Never Again!!

Jan 2012, Jay23

Stayed at this hotel back in September 2012 with my husband and two children. We booked for 2 nights as we had sold our house and could not get into our new one for two nights, so decided to treat ourselves by staying here. I arrived after 6 hours of packing our house up and loading boxes into trucks, I had to park at the far end of the car park and drag my suitcase up to the hotel while trying to stop my very excited 2 year old from running off. While i struggleed to drag the suitcase and my child to the hotel i noticed a member of staff watching me struggle, the member of staff turned out to be the manager! I did not complain straight away as after a very stressful day i just wanted a bath.
After booking in at recepion i was given my key card and directed to the enormous staircase that I had to drag the case ( and 2 year old ) to our room as i was offered no assistance! The room we had was scruffy and in need of decoration, the bathroom was horrible and we were above the pool area. The smell of chlorine in the room was really bad, outside the windows were all the giant pipes and fans which were very noisy. By the evening we could not breath it was that hot, and this was not due to the weather as it was due to the heat from the pool and sauna that we were directly above we could not open the windows as that let in the chlorine which by now was stinging our eyes! After complaining about the heat we were brought a bucket of ice! The next morning we asked to be moved as i could not stand another night with no sleep! I had to wait in the room for 1hr 45mins before they found a room for us. The room was on anothe floor so yet again i carted all of our things down to the other room and yet again was offered no assistance! When arriving at the room i was confused to dicover that there were only 3 beds and there was four of us in our party. They were not aware that there was four of us, concerning in the event of a fire!! I then had to cart my belongings back to the very hot chlorine room and wait for reception to contact me when they had sorted out another room! I waited over an hour and then decided to go to reception and collect the key, i was given a key and told that the room had not been cleaned but i could put my belongings in there and they would get it sorted by tea time! I went up to the room to put my case in there and finally get out of there for the day as my son was really fed up by this point. I put the card key in the door and walked into the room to find a lady half naked in the middle of getting dressed!!!!! I was furious left my stuff at reception and took my son to the local park so i could cool off a bit. I went back 2 hours later and headed straight to the room to catch up on some sleep. The room was horrible very very dirty. Hairs in the bath the carpet was extremely dirty and the bathroom not much better! The windows did not open and the bed sheets were stained, i was convinced that the room had not been cleaned from the previous guests! I did not even bother going down to complain as i felt that whatever i said the staff did not give a damn, i got my cases and my kids and left we did not spend our second night there we went down the road to the grosvenor pulford which was about £18 more expensive but very very stunning and would recommend the Grosvenor Pulford to all who want a clean well decorated room with high end fixtures and fittings and exceptional staff.

The perfect hotel to stay at for a relaxing break. The room we stayed in (Exec room and particularly the Bridal Suite) was lovely. The rooms are very clean and look newly decorated. The style of the rooms is luxurious including the bridal suite with the jacuzzi and the huge 4 poster bed which was absolute pure luxury and I would recommend it to anyone thinking of staying there on their wedding night. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The staff are really friendly, helpful and professional and couldnt be more obliging. The leisure facilities are good, including the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and the well equipped gymasium. It also has a beauty salon offering lots of treatments and tanning room. The hotel is located in the countryside yet close enough to Chester and other places to visit. The grounds are lovely too with statues and the old oak tree and I imagine that in the summer it would be ideal to use the outdoor areas for weddings, and parties. The hotel is a good place to stay if you are newly weds, couples, or anyone celebrating an event or just for pure relaxation. We came away feeling totally relaxed and rejuvenated. I cannot recommend this hotel and the staff highly enough and would give an absolute 10/10 and cannot fault it in any way. A big Thank You to all the staff at the hotel for a lovely 3 night break!

We stayed here after a wedding. The room was big enough and was nicely decorated.
The bathroom was very spacious and the room was overlooking the patio area which was nice. We had breakfast and it was very nice.
The hotel was in a lovely setting with a nice drive up to it and it is set in lovely grounds.
Nice quiet hotel that is close enough to Chester and the A483 for travelling.

What a fantastic place - I stayed here for two nights and found the hotel to be in a very peaceful and lovely surroundings - ideal for a relaxing stay!
The room was superb - very clean, spacious and had a comfortable bed! All the hotel staff I met were very friendly and helpful.
The food was excellent, but the drinks were quite expensive!
I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again! A problem free stay.
