De Paris Hotel

This hotel looks stunning from the outside but believe me looks can be deceiving! I don' know about the other rooms, but we had a duplex which was so dull and claustrophobic we used to dread going back to it at night. We had an unpleasant view of pipes and a wall and everyday our room was cleaned at five o clock pm. The whole hotel was dark and smelt of damp. I don't pretend to be the ultimate expert on lodging, but I have stayed at several properties throughout Europe, and the Hotel de Paris in Cannes was a pleasant surprise. I can't speak to the quality of all the rooms in the hotel, but the superior room was very comfortable (consisting of 2 levels, with the bedroom being upstairs in the "loft"). My husband and I stayed at this hotel while driving through the Riviera and Provence in March 2001. It is a lovely hotel in an old, beautifully restored building, just a few blocks walk to the main shopping street and the beach area. The staff could not have been nicer. We arrived without a reservation and asked for a standard room. We were shown to a beautiful room facing a garden, but the young lady guiding us noticed immediately that the bed was two twins pushed together.
