I was looked after extremely well- staff couldn't do more for you. I have to say that it's the staff that make the Sunderland Marriott and having stayed in many Marriott’s across the country, the Sunderland Marriott is by far the best at looking after you. The staff are very down to earth but still very professional in their roles.
I ate breakfast and dinner there which really was a nice experience- dining area was pristinely clean and food was cooked to perfection every time with lots of choice always available.
There are quite a few restaurants right next door on the seafront if you feel like eating out- Italian, Mediterranean, Indian, Seafood, and also a large supermarket only 10min walk away.
Considering the size of this hotel (82 bedrooms) it has a very well equipped Leisure Club including pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and modern gym. Although they are small, they are rarely overcrowded.
I always ask for the same room when I stay there which is in the newer block with side sea view- reception nearly always manage to get me in the room I want, but having stayed in other rooms (in the old block) on occasions, I found they are to the exact same standard just with different decor and a little larger. They all have same facilities- tea/coffee, iron/iron board, trouser press, TV, mini bar and toiletries.
All in all the Sunderland Marriott is a fantastic hotel, which I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone!-
