Best Western Penmere Manor Hotel

We stayed at Penmere for one night only, and obtained a good rate last minute at Booking.com. The grounds are extensive and the parking available is good for Falmouth which can have limited parking at this hotels from our prevous experience, although (this may seem like a niggle) the excessive gravel can be a problem to drive away from, requiring some skill if wheel spin is to be avoided. We really enjoyed our stay at the Penmere Manor. The staff are very friendly & helpful. The food, in both the restaurant and the bar, was top notch. The pool & gym looked very tempting (unfortunately we didn't have time to try it out). The hotel gardens are very pleasant. We found the hotel to be in an excellent location for visiting Cornwall's various attractions. It is in easy reach of the Eden Project, Lands End & the Minack Theatre. Booked a one night weekend stay here in a superior double room. This was very spacious, clean and comfortable with a sofa , easy chair, and a lovely bathroom (bath plus shower and two sinks). Tea/ coffee and hot chocolate were provided. The t.v. was fairly old fashioned but I don't have a modern one at home anyway. The hairdryer was slightly irritating as it was attached on a lead to the desk with the type of button you have to keep pressing on in order to operate. Booked into this hotel by my husbands company as he was working in Falmouth. We had an excellant time at this hotel and the staff are most attentive and friendly. The bar food was excellant with a varied menue. The owner of the hotel came and introduced herself to us and this made a nice touch to a very nice stay at this hotel.

This hotel has a good restaurant with a limited but well prepared and presented menu. The food (evening meal) and breakfast is very nice. I particularly liked that fact that mobile telephones are discouraged in the restaurant area, so you can have dinner and or breakfast in peace. Set in beautiful grounds, it is a pity that the interior feels like it has lost its days of glamour, and the decor feels a litle 'tired' once you approach reception from the beautiful grounds. We stayed here midweek for two nights. The standard room we had was okay but nothing special, but for the short time we were here it satisfied our needs. The hotel is set in a lovely area, although it is a little remote from the main areas of Falmouth. We caught the train from Penmere station into town for only £0.70 return per person. We are fairly regular visitors to the Penmere Manor and have always been extremely pleased with the facilities and food. Most main areas have been tastefully decorated, and the hotel has high standards of cleanliness, and the staff are all very friendly. The main disappointment for us was the evening meals. The menu was quite limiting, with surcharges on several items of starters and main courses. And also, quite repetitive with choice, and all have sauces (which is not to everyones taste). We stayed for seven night in a superior garden view room. The room was very big, making it a comfortable stay for the three of us. The room had a double and a single bed. The furniture was already a bit shabby though. Rooms were kept nicely clean. The pool is good, but there was no seating provided if you wanted to pause. Well equipped gym. I travelled to this hotel with a disabled companion in March 2002. She chose this hotel as they told her they a room with a walk-in shower and the hotel was "disabled-friendly". On arrival, the room was lovely but had a 13" step into the shower - not disabled friendly at all. The owner could not have been more helpful, he built a 6" step and put in a handle, but for a disabled person, 6" was not easy, and she still had an extra 7" to step up and 13" to drop.
