Hotel Hotetur Sunbeach

I loved this hotel, it was AWESOME! The food was amazing, we made friends with the staff lol and everyone there was so friendly. The beach was amazing, the pool was AMAZING and they had different shows and various activities so you would never be bored. If u ever go to Veradero, stay the the sunbeach, u will not be dissapointed!

We have just returned from a two week holiday at the Hoetur Sunbeach Varadero. We arrived at 5pm after a exausting 11 hour flight from the UK. We approached the reception staff with a smile and our paper work, only to be greated with a glum face and very little english spoken or understood. We firstly were taken to a room that already had someone's things in it and then was taken to one with single beds and no balcony, of course we asked for neither of these requirement. After three days we were finally moved, to a pleasent room with a balcony and double bed. During the first week the food was good, we enjoyed trying the local dishes and no too days were the same (apart from breakfast) The second week some dishes were the same as the first week, but the quality went down hill. Beef burgers were not cooked in the middle and my partner and I both had bad stomachs for days. The evening entertainment was ok, but a bit limiting, with only dancing and a magic show on offer. The staff at the hotel were unhappy, with exception to the cleaners who were very good at there job and always friendly. Everyday the lift did not work during some part of the day, so if you are on the 8th floor that can be very annoying, as it was for us. The hotel was occupied mainly with German and Canadian tourists, with hardly any English. We tried not to stay in the hotel much only for food and drink. We enjoyed the lovely white beaches and clear sea and took a couple of excursions. One to Havana and one on a Catermaran, which we highly enjoyed. The weather was hot in the late 20's with only three days of evening rain. the breeze on the beach keeps you from getting too warm, but you can always cool off in the sea. Overall we were a little disapointed with the hotel, as we felt the staff and the food let it down, but luckly Cuba lived up to all our exspectations and more.

Who would have thought that we would have gone back to Cuba in the same year and stayed at the same hotel! Guess what we stayed at the Sunbeach again and the food and service had improved and was really enjoyable. Upon our arrival, to our surprise we were greeted by staff that actually remembered us. It is December 2004 and we were there in January 2004. Even the cooks remembered us. It was nice to know that they pay attention to their guests. In fact, because we were return guests, the manager sent a bottle of (you guessed it) Rum to our room as a token of their appreciation. Overall, the stay was great, this time only a week. Yes, we will return. Great staff and keep up the good work.

This hotel should be pulled down. The room was small with terrible decor and a tiny seating area. Although the package was all inclusive we had to pay extra for the hotel safe. The bathroom was clean but there was no hot water. The electrics in the room gave the baggage attendant a nasty shock when we first arrived but the elderly man on the desk would not believe me and it took 3 hours to get moved to the equally horrid room next door. The food was mostly inedible, the wine warm and their idea of all inclusive rum and coke was half a disposable cup of rum and a tiny bit of tepid coke. The swimming pool is old and there is hardly anywhere to lie round the pool because the area is so small. The games room is badly equipped with table tennis bats that are sellotaped all over. It looks to be the worse hotel in Varadero - we left after 2 nights and went to another hotel where we didn't have to look at the desperately sad faces of our fellow sufferers. It was such a shame because Cuba is a wonderful country with wonderful people. The other two hotels were fantastic.

Me and my friend went Feb13th-Feb20th. Our vaction was very good, the rooms were amazing the were always very clean and they were very big, the people at the hotel were amazing and then animation team always had a different show every night and after that they would always have a cab ready to take you to the club that night which is great if your planning on going down there to party. The hotel was in a good distance from all of the clubs we went to which was good, the cab was only about $2 at the most. The only thing that we didn't like much was the food, but what can you expect and plus were kind of picky. But they did have a pizzeria which was spectactular. The beach was beautiful and the pool was very nice as well, but who wants to go in a pool when you have a beach. It was in great distance of flea markets and other hotels and restaurants as well. Definitly worth the money, i would definitly go back!!

