Altona Hotel

The hotel was filthy. Cracked walls ingrained with dirt. Linen laundered but still stained and worn through. Shower grimy and tiled floor cracked and chipped.Cockroach seen on the wall of one of our rooms. When we told the staff member he simply said sorry but didn't appear surprised. Please stay away.

This is a very grotty hotel. The reception area was grubby, untidy and tatty (as indeed were the staff). The rooms were very tiny and scruffy, the carpet was coming away from the floor, the curtain pole was broken and the curtains were torn. Breakfast was a strict allocation of one croissant and one piece of French bread each. We did at least get a second cup of coffee - eventually. It's true, the TV and phone are worthless, the staff is not helpful and the view for half the rooms is the back of another building, but I spent three nights there and had a very pleasant experience. For that price, a few minor inconveniences didn't bother me. That being said, I must urge you to BEWARE Hotel Altona! Despite my pleasant experience, the room across the hall from me where two of my friends stayed had bedbugs!!! we could not believe our eyes when we saw the reception area of this hotel. It was in a filthy condition with stacks of dirty laundry in one corner.Worse was to come when we saw our allocated room which was filthy.I could not bear to spend one night in this so called hotel.There was no lighting on the stairwell which we considered an absoloute danger.We left our luggage and by sheer luck found a good 2star hotel nearby. Believe me we could not get out quick enough.

i stayed in this hotel with my mother and 10 year old sister, it was their first ever holiday and a bitter disappoitment when we entered the hotel. To say it was dirty would be an understatement, the sheets were dirty and smelly and the bathroom smelt like a sewer, it was so bad we had to ask to move rooms! i stayed at Altona for 3 nights in the begining of may with my family. IT WAS horrible, i couldnt sleep well for those 3 nites, room are basically dirty, no towel, even u ask at the reception, they dont seem to be hapi to give u. tv is not working, fone is not working, the room is super super small, so dirty that i dare not to walk on the carpet with my bare foot. the location is close to the nord station, however the area is very unsafe, evertime when we got bk to hotel late, we were so scare since there were always some weird pple to... more

This hotel had nothing to offer for a guest except that it is a place to keep ur luggage in the daytime and go out .Staying inside the hotel is awful.It is cramped,walls are cracked,there is a dirty smell in the rooms and everything looks as if it needs some urgent maintainance. They did not change the bed sheets for first 3 days until me and my husband asked them to do it.The manager said what is a bedsheet? This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It was in a very shady/seedy area and the staff was rude and unreliable. They twice forgot our wake up calls and laughed when we told them this. Also as well as hotel guests there were people living in the 'hotel,' as residents which was very unprofessional. The breakfast is extremely tiny and the dishes were dirty. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It may be cheap but it is still not worth it.

It was the worst hotel ever.... Staff was not very friendly, even a bit rude. No towels, our room was like a getto.... crack on the wall, leaking batteries, TV did not work, very noisy, unprofessionall staff. Very unsafe area. Bad view. I would never ever stay in this hotel again

Without doubt the worse hotel we have ever stayed at. We booked through Bmi baby, who never replied when we complained to them. Yes its convenient to Gard Du nord station,and reception area looks o.k but hotel in general was also dirty, doors falling off hinges, electrical fittings including fire alarm system points loose on walls, fire doors wedged open, hard grey towels which many years ago may have been white, a bed which Napoleons horses may have slept on, damp patches on ceilings and walls, loose wallpaper, a very poor breakfast.... more
