A lovely hotel just minutes from central Prague in a quiet area.

The hotel is located in the new town just about three minutes walk from a metro station. However it only takes about ten minutes to walk into old town. It is located between two major roads but noise from traffic isn't an issue beacuse most of the guests rooms seem to face an open sqaure of parkland. The rooms are quiet with little noise coming from other guests rooms of a night. The hotel was clean neat and tidy. When I arived the receptionist was courteous and helpful. She spoke a good level of English and suggested several items of interest in Prague that were worth seeing. The room was presented well and had a flat plasma TV and air conditioning as well as access to wifi internet. For those without their laptop there is a internet computer downstairs for no cost. The breakfasts were first rate with a wide selction to choose from both hot or cold. The bar was well stocked with again the bar attendant speaking good English. The left luggage room is at no cost and convenient. Would be happy to go back there again.

Fancy website!!
5 / 10
Apr 2009, J&L

PLEASE don't be fooled by the impressive website giving details of a 4-star hotel!!
After booking 3 months prior to the date of travel then being told a week before that there were no rooms available, I was delighted to be e-mailed saying we're being upgraded to a suite. Upon arrival they'd obviously done their best to find a room - a small one at the end of a corridor. Complaining to the almost-arrogant reception chap did little as 'the hotel was full'.
A great start to our mini-honeymoon!
Entering the room did little to lift our spirits; there were NO tea & coffee facilities (surely a basic for a 4 star?!), the TV was an ancient 14" portable and the carpet was from I-don't-know-what-year. Everything was dated & dark except for the bathroom which in fairness was clean & bright. The shower was ok except when other rooms wanted to wash at the same time as you - cue hours of cold water every day.
On the plus side, the breakfast was good with friendly & efficient staff. There's a jacuzzi & sauna that you hire exclusively which is a nice touch, but not enough to contra the bad points.
In short and with absolutely no exaggeration whatsoever, this hotel is nowhere near the standards that you get from a....wait for it......Travelodge over here. Seriously. I use hotels every week for work and PremierInn/Travelodge are FAR better for less than half the cost.
The website shows amazing images all very cleverly taken from the best angle; the rooms shown are very obviously the suites; the dingy & smoky bar is nothing like the swish photo on the site and the outside needs a good clean & paint.
I suggest that anyone visiting Prague (amazing place!) looks at a chain of hotels (Ramada, Radisson etc) rather than an independent one as the star-rating system over there simply cannot be relied upon. I chose this hotel from the website and feel silly that I seemed to have been conned. If you compare this to a UK hotel, I'd say it's nearer a 2 star.
Oh and don't forget to take soap/shower gel. We did and used the little bar in the bathroom to tide us over until we could buy some the next day, only to discover that it evidently is meant to last the whole week as it was never replaced!
Overall a disappointing hotel that I would recommend to anyone to steer clear of. Unless you like very slow lifts that break down as you're about to check out from the 5th floor...
General info: taxi to the airport is 30-50 mins depending on day & traffic - the hotel charged £25 via a 'dedicated' very friendly driver; taxi from town should be no more than 100 koruna but we were once charged 300 - be careful of AAA Taxis & check first; town is a 20 minute slow stroll; and most importantly try the strawberry pancakes in Como Restaurant - unbelievable!!