My Boyfriend and I just are 20 and 21 years old & we just got back from the Hotetur Sunbeach Hotel in Varadero Cuba. We had a GREAT time! When you book at a 3 star hotel...you can not expect 5 star facilities. It was however at least a 3 star....but closer to a 3.5 or a 4. We had AMAZING weather which was a huge plus as well. The accomodations were very nice...we had a pretty room which had a sitting area in it and a very nice bathroom...and the beds were very comfy. No complaints with the rooms. The beach and the ocean were unbelievable! They were litterally breath-taking! The beach was almost as white as snow and the water was a spectacular turquoise/aqua colour. We spent most of our time here! The beach staff were very good and kept those active vacationers busy. We took part in beach volleyball, soccer, and bocci ball. There were also catamarans that you could take out whenever you wanted for free....as well as kayaks. The pool was nice...but since we spent so much time at the beautiful beach...we didn't really swim or hang out by the pool much. In terms of food and drink...we were satisfied. And for all you girls who like fruity, mixed drinks....you won't find those there. They basically serve most rum and cokes, rum punch, and beer. You should probably like rum or beer if you come! The food was pretty good...but not excellent. A few nights we were a little unsure of the contents of the food...but we enjoyed everything we ate. The pizzeria is a great lunch spot and dinner also...they serve pizza and pasta...which is very tasty. The food was defintely not as bad as some people make it out to be. We rented mopeds one day through the hotel...which was very fun! One of the highlights of the trip forsure! We toured the city of Varadero which was a very cute place...and not as poverty struck as we had been expecting...average living. It cost us $28 dollars in Cuban Convertible Pesos which are equivalent to the American dollar, and we toured around for 3 hours which was a good deal. All in all we had a FABULOUS TRIP! We got an excellent deal and we were very pleased and happy with everything! I would recommend the Sunbeach hotel to anyone! ADIOS!

Like life, holidays are never perfect. No matter what you pay, there will always be some disappointments. Having a great time on any holiday is all in your frame of mind. The Sunbeach Hotel was clean, safe and the staff were very friendly. The hotel had a few problems. We heard dogs bark all night but eventually got used to it (which was no reflection on the hotel at all) and ran out of hot water for showers. Overall it was a good holdiay because we made the best of it. The Sunbeach hotel is situated close enough to shops and outdoor markets. Horseback riding on the beach is also relatively close. The beach is fantastic. Make sure to bring cosmetics, soaps, shampoos and extra clothes for the locals. They appreciate this. Don't bother bringing loonies or toonies, they will not exchange them. When we went, the Canadian dollar was worth .77 per Cuban Peso.

Loved Cuba and the Cubans. We'll most likely go back. The Hotetur Sun Beach Hotel had a few problems. Rooms weren't at all as shown in the brochure. The hotel is old and run down. The Cubans working at the hotel were excellent but hotel management has seious problems. No toilet seat available even after several talks at front desk. No hot water for showers. The food was cheap and not of resort status. Lots of boiled potatoes and liver. There answer to complaints is to put your name onto a list. It's obvious that the hotel is taking our money and not re-investing in the hotel or occupants.

Don't get turn off by all the negative reviews. We (3 couples) were skeptical to see only 7 reviews for this Hotel but all of us were pleasantly surprised at the quality of this 3 star Hotel. The location is great: it's only 3 mins walk to the beach just across the street and it's in downtown Varadero where all the restaurants are as well as the Flea Markets. ROOM: Very clean with full bathroom. 110v outlets both in bathroom and in bedroom.No need to bring adapter or converter. Bring your hair dryer. A/C works great! FOOD: We arrive Sunday and was a bit disappointed at lunch and supper for just that day since it was the cook's day off? Monday to Sat., food was very good. There was chicken, fish, pork, beef, etc. Not a lot of varieties, but all were very tasty! Drinks are limited (no pina colada or any other popular mixed drinks) but their red wine and Crystal beer are very good.Expresso is good too, but no Capucino. BEACH: Beautiful white sand and turquoise water. Overall, I would rate this Hotel 3+ star for the room, food and location. Nightly entertainment wasn't great but we were there for the sun, beach and relaxation. No mosquitoes either. The only downside was our return flight with Skyservice..We were delayed more than 12 hours at the airport. Instead of keeping the guests at the Hotel, they sent us to the airport to wait for 13 hours! Stay away from Skyservice. Book with another charter flight. We will definitely go back to Sunbeach next Winter for the price and quality!

This was our first trip to Cuba, we stayed at the Sunbeach in November 2003, it was the hotel that came with our package, we did not have a choice of hotels. I will keep this short, the food was horrible and tasteless, the flies were all over the dessert table. The staff in the restaurant could have cared less. We ended up eating out alot!!!!, which we should not have to do in an all inclusive unless we want to. The only place you could get a cup of coffee after breakfast was in the lobby coffee bar. Now if you had the pleasure of having Juan on that day you can be sure to wait at least 15 -20 minutes for coffee while he ignored you to chat with other people, this happened everyday he was working. The washrooms on the main floor were closed for two days due to flooding so you always had to run to your room if you had the urge to go. The entertainment was really good, best part of the trip, but ladies watch your husbands as one of the lovely ladies kept approaching mine when I walked away asking for money. We did meet some great people though and had a good time with them. The hotel was clean and it was a good budget hotel I guess. Would I go back to cuba again, most definitely, would I go back to Sunbeach, NEVER!!!!!
