Marriott Cardiff Hotel Reviews
Feb 2008, Miss K Jones
The hotel itself is nice, lovely comfortable rooms and beds. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and found that the food was poor quality for the price, so i would recommend eating out in the evening. Breakfast was fine though. Also if you can afford the upgrade to executive then the executive lounge is lovely.

Excellent!
from BristolPavs
Have stayed here a lot recently. The value for money is unbeatable and the quality cannot be faulted really. The breakfast is varied and high quality, the staff are courteous and the rooms well-appointed with great views of the city from the upper floors. I generally like to seek out smaller, privately owned hotels and am reluctant to give my and my firm's money to "the Man", who is behind the Marriott chain, but for a consistent, know-what-you're-getting stay, I will come back here. The only complaint I have is that guests are charged £10 for parking. Seems a bit steep although it's secure I guess. Word of warning if trying to get here by SatNav - be careful because the council seem to have messed about with all the streets in the vicinity and I have only discovered one way to get to the hotel, which involves coming at it from the south (under the railway line).
Excellent room and fantastic breakfast
from Medsec7
Wonderful, if slightly small, room with luxurious bedding and comfortable furnishings. Modern, clean bathroom. Breakfast consisted of everything you could think of - porridge, fruit juices, fresh fruit, freshly cooked pancakes, cereals, muffins, croissants and other pastries, full cooked breakfast with all the trimmings and toast. Although the breakast was expensive, it was included in the price of the room which was reasonable. The only downside was access - we got lost round the one way system as there were roadworks. The car parking is in a multistory car park which was £10.
Excellent Hotel

Ideal place to stay in central Cardiff. Moderrn, excellent rooms, large comfortable beds. Restaurant has a wide ranging menu and good wine list. Pool is OK, but could do with a bit of an update! I've stayed here quite a few times and always find it a pleasant experience. Staff are very courteous and helpful. Has a great secure car park (multi-storey) right next door. But, finding the entrance to the hotle by car is a little tricky becuase of all the redevelopment work going on nearby.
Loved The Cardiff Marriott.................

Better than it looks !

We stayed here for 2 nights for the recent Police concert. From the outside, the hotel doesn't look great but it does get better inside. Arrived early at 11am and our room was ready as we had requested an early check in. Had requested a double room with high floor close to the lift and that's what we got. However, the double room close to the lift is very small - so perhaps request a room with 2 double beds even if there is only 2 of you as the twin rooms are much bigger (once it doesnt cost more of course !). Room was clean and well presented. We did request a city view which was a mistake as there is a building site across the road so no sleep in that's for sure ! Request a room at the back or a bay view . Had breakfast in the restaurant on both mornings and while busy, no problems at all. Good selection of food and all well presented. The bar is nice too, split level with 2 flat screen tv's and there is also a large heated decking area for smokers out the front. Overall would recommend but dont judge it by the outside and watch out for size and location of the rooms !
Nice hotel, great location
from tonynelson
As you'd expect with a Marriott, the hotel facilities and staff were well above average. The hotel is located right next a shopping district with tons of great food and bars. It's also located about 1km south of Cardiff's huge city-center park with tons of trails and other activities.
Excellent location

We stayed at this hotel for one night with our two children when the Wales V Germany football match was on. We have stayed here before as it is ideally situated near the Millenium Stadium and Railway Station. On arrival our room was not ready, as we wanted to go out for the afternoon we were not really bothered. When we returned later our room was still not ready, the Reception staff kindly upgraded us to a fantastic suite. The Staff are very helpful and polite. Although the hotel was busy due to the football match, it was very quiet in the restaurant at breakfast. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of variety. The only bad thing about this hotel is the price of the drinks which are very expensive! We will definately stay at the Marriott on our next visit to Cardiff.
Ideal for us
from malee47
Just stayed in the Marriott for a wedding in Cardiff and found it ideal for our needs. The hotel is centrally located, over the looks the Millenium Stadium and within walking distance from the shopping centre with the new Mermiads Quay also easily accessable. The hotel is clean modern and as functional as you would expect from a city centre hotel. We had a nice room with 2 small double beds which was very clean and modern. There was an ideal typical buffet style breakfast which was most acceptable. My only gripe is having to apy £10 per night extra for parking which I feel should be included. Otherwise highly recommended
Good Location, friendly staff and very comfy bed!

This hotel is located in easy walking distance of all the attractions of cardiff and a good nightlife. On check in the hotel staff were very friendly and eager to please. They dealt with us quickly and efficiently despite there being 14 of us. Nothing was too much trouble. As previous reviews state DO NOT USE THE BAR unless you want a hefty bill or have abundance of money. It was £2 just for a very small diet coke!! Instead get outside to one of the many bars in spitting distance of the hotel. There is building work around the hotel as Cardiff is undergoing a transformation at the moment but this was no problem, we heard no night noise from the pubs/bars or anything else in the room. The rooms were comfy with nice bathrooms, great showers and even better beds, we are still talking about them now! The breakfast was good but as we stayed a saturday night everyone came down about the same time so supplies were sparse. However saying that they did fill them back up and the kitchen staff worked really hard. Also watch out if you arrive by car. Your £10 a night car parking charge only applies to midday at check out. If you do not move your car to later because you are off doing things in Cardiff you will be charged at £2 an hour after midday, they fail to tell people this piece of information.
