We booked a double room for our stay after a wedding held at the hotel. We checked in and on first impressions our room was nice, Jasmine room 1. It wasn't until we came to get into bed that we noticed the springs on the bed were prominent and when trying to get... more

We have enjoyed a bargain break this June. Generally it’s very good. Food is of a high standard and the staff try hard. The swimming pool is good though the changing room is minimal. Our stay was spoiled by an intruder who gained access to our room in the early hours. We... more

I stayed at this hotel after booking it for my wedding. Whilst the wedding was being organised the management and most of the staff underwent many changes which did create some confusion, especially for our guests. However, the new staff were extremely helpful, kind and... more

Have just returned from a two night dbb stay at the Newby Bridge. Booked after looking at their own website which is really very economic with the truth. Not the luxury hotel it professes to be - tired, shabby, and with apparently nobody in charge. Staffed by young foreign... more

Take No Notice of the Brochure......The Hotel Looks Nothing Like It !!!!
We booked this hotel for 2nts dbb for our honeymoon. Walking up the stairs we noticed the place was filthy. On entering our four poster bedroom, we were amazed the bed fitted in the room. There was a damp smell and the room was cold. We asked for the heating to be put on and were told it didnt work. We were handed a very small electric fan heater, which was totally inadequate. The shower was full of dirt and grime, it was obvious this room had not recently been cleaned. The windows would not shut properly. We tried to fill the bath... more
Dont go ever
We booked the 3 night deal for £119 pp DBB, as recommended by a friend. We had the brochure and had looked at the website and it looked just the thing for a romantic anniversary weekend. Check in is 2.00pm onwards and our room was finally ready at 4.45pm. As we waited we heard 2 different couples ask to change rooms only to be told they were fully booked so the couples asked for the deposit back and left. By 5.00pm we were back in reception checking out. It does not look one bit like the brochure except maybe on the day they... more
Fantastic Value & Service!
Have just returned from a three night stay at the Newby Bridge hotel and would definitely go back. I was initially disappointed by first impressions. The hotel is set back from a busy road and it is noisy. However once I had checked in we were really impressed by the accommodation. We had booked the new "cottage" slightly set away from the main hotel which had really lovely fittings and bathrooms and flat screen TV. We had booked a "triple" and a double (for my mum) and although the "z-bed" was really uncomfortable - the room could not be... more
Lovely holiday!
We had three nights at the Newby Bridge Hotel, and we had a lovely time! The room was good, with great views of the garden, which looked especially good at night when it was lit up. The food, without exception, was beautiful - there were 6 of us away together, and not one of us had a bad course. Also had a family member who used the disabled room and it was excellent, the bathroom facilities top class. Will go back in the future.
LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! WELL, WELL, WELL, WE ARRIVED AT THIS HOTEL ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON, QUITE DISAPPOINTING FROM THE FRONT, IT IS OK TO PARK IF YOU HAVE A MINI! UNLIKE US!(4x4) GENERALLY NEEDED A TIDY UP AND A LICK OF PAINT HERE AND THERE, ALSO A BIT OF UPVC. Not to worry, got to the room and if i am honest i was quite disappointed again. The room was dark, and small, the bed was a little (drunk!!)ans we had the MAIN FIRE EXIT not only out of our room, but also into our room too!!!!!!!!!!!!. The bathroom was STUNNING,... more
Filthy Towers!!!
We booked a couple of nights 'luxury'and even paid a £20 supplement for a 'four poster bed' and jacuzzi bath. Never have we encountered such a filthy room.Having paid a deposit, we were shown to our 'luxury suite' only to find a cramped, dingy and dirty room with views over the kitchen bins and back yard. There was barely room to get in the bed and, on further investigation we discovered pubic hairs and other stains on the bedding. The carpet had not been hoovered and was generally dirty. The bathroom was grim, with clear glass in the... more
Excellent weekend
Stayed for a romantic weekend at Newby Bridge Hotel. Four poster bed with jacuzzi bath was fantastic. Food was excellent, staff very friendly. Hotel was spotless. An excellent stay to be recommended.
Lovely hotel
Have just returned from a short break at the Newby Bridge and it was fantastic. The bedroom was very clean and had everything that you would need with a beautiful view of the garden. The food was excellent, we had a lovely three course meal every evening and the breakfast buffet was also great - loads of choice. The service was friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble - the staff were brilliant. We had a young baby with us and he was well catered for. The location is great for seeing the Lakes as it is quite central and it was... more
pleasant stay
I read previous reviews about the hotel - the night before my husband and I were due to commence our journey. I was very wary about its different problems - wished I read them before booking the hotel. Anyway - thank God that it was better than I expected. It didn't smell musty for a start. We chose to have a room with four-poster bed + jacuzzi. It was located in the front of the hotel. Although we had the view of the lake, unfortunately it was also facing the main A road, hence, we had the traffic noise. Our room was cosy although old and... more
Friendly service but a real makeover needed
The service was excellent. Very friendly and efficient staff. Although the room was clean there was no colour co-ordination of decor. The lounge was in desperate need of an atmosphere and furniture "makeover", hence almost no-one uses it. The best feature of the hotel was the dinners which were beautifully served.
