Wonderful Wedding Week
We recently got married at the NOW Sapphire (Formerly Paradisus). We went for 7 days and got married on the 5th day that we were there. I loved every minute of it. TripAdvisor nearly gave me a heart attack about a month before the wedding hearing all of the negative reviews- but things could not have worked out better. The resort is beautiful with many pretty lobby areas and water features. The beach is lovely with soft white sand and plenty of chairs and palpas for shade. The pool area is very large and well maintained again with plenty of chairs and shaded areas. The gardens throughout the resort are beautiful and gave it a tropical feel. They also have a lot of kids programs so you can leave the kids with the staff and they will be treated to many activities. They also had entertainment for the adults which was nice, but don't go expecting a Broadway show. We enjoyed it and had fun. The food was excellent. I never had a meal that I did not like. The rooms were nice and met all of our needs. The resort is only about 20 minutes from the airport so the shuttle ride was quick and easy. The hotel can organize trips into town for you or if you want to go further and explore more of Mexico they can do that too. The wedding was lovely and the staff was very accommodating to our needs for the wedding. If I had to complain about anything- it would be the beds and the front desk staff. The beds are very hard (to the point of being uncomfortable) and many of our guests commented on this. We asked for a cushion for our bed and once we got that- it was much better. I would suggest that they automatically put this cushion (like an egg crate mattress topper) on all of their beds to help with comfort. While I didn't really have any major problems with the front desk staff (they did not have a problem getting us new keys the four times we lost ours) I found that they were more apt to say sorry if you had a problem rather than try to find a solution. I thought they could have been just a little more accommodating (and in relation to the rest of the staff that were extremely accommodating- they seemed a little less so). Overall- a great experience and I would recommend this hotel for almost any type of vacation.

Dishonest
When checking in with the front desk, our credit card number was stolen by the hotel and fraudulently used. When I contacted the general manger of the hotel, he had a clerk call me back and did not investigate how this incident occurred nor did they care. This is an all inclusive hotel and my credit card was NOT given to any one else in Mexico but this hotel. BEWARE

Amazing vacation, thank you!
My husband and I spent 7 days, 6 nights at the Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun hotel. It was a wonderful vacation and I would highly recommend this hotel! I felt compelled to write this review because the hotel recently changed ownership (from a Paradisus resort) and prior to leaving on our trip I had read the reviews and was concerned. After staying at the Now Sapphire, there is no need for concern, the hotel is great and the service is exceptional!! The food was delicious, the bar drinks were great, everyone was so friendly & attentive, the grounds were beautiful and there was entertainment each night which was fun to watch. We booked a couple of excursions through the Olympus desk at the hotel and the tours were really fun. Our room: We stayed in a Junior Suite with an ocean view & it was beautiful. Our mini bar was always stocked and bottled water was provided daily. We loved spending time on our balcony in the jacuzzi. Yes, the bed was a little hard, but after a night, we got used to it. The maid was great . . she swept the room of sand each day & provided us with new towels twice a day. The A/C worked well, now that we're going into the summer months that is very important :) The beach: The beach was gorgeous! My husband & I actually walked a few miles both north & south of the hotel along the beach and this stretch of beach was by far one of the nicest. No rocks, coral, dirt, etc, only white sand & crystal clear water. The restaurants: I'm a foodie (from San Francisco and New York prior to that) and I thought the food was great. They have a Japanese restaurant with a hibachi grill, a Mediterranean restaurant, a Mexican restaurant, a French restaurant, a breakfast, lunch & dinner bruch (very nice selection of fresh fruits, veggies, seafood) and a Grill that was steps from the ocean. The spa: We also had massages, which were great. I think we were the only people in the entire spa so it was very quiet & relaxing. They arranged for my husband & I to be side by side during our massages, which was a nice touch. Entertainment: As I mentioned above there was entertainment each night. In the theatre, there were dance shows, live music, an Elvis impersonator one night, a magician another. It was entertaining. Several nights during our stay, local vendors set up shop in the hotel lobby to sell their crafts. There were also a few artists that did live demostrations of their work. I would return to the Now Sapphire without hesitation and also would recommend the hotel to my friends & family. I wish I was going back soon!

