I stay here occasionally when working in the area. The staff are always friendly and polite and the rooms are large, clean and comfortable, big fluffy towels and king size bed. However service is slow, it took ages for the receptionist to answer the phone, a long time for... more

We booked this hotel for the first night of our honeymoon. the cost was £240 for the one night. Staying here did not ruin our trip, but we were not treated as we would expect from even a one star hotel, manners from the staff would have been nice! If the only charged ... more

With a son at university we are regular visitors to this area and our usual place was fully booked so we gave this one a try. Won't go back though! Receptionist seemed confused over where our room was on arrival. We came down to find the bar and she told us where it was,... more

Lovely hotel ~ repeat visit planned
Booked this hotel with laterooms.com on the morning of our stay and got a great deal on a Twin Room. Having read the previous reviews I was a little apprehensive especially as the stay was a last minute treat for my Mum and I prior to an appointment in nearby Caernarfon. We were not disappointed at all, only sorry our trip couldn't lend itself to a longer stay on this occasion. The rate we got was not much more than what we would have paid for a basic B&B. From the greeting at the front desk, help with bags to our room, service from the team in the restaurant to the friendliness of the housekeeping staff when we passed along the corridor on our way along the corridor in the morning the whole feel to our stay was a very positive and amiable one. Our twin room was beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and very spacious. The windows overlook a babbling brook that winds along the back of house service road which lent itself to peace and quiet. We arrived in the dark so were pleasantly suprised by the beautiful surroundings of the countryside that greeted us on our way around the hotel in the morning. We ate in the restaurant on the evening of our arrival. The food is a la carte style. For the standard of hotel I felt £29 was reasonable for a freshly prepared three course meal, though I was a little disappointed at the charge of just over £4 for a large bottle of sparkling water. The wine list is extensive and has a broad range of prices to suit every pocket. The breakfast in the morning was fabulous with plenty of choice ranging from the fruit, cereal, yoghurt, juice and pastries on the self-serve table to a choice of full-cooked or lighter bite hot breakfast dishes. We were there on B&B basis, however at £12.50, this is one of the cheapest and best value for m oney breakfasts I have seen. At normal rates this hotel is at the higher end budget rate however I have stayed in more expensive hotels in the city and not encountered anywhere near the standards or service. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Faulty Towers I Swear...
This is where they made "Faulty Towers" im sure of it! The most horendous (and expensive) hotel outside London ive visited in the UK. A "standard" room is around £200 rack rate and should be £40 based on the standards (and I was "unlucky enough to book a suite which was just a larger room, not a seperate living area) Its one of those hotels where the same person serves room service, books you in, cleans the room etc but they try so hard to be an exclusive manor. Cut your prices in half, stop charging £9.50 for a steak baguette (plus a £2.50 "tray charge") and supply towels at the pool, get a porter (so you dont carry your own cases down the long halls) and fix the changing room showers for a start. Add onto that just 6 TV channels, a bathroom from 1970 and a bed that has already been used a thousand nights (dont go there!), welcome to the Manor!!! Snowdon is an amazing place, they could do so much more but fail on every count. It comes accross as pure greed.
Staff are great
Stayed for one (Saturday) night, had an excellent room, staff were very friendly and helpful, facilities OK, food better than average.
Fawlty Towers?
Well - probably nice for a one-off but no more. Very spacious rooms but the level of customer service (which is not far off incompetant) lets the place down. I have stayed over 20 twenty times for meetings due to a lack of other availiable options and eat out whenever possible to avoid the very poor restaurant food which is v over-priced and very bland. Could be good but its best days are clearly gone. I have never paid the full rate at this hotel and dont understand why anyone would. Swimming pool is also occaisionally murky or not open at all. For business customers there is no mobile signal and while they say they are equiped for business meetings, the ones I have been at and indeed hosted have been woefully managed. Not for me!
Peaceful, Relaxing Hotel
We stayed for just one night at the Seiont Manor while visiting Snowdon. The hotel itself is set in beautiful surroundings and is very peaceful, its a short drive away from Mount Snowdon and the mountain railway, so its ideally situated if visiting this part of Wales. Upon arrival we were greeted by two female reception staff, one being much more helpful than the other. We were given the keys to our room and directed to where it was. I was pleasantly suprised at the size of the bedroom, we had booked a standard room, but it was really large, with a king size bed, separate area with a coffee table and chairs and big wardrobes. We were situated on the upper floor and the room had a balcony overlooking the garden. The ground floor rooms have french doors opening to a patio area with outside table and chairs. The bathroom was a good size and had bathrobes and toiletries. We dined in the restaurant that evening. Prior to our meal, we had a drink in the lounge. The lounge has big comfortable sofas and coffee tables and lots of books in shelves around the room. It did feel a bit cold in atmosphere and as the hotel did not appear to be very full, this made it feel somewhat worse. However, the restaurant itself is very nice and bright in colour. The meal was very good and staff helpful and efficient. We took breakfast the following morning, again this was fine and consisted of the usual cold and hot items. Overall, this is a very nice hotel. If you are looking to get away from it all, then this is the place to visit.
