Great location, great value
At 50EUR per night, you can't go wrong with this clean, friendly hotel in central Lisbon. We had travelled from Porto where we stayed in a prestine five star hotel...But there was nothing personal, and the staff were quite short and rude. Getting to this hotel was a breath of fresh air. As soon as we arrived we were able to help ourselves to a much needed welcome drink and we were given a map and told where we should visit, eat, drink and how it was best to get there. We found that we were in a great location for both the centre of Lisbon,... more
super hotel
Excellent value, staff first class and friendly, clean and more than satisfactory breakfasts.Stayed for four nights ,both hotel and Lisbon deserve more.
Great Hotel - Quiet area
This is one of the best budget hotels I have ever stayed at. When arriving ignore the general look of the area, that's Lisbon... easy to walk to all the best sights, lot's of restaurants within 5-10 minutes walk of the hotel. The hotel is very clean, absolutely no complaints, the breakfast, big and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. I would stay there again and would recommend to any of my family and friends
Botanico, Lisbon- highly recommended
We had an excellent experience with both HostelWorld (used for booking) and the hotel Botanico in Lisbon. The hotel is centrally located. It does require some walking from the closest subway station (10-20 minutes- depending if you go up or down the hill). The staff is VERY helpful; special mention goes to Fernando Ferreira who called restaurants, taxis for us, treated us with a great welcome drink and insisted on carring our luggages to the room, etc. An excellent breakfast was included in the rate. We spent 3 nights upon arrival... more
Botanico is a Great Place to Stay!
This hotel is centrally located, near the Avenida metro stop, and within walking distance of downtown Lisbon. Botanico was completely renovated recently, so that our large room and bathroom were quite new. The $104./night rate for two also included a very ample breakfast buffet. The hotel staff are outstanding and make a real difference in your experience of the city: nice, informative, willing to help in any way they can with directions, tips on shopping etc. The terrain in Lisbon is uneven and the hotel is located on a hill, which... more
Great hotel
Was very impressed with this hotel. Great location, rooms, bathroom, breakfast. Definitely recommend! Had a nice lcd tv with many english channels. Only peeve was that tv was up high by the ceiling (and no tilting) which made if difficult to see from the bed..but you can see how hard I have to dig to find some constructive criticism, all else was unequivocally super.
Excellent
Just back from a three night stay in Liabon with friends. This hotel is ideally situated for the Barrio Alto area.It is about 10 mins walk to the Barrio via the nearest road but there are a set of steep steps right next to the hotel which will get you there in less time. To give you an idea of distance the hotel is approx 10 mins walk from Cervejaria Trindade which I recommend.Turn left at the top of the steps and you are at Pavilhão Chinês which has to be seen. The rooms in the hotel are clean and the only one drawback I could... more
happy stay
This hotel is in a handy location, a quick walk down the hill to the main streets, with cafes and transport. Hotel staff were helpful and gave me a very good room with an excellent view. Room was spacious enough and a very flash bathroom. The internet in the lobby is a bit pricey at 80 Euro cents for 5 minutes, but ok for a quick check of emails. Breakfast was fine - all the Portuguese tarts you can eat! There are many interesting areas to explore on foot from this hotel and I would happily return here.
Fantastic value
This is a gem of a hotel, conveniently located near the lively Barrio Alto district and the Astoria underground station. Not the most pleasant surroundings though so less recommended for a romantic weekend, more for the discerning sightseer. Rooms were comfortable and clean (spotless bathroom with excellent shower) and judging from past reviews have clearly beniftted from a recent revamp. Reception desk could not have been more helpful; escorting us to our room, asking us if everything satisfactory, giving us city maps and not one but two... more
Great deal!!
We stayed at this property after a last-minute change of schedule which brought us to Portugal. I was very pleasantly surprised at everything we got for the money - We only paid about $65 for our stay. We got to Lisbon pretty early.. around 10am. Upon checking in, they didn't have our reservation yet (we just made it at the train station online, so I guess it just took a little bit to process) - so we were invited to have breakfast downstairs while they kept our luggage and got together our reservation and room. By the time we were finished... more
