Fishers - Good location BUT
Arrived at Fishers Hotel in the evening after travelling down through the Cairngorms for one nights stay. Nice location in the centre of Pitlochry. The girl on reception was friendly enough and booked dinner in the hotel for us. Going up to our room - 214 - in the lift, we were immediately struck by the threadbare carpets in the hotel and chipped paintwork almost everywhere. We opened the door to the room which was roomy enough with lovely views to the garden and hills beyond. However, it was the shabbiest room we have ever stayed in.... more
great stay
Excellent stay room facing gardens on ground floor. Room clean and ample as much hot water as needed . Beds very comfortable and room very quiet. Staff very friendly and pleasent. Breakfast excellent and plentifull. Loved pitlochery try fish shop at top of street lovely food tastes as good as it smells. Try mckays for a drink lots of locals there very friendly place will defintatly go back. Room and breakfast only £69.00, very good price for excellent service excellent food and excellent location.
Bit fishy at the fishers......
Booked on half board basis for 2 nights - internet blurb stated all rooms with showers, welcome pack etc. On arrival the place had an ovewhelming smell of cooked lamb, looked shabby but staff ok. Directed to room 212 (mind carpets on the way, though, they are loose and rumpled). large room, good size, but again, shabby. NO shower - just a small bath with jaccuzzi that DIDNT work. The bathroom floor tiles had no grout and the basin was cracked. good sized bed, tho, which was clean and comfy. Dinner was an experience. The coach parties... more
Most horrifiic hotel on this planet
We booked in on August 9 2007, and we were asked to pay before we checked in, we were allocated Room 314, this was the most disgusting room we have ever stayed in. The wallpaper was hanging off the walls, the carpet had a threadbare hole with underlay showing, it was a hovel. we complained to reception and they apologised. Every other place was booked that night so there was no chance of changing. the full breakfast was ample, however, it tasted so awful we couldn`t eat it. the hotel at the back is filthy and I would love to check out the... more
Discusting hotel
This hotel is one of the worst we have ever stayed at . As soon as we arrived there was a problem the receptoin area was stinking as if something had been spilt and not cleaned up for weeks . The room was really old fashioned and the bathroom wasn't even clean . There was a gap that big under the door I could put my mobile back in the room without even opening the door . I know it was a last minute deal and don't expect to get the best room in the house , but I expect it to be clean . Made the best of it and decided to go down for dinner ,... more
Fawlty towers has nothing on this.
Just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. Here is my diary of events. Day 1. Check in ok, room ok and on the ground floor facing gardens. Bathroom was in poor condition. Went for drink before evening meal, everything ok so far. 10 guests in dining room and 4 staff. Ordered meal and 2 glasses of water. 10 minutes before water and soup arrives, the soup container was 4 or 5 yards from our table but everything was done in slow motion. Main meal arrives some time later. Meal was ok. Went to bed about 10.30pm as... more
Enjoyable Holiday Experience
Enjoyable stay in a nice hotel with excellent meal service (both evening and breakfast), with freshly made food and plenty for everyone. The staff were excellent and very friendly and had time to stop and chat with you. The Housekeeper's were always friendly and I stopped once or twice to exchange pleasantries. The single room had a comfy bed, and clean towels with the window overlooking the high-street in the village and fantastic views of the hills. The drinks were rather expensive, but then you are on your holidays and have to treat... more
Had a great weekend break here
Spent a weekend break here. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Found it to be excellent value for money. Food was excellent, room clean, fluffy towels, nice clean bedding, decent shower, everything as you'd expect. Live entertainment provided in adjoining lounge. No complaints with this hotel. They are obviously busy refurbishing the hotel - the corridors to the bedrooms still to be done but all this takes time and money. Just as described by easy breaks - will definitely go back.
Treated like second rate customers not good
Well what can I say. Rooms. Well they were't great marks on carpet, bathroom tatty. Food. First night our roll was that hard you could bounce it off the wall. The staff replaced it but it was the same. Food was only average. The worst was to come when the coaches came in the next night. They had four staff looking after them, the rest of us waited 15 mins for our plates to be cleared. We were treated like 2nd class citizens. One old couple were told to walk round the other way cos they weren't with a coach party. This meant them... more
dump
We stopped here on our way to a wedding alongwith my mother and parents-in-law who are elderly. We staff were very pleasant and helpfull but our rooms were well below standard. Ours had black mould on the wall behind our bed, a very stained carpet, windows that rattled all night and furniture and bedding that had seen better days. My parents-in laws room had a slopping floor and the carpet on their floor of the building was held together with sticky tape and was so wrinkled it was an accident waiting to happen. My mothers room was also in... more
