I booked this last minute....never a good idea. The apartments are okay, clean and comfortable. The place overall felt slightly down at heel and the resort is pricey. The staff seemed a little bit put out by any requests and you got the feeling you were interupting their day by being there.
I know the pound isn't that strong at the moment but there seemed to be pressure to go into/stay/spend more every where we went. We even fell for the old trick of the waiter say we will make you something really special...then bringing a large portion of something from the menu and it being twice the price of anything on the menu. I realise its march but 4 out of five places were closed. Wouldn't go back...wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

Just come back from a fab week in malia with 3 friends. The hotel is great, lovely food at decent prices, you dont get ripped off in the drinks as there is actually alcohol in them! and the staff are wonderfull. A lovely safe hotel, very clean and a decent size room.
Very relaxed atmosphere in the day but three is only a little room round the pool so if the hotel is busy you will probly need to go to the beach to sunbathe, but thats no problem as its a 2min walk and it is lovely. At nighttime the hotel bar -babylon club comes to life, it has a fab atmosphere and the hotel staff go out of there way to give you deals on the drinks.
My holiday in malia was amazin and having this hotel to stay at really did top it off! i would definately return to malia and to the dionyssos.

This place was a joke, In all my years of repping ,working and being a holiday maker in corfu, crete, kos and zante have I seen such a racketeering rip off as this resort of malia, full of greek ripp off merchants with their rat boy and girl worker pr harrassing every por tourist in their path for their hard earned cash....one scratch on yout quad bike,,,300 euros,,,sun bed in a packed beach dump like torromolinos (5 euro sarting price then you have to fight for an hout to get it to 10 euros for 4 days on a dump of a beach like tinned sardines, and god help you if the psycho greek boss sees you not converting a sale ,you guarenteed not to be working there tomorrrow. 5 euros a drink .do they realise thats 5 pounds with our eonomomic decline. The tour oporators much be doing cheap deals so that the vermin can swoop in and get all ya spending money in the 1st 2 days of arrival....at least when 18-30 do this ,they line up aload of **** poor excursions that could be put together by two dead monkeys. Ive spoken to many reps over the years and I.Q of them just slumps to lower and lower .just a usual example of the uneducated idiots we churn out in this country. anyway the most shocking was the dionyssos with its fort knox, open prison atmosphere where you are constantly hunted down on every step you take by around 8 cctv cameras.Ive worked in secure unite hospitals with less security 24/7. i know its for safety.but a deposit box for your valuables and cash is all you will need. Instead you have the lovely Maria hunting tourist down all day watching her cctv recordins for the slightest thing or excuse to extract money from guests ,who to be honest have just got enough for one meal and a bottle of drink from the hugely overpriced supermarket,,,4 pounds for a bag of crisps, some cheapo greek butter and some water.. as for wanting 30 euros if anyone comes back to your room is beyond a disqrace and 42 euros for air con a week,,,or 25 euros for a fan for a week...i bought one from local electric shop for 32 euros then passed it one for them to rent out,,,you were allowed 6 hours extra in ya room for 20 euros at last night other wise its kick out at 12noon which ofcourse is everones fave....get more racketeering. i do blame the euro and greece comiing to ec. as im sure they do have to pay more tax...i would mind but most of these fisherman who got rich quick of the tourist trade wouldnt know what to do with it or how to spend it.... you can see where the money went on dionyssos.with it elabriate bathroom next to reception..still no bog roll as usual.... so anyway ,its the same old story like here like greece resorts...the greaks treat us like crap,we dont go back there, so prices go up to contemplate...the greek season is now june to middle sepember now...it used to be may to end oct. so as the season gets shorter, they think of more and more ways to screw money out of us,,,take your own oxygen next time ,as the so called fishermen/business men will be charging for that soon.

