Marshall Meadows Country House Hotel

We stayed here as the first night of our honeymoon, on our way up to Scotland. As it was a special occasion, we'd booked and paid extra for a 4-poster room. The bed was handsome, and the view lovely, but they were the best bits. The room was tired and in need of a bit of tlc. The linen felt cheap and the bathroom was so-so, with cheap toiletries. Stayed in this hotel recently. Room was very comfortable with good size bathroom and all mod cons. The gardens were very pretty and t he staff more than helpful. After a peaceful night we enjoyed a hearty english breakfast loads of choice inc fresh fruit & good coffee. An ideal base to explore this beautiful coast.

We stayed here for a weekend in April as part of a group of about 20 people. That weekend there was another, slightly smaller group staying too. The staff were ok. The room was acceptable, but not great, and I for one thoroughly dislike poly-cotton sheets. Our two dinners were served in a very large, rather bleak room. My husband and I thoroghly enjoyed our two night stay in February. The room was brilliant with a fantastic view of river and farm. Staff were great, very helpful. Waiters , first class . Breakfast was excellent . Good food , good staff , good location. \Bargain for £65 a night for a room for two people. Don't understand why people moan. The prices are cheap but the hotel is top notch. Stay there if you have culture and class and anjoy the good things in life!!!

We had celebrated our engagement at the hotel in June and were rather worried after reading the latest review after new management had taken over. But absolutely no problems at all. The hotel was as lovely as ever. Our room was very clean and well serviced and provision made for Jack the dog with his own food bowls and place mat !! Tired, not enough staff, considerable waits in the reastaurant(35 minutes between courses). For what was billed as a luxury hotel the place was a considerable disappointment. In discussion with the management I was advised that the place had just been taken over. They neglected to advise this when we booked and also neglected to advise that the restaurant no longer haad it's AA rossete. Frankly we would have been better of in a tent. The only mitigating fact was the friendlyness of the staff. Regretably this did not help with the bill !!

Really enjoyed our stay. Reception staff very accomodating when we wanted to change our room to one at the back of the hotel. Room spacious and clean. Food excellent and restaurant staff very helpful.

Just returned from a weekend at Marshall Meadows after checking out a day early. Stay was a disaster from start to finish. Our room was cold as the radiators needed bleeding. Reception were unable to help with this. The room itself was tired and worn and the bed squeaked loudly which didn't really set the scene for a romantic weekend away. The shower was luke warm. We had originally booked for two nights at The Tillmouth Park Hotel but on arrival we were so disappointed that we did not stay the night(see our review for the hotel) The manager offered to find us another hotel and came up with Marshall Meadows. We were so desperate to leave Tillmouth Park that we accepted and set off. We were given such a wonderful welcome that was in such contrast to the one we had just left . HiWe got married here in Summer 05. We had a monsoon (or at least it felt like it!!) on the day so unfortunately no photos in the grounds but everything else went great. If it rains on your day (fingers crossed not!) get photos in front of open patio doors - looks good. Food was great and hearty - none of this poncy stuff which was what mattered for us.
