were full of energy especially Nemo, the nights out they arranged were well worth going to especially Coco Bongos, amazing place. Now to the bar staff, well what can I say Luis is the best bar man ever.



No matter how busy the bar was you always had a fresh drink before you finished the one you had and the banter was non stop.



The trips you can do in Cancun are brilliant; you must do the Royal Swim with the dolphins at Dolphin Discovery.



You will never experience anything like this in your life. Xcaret is tremendous so much to see, such a beautiful place and then to the Pirates, entertained before you even get on the boat, the meal is great, the drink is flowing and girls Captain Jack Sparrow is a real looker for the real Captain Jack Sparrow!



Cancun is a beautiful place with so much to do but I can honestly say I don't think it would have been as good if we stayed at a different hotel. The hotel staff from waiters, maid service, entertainment staff and the bar staff made this holiday.



It was that good we are booking up again for next year, same time and without a doubt the same hotel.

The Aquamarina Beach was pretty much every everything we could have asked for.



There was 5 of us over in Cancun for Spring Break 2006, which was amazing!



The Hotel was clean, spacious and the staff were friendly. Food was only 5/10 but to be honest, we weren't there for the cuisine!



The All inclusive bar was excellent, just one bit of advise, drop the barmen a tip when you order your first drink or they just look straight past you when you return for the second! This is a trait of al the barmen in Cancun, even the clubs where you pay the $35 cover charge! A little cheeky!



Location is good, right on the beach! Where you can take part in the free non motorized water sports. We went on one of the excursions too, £10 snorkelling trip which included free Corona all the way out to the reef, which is 2 hours away!



Do the maths... I don't think they were bothered we had lost all our swimming abilities by this point! Oh well, we survived.



Overall, a great holiday, returning in March '07 for round two.

We Arrived In sunny Mexico and got the coach to our hotel. The hotel was beautiful we had sea view and there was even an upstairs in our apartment. My parents had the bottom floor whilst myself and my two brothers had upstairs. We literally walked out and we were nearly standing in the pool.



There was these stairs you went up where there was a Jacuzzi and ping pong table for the kids. There was a mini golf course and the beach was literally 2 seconds away. All inclusive was good you had 3 fantastic meals a day with a massive range to choose from. All throughout the day there was cheeseburgers and crisps plus ice-cream for snacks. There were seats in the swimming pool to sit on at the bar so you could sit down and have a drink in the pool.



There was a posh restaurant opposite the pool which you had to book for dinner or you could eat in the other restaurant. Entertainment was brilliant every night there was something different and the people were so friendly. I would definitely go on this holiday again. Its the best holiday I have ever been on and I have recommended it to people.

Have just returned from the Mexico holiday resort of Aquamarina Beach Hotel Cancun.



My overall review of this hotel is:- for the price we paid (not full brochure price) satisfactory.



My main comments are:- Positives



1 The hotel and grounds are kept spotless rooms cleaned and bedding and towels changed daily.

2 The room cleaning staff work tirelessly in exhaustive heat.

3 Free beach towels available everyday.

4 Excellent quiet air conditioning.



Neutral:-



1 Some of the waiters in dining areas could be pleasant one day and indifferent another day also what was quite amusing the first few days was their efficiency of clearing your table when you had gone to the buffet bar to come back to your half glass of juice gone and all your cutlery gone hence you had to go get some more and even food if you had gone to get something else! this became quite annoying after a week!



2. The bar in the lobby area is just that, there are not enough seats for people to have a drink in a relaxing area, in fact most people had to sit in the actual lobby area near the reception desk watching people checking in and out, not ideal. but the bar staff were friendly.



3 Breakfast good choice (you can fill up for the day on this) Lunch so so, buffet or poolside food bar burgers/hot dogs pizza & salads. the choice of food is quite repetitive so be prepared to eat out for a change we went on this holiday to do exactly that, we ate out 6 times and all meals were excellent.



Negatives:-



1. Pool/Pool bar area. this was tool small a pool for the number of guests and was dominated during the day by pool games, volleyball, basketball and water filled balloon throwing. these activities attracted only a certain age group so along with other guests some with young babies we gave up trying to use the pool and retreated to the beach area.



2. Entertainment, this started too early and finished too early sometimes 8.30 to 9.30 and sometimes 9.00 to 10.00 the main goal of every night was the entertainment staff going round the dining room/ lobby/bar area from 10pm to 11pm getting people to go to the chosen nightclub of the evening at 35-40$ each (having read some other guests reviews on returning home the staff get a 5$ commission for every 35-40$!) We did go to the Coco Bongo nightclub on our own if you go to Cancun this is the nightclub to visit there is an awesome show and is suitable for all ages.



On a final reflection of this holiday we visited the places we wanted to see, swim with the dolphins, coral reef snorkelling etc and had a great time. I would recommend Cancun, Mexico as a place to visit. I never visit the same place twice so for this reason I will not be going to Mexico again there is too much of the world still to see, and also this was my first experience of a fully inclusive holiday I have tried it, but this will not be my choice in the future.

The hotel was very clean, the staff were really friendly, but the food was the worst I have ever come across on a holiday. It was very limited and always cold. When we had a word with our rep he told us that the English are too fussy.



I explained that we have a two year old daughter and that the food is not suitable, he advised us to "use the microwave at the end of the food counter" the way he spoke down to me was disgraceful. So I will never travel with Direct Holidays again.