Thank you for a wonderful seamless holiday.
Having had past positive experience at the Paradisus Riviera Cancun, the resort was chosen for a repeat perfomance. Four weeks prior to arrival, I had been notified of resort management changes. I was not concerned until I read the postings on TripAdvisor. I have learned that positings need to be averaged & you never know who's raving or ranting....usually ranting. Anyways it MUST be said that the resort IS still amazing. The entire staff very attentative, no problems getting sun chairs / shady spots or clean fluffy towels. The food plentiful & delicious, never an issue with dinner times - always a refreshing beverage. I would again recommend this hotel to anyone without question.

Couldn't Have Been Nicer
We also visited the Now Sapphire over the Memorial Day weekend. Our party of four had read the prior reviews and we were skeptical. Our trip could not have been better. The grounds were beautiful, clean and in great shape. From the time of arrival, everyone was extremely helpful and wanting to please us. We stayed in the Junior Garden View Rooms. We did not pay additional for the preferred service. The rooms were large, clean and tidy. Maid service changed sheets daily and turn the beds down at night. The beds were quite firm. The food was excellent. Primarily ate at the buffet for breakfast and lunch. Food and drink were great. We alternated eating at the specialty restaurants for the evening meal and were never disappointed. Was never a problem getting into the restaurants. You are provided with a daily flyer telling you which restaurants are open for that particular day. One evening, the air conditioning was not working in the Mediterranean Restaurant which made it quite warm, but that was not fault of the waiters or staff. Cocktails were always delicious. Our primary goal was R & R, so we did not leave the resort. Our goals were to catch the sun, relax and eat delicious food. The pools were exceptionally clean, never had any problems getting beach towels or pool side loungers. We were there during the two weddings of the weekend. From our view, it looked as if the staff did any exceptional job and worked very hard. If we did have a recommendation it would be to: (1) have bendable straws so we did not have to sit up to drink our favorite drinks, (2) blend the ice a little longer so our straws do not plug up as much and (3) provide complimentary internet service in each room. I would recommend this establishment to you.

Loved this resort
We enjoyed our stay here very much. The staff was wonderful - pleasant , helpful and most were fluent in English. The rooms were lovely and really spacious with all usual amenities - nice patios, air conditioning, bar fridge, hair dryer, safe, ironing board and iron. Our rooms were spotless and the fridge restocked with soda and water daily. There weren't a lot of tourists at the resort, so not all of the al a carte restaurants were open every day. However, something different was open each day and there was opportunity to try them all. The food was wonderful - delicious with great presentation -even the buffet. Even the house wines were very palatable. Because of the recent ownership change and the poor reviews, we weren't sure what to expect on arrival. Our expectations were exceeded! Even though the staff are undoubtedly being monitored by the new management, they all seemed to be happy and helpful. We received great service from all staff we encountered and tipped to show appreciation. The service "with a smile" was always received first. The beach was beautiful and the seaweed that was coming ashore was picked up several times a day. The swimming pool was fantastic. The location of this resort is handy to Cancun - 15 minute drive. We are looking forward to a return visit sometime in the future.

