No major problems
My husband and I stayed in the Stirling Highland Hotel while visiting our son at University. The rooms are comfortable, but slightly dated and the bath certainly was in need of an upgrade. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable enough. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, in particular the receptionist. 10 out of 10 there. We ate in the bar on the second evening, but would not rate it all. The hamburger was very overcooked, was less tasty than a McDonalds and no ketchup was available for the french fries.... more
Disappointing for a 4 star hotel
My partner took me to this hotel as a treat for my birthday. The hotel was clean and tidy and the room was comfortable. We had a lovely dinner on the Saturday night but the staff could have been more attentive. We were well into the main course before we managed to attract the attention of the waiter who we had originally asked for the wine list 20 minutes earlier. There was also a mix up with the bill when the waitress brought us the bill for the whole meal when we were staying half board, and again when they tried to charge us for... more
Nice hotel
Good location, just a short walk up hill to the Old Town Jail, which is definitely worth a visit, and then a bit further up is Stirling Castle. Room was clean and comfortable. Our niece was with us and they put a folding bed in our room for her. Bathroom was also clean and well equipped with a good shower (over the bath), although it was situated a little low on the wall for my husband who's 6' 2". Only an observation, not a complaint. We used the pool, which was a little small but they have a fast lane for swimmers who want to do... more
Great Easter Weekend
Nearly didn't book hotel due to the bad reviews on Trip Advisor. The hotel was great! We were welcomed by a friendly Receptionist who presented my twin girls with Easter Eggs and an activity pack to keep them entertained during our stay. We then checked out our family room which consisted of a standard double bedroom with a door off to a a small room with bunkbeds and a television for the kids (the girls loved it and so did we, peace and quiet - priceless!). Room was clean, nicely decorated and much to my husbands delight the television... more
Great Place to Stay
My husband and I have stayed at this hotel twice and to be very honest, I don't know where all the bad reviews come from. The rooms are large, very nice and the beds are very comfy. They have everything you need in them. The maids visit every day to clean your room, make the bed and provide clean towels. Staff are always pleasant and helpful. The food is fantastic and the gym and spa area are great. The hotel is situated in the perfect spot. It is 5 minutes from the castle and 5 minutes from the shops and bars. Both times we... more
pleasantly surprised
We made the mistake of booking before we read the reviews and boy are we glad we did! The reviews on here are all negative, but we had a great room, had excellent service and the food was very good. it's in a really good situation and has plenty of parking compared with most city centre hotels. We were glad we went there and would go back.
started off ok
Started off ok then just got worse.Hotel room was clean and tidy except for the top cover on the bed it was covered in stains. Groups of louts hanging about outside the hotel drinking buckfast and fighting. Some of the staff need a personality transplant very rude. Food wasn't great either for a four star hotel .If your thinking about going to this hotel think again.
Nice hotel
The hotel is in an old school, so the building is laid out around the parking lot which probably used to be a courtyard. We tried booking spa treatments but they were fully booked, so if you want to have treatments book well in advance. The pool is nice, nice temperature but isn't ideal for swimming as the depth gradually decreases to a lower depth at the other end. So, you either only swim halfway down the pool, or scrape your feet on the bottom. The jacuzzi wasn't great, warm, not hot and on a timer so it is off half the... more
Avoid the restaurant
Restaurant is grossly overpriced for very ordinary fare. Staff pleasant but untrained.