There wasn't much to complain about Hotel Dionyssos to be fair.
The apartment was clean and tidy and you felt pretty secure. I think me and my cousin were lucky because we had a larger room than many other people which is always good when you've got two girls trying to get ready. The rooms on the ground floor don't have aircon but they don’t really need it though as it's a lot breezier....but the drawback was that we had one or two roaches crawl onto the terrace that the higher levels didn't get.
Maria the receptionist was friendly but she did try and accuse us of having a guest in our room - she played back the CCTV and it showed a girl climbing over our terrace at 7.20am....it was my cousin going to the shop to get some water! So big sister is watching at all times! But it does make you feel safer though.
I gave this review an 8 because I really can't fault the accommodation but I would NEVER go back to Malia.
The resort itself is one of the skankiest I've been to! The whole place was filthy and it's easy to see how Brits get this bad reputation.
If you want to go somewhere where anything goes and nothings left to the imagination then maybe this is the place for you but you do have to dodge 100's of used condoms just to get on the beach in the day!
I've been on some excellent clubbing holidays to various locations that have been mad but still have standards of hygiene, Malia doesn't fit this criteria. At 21, I also felt very old there believe it or not...it seems to be a place for 18yr olds and chavs on their first holiday away from home.
Another thing I was glad to see the back of was the quad bikes! Couldn't people understand that they didn't look cool on them they looked like chumps! They are everywhere, there's no getting away from them!
Honestly, if you are 19 or over and want to go on a clubbing holiday, do not go to Malia! Try Playa De Ingles in Gran Canaria instead it's 1000 times better and cleaner!

Awesome! Right on the strip...5 mins from the beach! The food is good and very cheap, as are the drinks! Very secure, the security guard is always around and a nice chap! In fact all the staff were nice, get on the right side of them n you'll probably get some free drinks!
Rooms have everything u need, shower, kitchen area, TV, although u do have 2 pay for air con which is wise as its boiling!
Attached too Babylon bar which is really good and lively at night, it shuts before you stumble in so noise isn't a problem!
Nice pool, clean with a good atmosphere!
Aw I miss Malia! Definitely recommend the place and this Hotel!

Just got back from holiday and so wish I was back there! We had such a wicked time. We booked last minute so didn’t really no what to expect but it was brilliant!
The hotel itself is located on the strip (as you've probably already gathered from the other reviews) so can be a bit loud at night if you want to go back 2 your room early for a quiet one - but who does that????
Don't fall for the 4 for 1 with free fishbowl crap! You pay 7euro for a drink and get 3 free but I’m telling you, its fruit juice! And I know that, cos the bar staff we made friends with told me! Your better off buying a proper cocktail for 5 euro that contains proper alcohol!
There’s a bar at the front of the hotel that you have to walk through. I would say this is probably one of the best bars on the strip. We got to know the workers there and they plied us with so many free drinks it was unbelievable!
The bars a bit further up where the road splits into 2 aren’t as good. They employ too many PR's who literally drag you in!
Food was good at the red lion. Proper English grub and reasonably cheap too! They also play the football/soccer am so the other half was happy!
The beach was brilliant. Lots of people and D.Js playing too. Good tip - Hire a quad or moped and drive to Star Beach, bout 10 mins away. The beach there is good and they have a water park as well as water sports and bungee jumping!
We had friends staying at the Bella Elena up the road in Old Town and their rooms where shocking!!! So glad I didn't go there.
All in all I had a wicked time. I wasn't going to come home!

Just got back from the Dionyssos yesterday. The Apartments were clean and seemed to be well looked after apart from the bathroom! The shower was not what we expected after paying nearly £600 on a holiday! But 2wentys were never going to put us in the Ritz because of the reputation of the British abroad!
The bad thing about these apartments was that everyone who had air conditioning in this hotel seemed to be ill (including me). So I would turn it off when you are sleeping leaving the key ring in the plug for when you are out!
Also the maid would bring the water from the air conditioning through the room from the balcony, which I don't think is the best thing to do! Another thing is the amount of money you have to pay there. Cost us 114 Euros for the safety deposit box and the air conditioning, which is the last thing you want to do after paying £600 to get there!
You also don't get this money back! You then have to give 50 Euros on arrival which you do get back if u don’t damage everything! It is also 30 Euros if you bring someone back, even your mates from a different hotel in the day! Maria is very friendly and will help you as much as she can!
I don't think I will be going with 2wentys again! The rep was just rubbish! I seen him in the airport and he didn't remember me even though I was in a group of 14 boys who talk to him all the time. I had to remind him that I was under him! They ask you to go on excursions which is just a waste of money!
For example the 50 cent night! You have to pay 30 Euros first and then every drink is 50 cent! They try to make it cheap but it isn’t when you got to pay 30 Euros, it’s just your typical night out in Malia!
Another thing was that it was a bit like being in school! They would have posters saying clean up your act! Saying that we have to behave, it was implying that the maid would inspect the room! Not very Trustworthy! They would also issue in every room a damage price list which looked like a menu!
You had this really plain looking room with a plasma TV inside it? Just didn’t make sense! It looked about £150 worth but if you damage it, it will set you back 500 Euros! Just trying to grab money by the look of it! The one thing I would do is go on the bar crawl, which is free and shows the great clubs in Malia!
I do have to say that these apartments seemed to be one of the best I have seen out there and the most secure with the CCTV and the security guard (John) who was great to all of us. Much better than the Castro de primavera, Minoa and the Soula Marie.
All in all I may sound against the place, but it is a good, modern, and well run hotel. The nightlife is great there just quite rough. Try the venue which is great! Try squeeze bar which is also great. The George and the dragon and the red lion for grub! Great!
Wouldn’t really go back there as Ibiza just beats it every time!

