Booked through Phone and Fly they have never let us down and we have been booking holidays through them for 5/6 years) You fly to Skiathos then ferry to Alonissos (1.5 hours) although there was a 4 hour wait for the ferry in Skiathos Town. I don't know if this is usual but our flight was delayed by an hour and we may have caught previous ferry had the plane been on time.
The Nereides is the best accommodation of its type that we have stayed at in Greece. The property is well maintained and kept very clean by it's proud owners. It is situated at the back of Patitiri town commanding lovely views of the surrounding countryside. There is a steep walk to the town which may prove difficult if you are less than fully fit, we usually walked down and got a taxi back (6 euros)
Our spacious and comfortable room was cleaned on a daily basis and get this Greece lovers, the bathroom had both a shower curtain and shower hook which is probably as rare as rocking horse poo in Greece!!!!!!!!!
The pool area was well looked after and clean, and has both shaded and sunny spots to suit all types of sun worshippers, though later in the day there is only a small area that is totally in the sun.
The dining area was relatively small but cosy however the range of food provided is excellent, obviously fresh and cooked in a traditional fashion. We only had two meals there but they were thoroughly enjoyable and we were able to chose from a good variety of fish, meat and vegetables.
The hotel is an excellent base from which to explore this beautiful island and the best recommendation that we could give is that if we had the opportunity to revisit we would jump at the chance.
Although we only stayed for a week we would like to have made it longer however our second week was going to be spent on Skopelos which I have also reviewed and should you wish to experience an interesting contrast of Greek island life we would recommend that you try!!!!!!!!
All in all a lovely stay, the hotel is a credit to it's owners who are friendly and helpful, this is a quiet island and not for those who are looking for a lively time. If you are like peace, tranquillity and beautiful scenery however, why have you not already been?