Very pleasurable trip. Great property and service!
We booked our trip early Spring through bookit.com, and like many others, we were concerned with the early May reviews of the service during the early transition from Paradissus to NOW. Those fears were quickly put to rest as soon as we arrived! I think the early May reviews were from all the same group of wedding goers who were not pleased with their meal seating! We chose to go Preferred guest and when we arrived we were lead into an air conditioned room and handed cool towels. The room contained a TV, two full time staff and a waiter, all there to assure you a good stay. The room is stocked with internet computers, liquor and snacks. Needless to say, we stopped by many times to see Wilbert and Gabe. Gabe lead us to our ocean view room with hot tub on the deck and quickly set up our wireless. The room also included unlimited mini-bar. Our king size bed was firm but comfortable. Maid and turn down service was excellent! AC, Hot water and the bathroom all worked well. You also get a digital safe. TV gets mostly Spanish language channels with a few English channels thrown in. As earlier people posted, the grounds were beautiful. Pretty flowers and lizards running back and forth. No bugs to speak of. The beach was very nice. Plenty of chairs. Beach cleaned like it seemed every hour. Lifeguards at the beach too. They have sailboats which you can use for 1 hour and you have a pretty wide area in which to sail. Three pools. The main pool was nice and very clean. Not very deep but plenty of room to be alone. No problem getting lounges nor towels. You do not need to leave a deposit and you can use as many towels as you want. The second pool was further away from the breeze and beach and was an Olympic size pool which no-one utilized. Third pool was the former pool reserved for Preferred guests (not anymore) and had a more quiet feel for it as not as many people no about it. If you want total peace and quiet this is the pool for you. Plenty of beds to lie on and read. I could not believe they were hooked up for 120V AC! Like others have stated, with the NOW regime, you do not get a wristband, all they do is ask your room # for meals. Meals were great! We stuck mostly with the entree restaurants for dinner. We liked the fish/steak restaurant and the Mediterranean place the most. Try the steak and lobster at both places! You will not be disappointed! Service was first rate at all places to eat and all eight bars. They also had a couple of theme buffet nights Mexico and Caribbean which we did not attend. For off-site activities we did Tulum, Xel-Ha, and Chichen Itza. We also went to the nearby town of Puerto Morelos which is a 40 minute beach walk from the property or a $9.00 one way taxi trip. Plenty of reasonable priced shopping along with ATM'S and gift shops, a XXXOO which is sort of a 7-11 and two drug stores. The only downer to the trip was two huge weddings over the Memorial Day weekend which closed down restaurants for an evening or two and tested the patience of the staff with their demands. I would recommend the NOW Sapphire for couples and families.

Great place for a truly romantic destination wedding
My wife and I just attended a destination wedding over the Memorial Day weekend. This was an awesome and special event which the hotel maked truly memorable. The hotel was great with really romantic settings. The rooms were very comfortable, the staff very helpful and curteous, and the food and drink were very good quality and kept coming. When I return here, I need to exert some more self-control because the food was so good that I ate too much. There is a beautiful coral reef just offshore where I went snorkeling. The hotel also provided sailing and kayaking on the beach, both of which were great fun. We stayed extra days after the wedding, and were able to really relax. The pools are clean and very relaxing. The beach is kept clean. The sea is very clear and warm, full of fish. Coming from San Diego, I wouldn't recommend surfing here (the swelll was all of 6 inches LOL.)

My daughter's wedding was spectacular, gorgeous, wonderful and perfect!
We brought 146 people to the Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun for my daughter's wedding over Memorial Day weekend 2010. The resort is a paradise! The rooms are clean, spacious and lovely. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and helpful at all times. The wedding was a fairytale wedding....romantic and striking! All of our guests were thrilled with the resort and can't wait to go back! They thanked us for picking the Sapphire and loved every aspect of the resort, the spa, the beautiful stretch of beach and gorgeous pool. The architecture of the resort is spectacular...stunning at night. It's all lit up and very romantic. We love the resort!

Amazing Family & Wedding Getaway!
My partner and I, along with 24 of our closest friends and family members tavelled to the (then) Paradissus in March of this year and it was AMAZING. Beatiful resort - we were in awe of the marble hallways, the numerous fountains, and the amazing pool. The food was fantastic - so many different options at the regular restaurant, and different options every day. The only drawback in my mind was how few chaise lounges there were on the beach available for 'regular' guests of the resort - most were reserved for the Royal Club members and I don't recommend paying the extra money for the few additional perks. We were there for our wedding and the ceremony was beautiful - we couldn't have asked for better facilities, and better staff to help plan our amazing week.
