absolutely loved my 2 night stay at the hotel. our double room was really nice and clean. staff were excellent and very helpful. all food consumed was of excellent standard, especially enjoyed the breakfast. only downside to our stay was we were in one of the rooms not adjoined to the actual hotel. very minor thing and we really enjoyed our stay anyway

  • Advice: the breakfast was amazing

Terrible Hotel!

Oct 2009, Domessa

Went to the hotel for a relaxing anniversary weekend. When we got there on the Friday afternoon they told us the spa treatments we had booked in for were not available. They had no record of it despite the fact we booked six weeks in advance.
Friday evenings dinner was not great at all - Overcooked and a rushed three course meal.
On the Saturday morning at 2.30am the fire alarm went off then once more about an hour later. Utterly exhausted we slept through breakfast. When we finally got up I repeatedly tried to find out what had caused the problem. Every time I asked the staff just shrugged their shoulders and said, "I don't know".
No announcements were made, no reassurances were given that the situation was under control until I finally managed to speak with the manager about 12 hours later.
Feeling incredibly anxious the entire day, coupled with our sense of being made to feel unimportant, we went back to our room on the Saturday evening after a better dinner, settled into bed and the alarm went off yet again. Completely stressed out at this point we decided to cut our losses, check out there and then and find a better hotel, which we did. This was at 10pm in the evening.
Lodged an official complaint with Crerar hotels and wasn't at all satisfied with the response I was given. We were offered a discounted rate and a free spa treatment if we wanted to come back. Given the distance travelled and having absolutely no confidence in the hotel or the staff I didn't feel that was acceptable compensation for a ruined weekend.
In response to the complaint I was told that the situation had been, "handled correctly". That about sums up their attitude towards customers if you ask me.
I replied to the offer made telling them that I was not satisfied. That was two weeks ago and I'm still awaiting a response. Indifference is the word that springs to mind.
A totally spoiled anniversary weekend. I've never reviewed a hotel in my life before but felt so strongly about the way we were treated that I had to say something here.
The girl in the spa was lovely though. Shame about everything else.
In short, avoid!

Badly manged hotel

We and another couple booked through Hotel Connexions. It was a birthday celebration linked to a fishing trip. My husband called on the day of arrival to ensure that the salmon he caught could be stored in a feezer. Once receptionist checked with chef this was ok. We arrived all rather shattered to be told to take a seat for a moment. Manager came to tell us that there had been a double booking and we were to be allocated 2 seperate hotels 1 which ended up outside Pitlochry. What was to be an enjoyable birthday ended up with us out of pocket due to the taxi fares and the fact that we only had one car and it wasnt the couple staying in Pitlochry. Badly managed hotel.

I will keep this short and to the...

I will keep this short and to the point as other sites have more info on this Hotel.
Polish waiting/pool staff are very pleasant and hard working, always with a smile on their faces. Scottish waiters need to spit their chewing gum out before going to work. Nothing worse when a waiter is talking to you with gum in his mouth.
Food very good although if walking off the street for a meal the prices are high. I for one would not pay that sort of money. Glad we had a two night break deal which is much cheaper.
Bedrooms, clean, but I can appreciate the age of the Hotel as our room was a bit on the small side, had everything you could want for though. Bathroom spotless.
Pool okay, changing rooms need updated. No working door locker locks when I was there.
Corridors need gutted, I would be embarrassed to think people from abroad think this is the best we can offer. Having been to America, Canada, and Spain and then look at what Scotland is offering (not only this Hotel, I have been to others in a not so good state) it's a disgrace.
In general the hotel is in desperate need of upgrading, photo's can look good but in reality not so good.
If I was the manager of this hotel I would be telling the owners to spend money on it and lots of ££££££s. If not I would be looking at other options as I just could not run a hotel in this state.
Would I go back? No.
Would I recommend this hotel? No.
Only good thing was the food I just hope the Chef does not leave or this hotel is in trouble.
