Lostwithiel Hotel Golf & Country Club

The hotel is set at the edge of the golf course and the views from the upper bar area and the restaurant window are wonderful. Besides the golf course the hotel has a gym and swimming pool.
The rooms are made up from converted barns around a central courtyard the setting is very tranquil.
Our room was very spacious although we did book the superior room. If I had to find fault it would be the size of the TV, which was only a portable and mounted high up the wall and also the bed although extremely comfortable was only a standard double. There were warnings in the room that the sound insulation was not particularly good but we had no problems.
The food at the restaurant was top class. I would recommend not eating during the day. The choice of starters, main courses and desserts was enough to have a different selection every day of the week. The portions are more than ample and the quality is excellent. There was a small supplement on some dishes over the set price but this was minimal. The drink prices in the bar are also very reasonable.
The bar and restaurant have a dress code. (Nothing too silly but enough to stop jeans & T-shirts). Staff at all times were courteous and friendly. I would definitely return and recommend anyone visiting the area particularly for the Eden Project to use this hotel.
