Don't eat the food

Jul 2010, Avoid !

The food served to coach parties is atrocious the choise is terrrible the quality even worse, they just keep putting out the same old food every night, the reheated frozen vegetables got worse as our stay progressed. the drinks prices are a rip off. if you stay at this hotel I recommend that you dine at the nearbye Toby Carvery, a great meal for little over a fiver & a glass of red wine £4.00 less than at the Holiday Inn.

This was the first time we’d stayed at a Holiday Inn Express and we were impressed.
It had a complimentary continental breakfast. There was a Restaurant next door.
The room was really clean and had Sky. Better value for money than a Travel Lodge.
Only drawback. Haven't had my loyalty points yet. Access to the hotel off the A1 was easy. Ideal hotel for an overnight stay in the North East.

Very easy to find, it's visible from the A1M. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, but a little cramped. Everything was in good decorative order. The room had a mini-bar, trouser press tea and coffee etc, and it also had AC.
I didn't try the restaurant, but there are plenty places to eat in the immediate area. The hotel is handy for the Metro Centre, beamish museum etc. All in all, nothing special, but decent value for money.
