Travelodge Stirling Hotel

I was initially partially worried about finding the travelodge, but it's signposted "services" so was really easy to find. Checking in was very easy, accomodation was nice and cheap. Standard double bed, what looked like a new tv fitted, and bathroom had a new shower head. We stayed for 2 nights. There was a kettle and everything was as described. We had a family room at the Stirling Travel lodge and it was perfectly fine. The reception staff were friendly, the room was a good size, bed comfy and shower excellent. We got a taxi back from the town centre and it cost £10 which was fine between 3. The hotel is next to the MOTO service stop and there is a tourist information shop next to it. There is plenty of parking. For an inexpensive hotel to stay overnight in the Stirling area its a good choice.

I've stayed at many Travelodges and this was my only really negative experience. The room number 26 had mould and brown spots all over the bathroom ceiling, When informed reception they said it is to be refurbished in next couple of weeks. Their was an unpleasant smell in the room which i assumed was damp but after reading other reviews I now suspect it was formerly a smoking bedroom and then smell was impregnated into the soft furnishings.

Although perhaps an older Travelodge and perhaps a bit tired around the edges nonetheless provided exactly what was expected. Location was on a service area but there was no problem re noise or the like. Room had all basic facilities and was clean and tidy and staff polite and friendly. I've stayed in plusher Travelodges but this was fine.

This has got to be one of the oldest Travelodges still out there. It is worn-out and fraying at the edges. If you don't mind that, and it's all about location and convenience, great. But if you're here for a holiday in itself you will be extremely disappointed. However, it is a fairly well-placed base if you want access to both Edinburgh and Glasgow; although not on public transport unless you get a taxi to the town centre, about 5-10 minutes away, which is worth seeing too.
