Occidental Miramar La Habana

We stayed at this hotel as part of an overnight trip to Havana. If this is what the Occidental group call a 4-5* hotel they need to visit the Superclubs Breezes Hotel in Jibacoa to learn some lessons. As you previous writer states there were no coffee making facilities, no ironing board, damaged pottery in the room and the staff were very unfriendly. We stayed at the Occidental Miramar for one night as part of an excursion to Havana from our AI resort. It was so bad it was funny - except for the broken glass on the floor, which fortunately my boyfriend noticed before I stood on it. It was right at the entrance of the room. The bathroom was clean and nice and we had plenty of towels. We stayed here for one night at the end of a wonderful trip round Cuba. We chose it due to it being on the right side of town for the airport and would immediately say this review is based purely on the hotel as it would not be a good choice if you are visiting Havana itself its way to far from the centre. The hotel is very grand and luxurious in comparison to many other Cuban hotels although overall the service was not great. the hotel was nice, the food acceptable and the service good. our only problem was the distance from havana and the frequency of the shuttle. if the information i received was correct the last shuttle left havana at 6:30pm. we would have liked to have stayed to see the city at nite but not want to incur the cost of a taxi.. about 10 pesos or approx. 14 dollars cdn.. i would strongly suggest if you are going to cuba and want to stay in havana for a few days get a hotel in the down town area closer to the Capitolio, you will not regret... more

We arrived at this hotel at 4pm after a long hot journey. After a long wait at reception we were informed , with absolutely no word of an apology by the sullen faced receptionist that we couldn't check in to our room for another 2 hours as it wasn't ready. We were literally ordered to go and sit and wait in reception. I returned to the desk to ask more about times and was told with a blank expression that we would be bought a welcome cocktail white we waited. We went to Occidental Miramar for our honeymoon and very pleased with the hotel room and restaurants. The staff was amazing, very helpful and fun. Espicially the switchboard lady who helped me a lot when i was trying to call my parents in Turkey. The entertainment was also very nice. Would love to go there again especially to have their lovely breakfast.

The night we spent in this hotel was awful! The toilets were stinking so bad you could smell sewage in the main lobby for our whole stay. Ladies..There were cigarette ends in the sinks and urine on the seats, the smell was overpowering. Upstairs was no better! Filthy corridors covered in thick dust and bits of rubbish, The carpets on our floor were threadbear in places. almost everything was dirty. Room o.k. but no toilet roll and none downstairs in the stinky toilets either!! Food at both dinner and breakfast was the worst ive ever eaten... more

We spent one week in this hotel . Even if I consider it not to be a very classy or practical hotel [because of the distance to la Havana]everything was very acceptable .Food, service,cleaness The problem was the agency.we live in Montreal,Canada and we went to Club-7 on St Denis st because the publicity was that if we buy the tiickets 7 days before the departure the cost was more affordable[almost 30-40$ less] To become a member we paid $37 per pers. The Miramar was a real mixed bag. Too many of the front desk staff need lessons in customer service: as in, there is such a thing. Front desk is front line, and that's one place no business can afford poor service. The bar staff was usually very good- fast, efficient, friendly- although the flip side was the tendency simply not to look in your direction if they were busy and didn't want extra work.
