Bulkeley Hotel

The hotel has great views accross the Menai Straits to Snowdonia and is just accross the road from the Bull's Head which has good beer and great food. But, the hotel is like something from the 70's. It's a large building and it could look great if it was refurbished tastefully. My room looked as if it had been last decorated in the 80's, although the bathroom had recently been refurbished ~ nothing flash but it was clean. Except that there was no hot water- the first morning I was told that the pilot light on the boiler kept blowing out due to high winds, the second morning there was no hot water at all , apparently due to too many guests using their showers at the same time, so no water got to the upper floors. Check in was conducted by a surly female member of staff who probably had a a dictionary at home with the 'p' pages missing (the ones which contain such words as 'polite' and 'professional'). Breakfast is ok but not a great choice of cereals or fruit, cooked breakfast was on the greasy side. Hotel is ok if you're staying a night or two for business but might disappoint tourists if they are expecting good food, nice decor and good service.