Fantastic weekend
Spent a wonderful weekend at Seiont Manor where we had honeymooned 5 years previously. I was a little bit apprehensive before I arrived because sometimes hotels don' t live up to your expectations. But everything was great - the bedroom was clean and really well decorated, massive bed, clean big bathroom with bathrobes and powerful shower. My husband had ordered champagne and flowers as a surprise and these were ready in the room with glasses. Breakfasts were really good although service on the Sunday morning when it was busy was not so good. Although for once we sat and watched other people being turned away because the tables hadn't been cleared - but that was the only down side. I can recommend dinner - only £28 for 3 courses and it is like Masterchef food. The swimming pool and sauna are also really good. The staff were really helpful (mostly) and we were able to totally relax whether we were in our room or in the library or bar. So can totally recommend this hotel for a relaxing get away from it all break.
Does not seem like a 'hand picked' hotel
Cant understand why it is listed as a 'handpicked' hotel. It probably was when it first opened, but now needs some tlc to get it back to that position. Expected a lot more for the money. The hotel was dull, not a flower in sight, the lounge and bar were a depressing shade of grey. Cigarette butts left on patio, in fake fireplaces, in patio furniture. Pool stripped of pool furniture and plants (so not as website photo). Ladies changing area - dirty/mouldy showers. Food is good.
Nice And Peaceful But Needs Improvement
Myself and my boyfriend stayed here last Friday, and were very impressed with the driveway and look of the hotel. The female member of staff, Mary, who greeted us was very welcoming and helpful. Our room was an executive suite booked through laterooms and was a lovely size and clean apart from the squashed spider in the bathroom! The only downsides to the room were the fact there was no safe, and it was rather dark due to the woodland area and this would have been fine with ample lighting, but the lighting itself was rather dim. Looking out at the stream though was really lovely. We went for a swim almost straight away and reception provide you with towels. By now the female member of staff had been replaced by a man, and he wasn't in the slightest bit helpful. He didn't advise us that you had to press a button to get into the pool, or that you needed 50p for the lockers! (Which you normally don't need in hotels, so we hadn't even thought to ask!). So we changed in the changing rooms then brought our belongings out to the poolside with us. We weren't hungry enough for a 3 course meal, so we opted for the bar menu instead. When we got to the bar there was no staff so we waited for 10 min, but no one showed up, so my boyfriend had to go and find someone. We then ordered, and although it came relatively quickly, and was well presented, my chicken curry and rice was extremely bland. My boyfriend asked for vinegar and this came about 10 min later too! The bar was empty apart from us and there was absolutely no ambience at all. It would have helped to have music playing in the background and probably better furnishings and lighting to make it feel less stark. The lounges could do with having coal fires as they felt extremely cold and dark. The bed was very comfortable and spacious and the shower was very powerful. We also liked the fact that check out wasn't until 12. Breakfast (which was included) was very nice with a good choice, but we both felt glad we didn't dine in the restaurant the night before, (where the breakfast was also served) as again, there was no ambience, just rectangular white rooms, with rectangular tables covered with white tablecloths. Very plain. Upon leaving, Mary served us again and was very helpful, advising us on good places to visit within the area. We enjoyed the stay but feel we wouldn't visit again, unless the hotel took heed of the above suggestions.
Wedding at Seiont Manor
Had a wonderful weekend at Seiont Manor. Some of the reviews said that the bedrooms were in need of refurbishment - well ours was perfect - such a large room and comfy bed, great bathroom and even the smellies were lovely (generous proper bottles!) - oh, and there were bathrobes (wouldn't usually get robes when paying less than £100 a night). I thought it was excellent value for money and the relatively cheap price and high standard of the accommodation made up for the rather expensive bar prices. Staff friendly and efficient - yet somehow not at all intrusive, we really felt that we had the run of the place. The breakfast was beautifully presented and freshly cooked (no hotplates - exceptional for UK hotels!). Beautiful surroundings - the weather was fine and that obviously made it even better. There was a slight hiccup and the wedding breakfast was a little late but it was very, very good and worth the wait. Barbecue in the evening delicious and again all beautifully done (no paper plates or plastic cutlery). Highly recommended - for a wedding or just a lovely relaxing break. I know that we didn't wat to leave (not that we were rushed). Thank you!
lovely hotel in beautiful area
Stayed for three nights in May. Beatiful hotel - although not quite perfect. The room was very large with french doors opening to the garden. Nicely decorated with antiques and subtle patterns. Large menu of breakfast options, but the quality could be better (toast was made from sliced bread for exaple). Dined in the restaurant one evening - very good. Lots of comfortable sofas round the hotel so plenty of spaces to relax with a drink and you are made to feel quite at home in the country house surroundings.