Just got back from Malia and can’t wait to go back! There were 10 of us girls staying at the Dionyssos apartments and we couldn't have asked for better!
We had the most perfect location! Right on the strip in the middle of all the action! We were a bit worried that this might be a bit too in the centre for us but we were proven wrong!
Literally walked out the apartment and within seconds have every kind of bar you could wish for! It’s a 5 min walk to the beach but the pool was really good!
The rooms were comfortable and cleaned everyday! We had the whole of the basement floor to ourselves so in a way it felt like our own little house! Some rooms were bigger than others but all we did was sleep there so it didn’t matter! The rooms were double glazed so noise wasn’t a problem! Babylon bar, which is attached to the Dionyssos, closes around 4 so after that there’s no noise at all!
Maria who is in charge was amazing! Such a lovely lady and couldn’t help you enough!! The other staff were nice and friendly and food and drinks at the bar were nice and cheap!
CCTV was discreet but made us all feel really safe! Compared to a lot of the other hotels I think ours was definitely one of the safest with best security!
We all had an amazing holiday and would definitely go back to the Dionyssos! Would recommend it to anyone! Well obviously younger people as it’s exclusive to 2wentys!
Malia is really good and we loved it! Would recommended cheeky 1/2, union bar, zoo bar (cocktails) castle club (foam party) and banana bar!

Have only been back 4 hrs and had to write a review! This hotel was truly amazing!
I have had the best holiday that I can remember, due to the wonderful staff that couldn't do enough for you. Maria and Pedro I miss you already, these are two brilliant people who really exceed all your expectations.
As for the hotel, any photos you see don't credit this gorgeous hotel enough! A recent refurb has turned it into a modern, classy hotel situated right in the centre, close enough to all the action in the evening with its own busy bar and 5 mins to the beach and water park during the day.
One gigantic plus which they don't seem to advertise and we were so grateful for, was double glazed windows. so a peaceful night’s sleep whatever the hour!! I always felt safe as there was always a member of staff around, and the CCTV was so discreet you forget it's there (not that it was ever required but it's nice to know there’s someone watching out for you if ever needed)
Rooms were lovely and spacious each with private balcony. Self catering equipment provided us with everything we needed, but there were so many fabulous restaurants we barely ate in.
You must go to the Red Lion (fresh, home cooked meals, huge portions) especially the Sunday carvery! Also for something a little more special the brassarie which has great staff and the best wine list in Crete!
Please do not hesitate booking this hotel it is suitable for everyone. I'm going back for sure and taking all my friends so they can see just how fab this hotel really is!

The apartments were very small, quite dingy!
The pool area was a joke and the bar was seriously over priced and our bar turned into a night club, so when an opportunity arose to take someone back to our room, we had to pay a 30 euro charge.
The only good thing about that hotel was the receptionist called Maria.
We spent most of our time at the Kastro apts, where am glad to say we have booked for this year because it's 10 times better than this hotel can ever be!

Well what can I say, absolutely fab. I loved every minute of it. The apartments are fantastic, they are great for what you need, shower and somewhere to crash.
Everything on door step couldn’t be closer beach 2 min walk or 5 if you had rough night.
Red lion pub the best the chicken Caesar to die for.
Maria is fantastic she the best, there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for us amazing. The owner Mike he's lovely, he looks a bit mean but I think he a big softie. Although he told me I drive like a hooligan as I hired a quad bike he he he.
The food is great and so are the prices. It’s a top place and cannot wait to go back in September.
