Rothay Garden Hotel

Our second visit in 4 years. Our return booking was based on the previous standards. Nothing has dropped!. This hotel has the edge over other 4 star hotels in the north west, and far surpasses the average Lakeland hotel. Quality cuisine and wines, superb service and comfort in a good part of the Lakes.

Second time we stayed here, first since the renovation. The renovation was excellent visions of Grand Designs, fortunately it was the only thing that changed. The superb, staff service and food were just as good as before. When you consider the 3 days we were there were the wettest I think in 54 years, it was still 10/10. Will be going back again in April

I have just returned from a walking holiday staying at Rothay Garden Hotel and felt I had to write a review about the marvellous time I had staying there. The hotel has apparently recently been totally refurbished and my room still looked brand new. The decor is modern but not over the top with really good attention to detail. My bathroom gave me a choice of a walk-in shower or a bath but after going up and down the hills the bath won. This hotel has had major investment aimed at giving the guest an enjoyable stay and they have certainly succeeded. The staff could not do enough for you and the detail in the bedrooms meant that had I had black out curtains, an iron and ironing board which was easy to get out of the wardrobe, double washhand basins in the bathrooms and underfloor heating which is lovely if you have forgotten your slippers! My husband and I stayed at Rothay Garden for our 20th wedding anniversary and I can only say what a fantastic time we had. The standard of the rooms is superb likened only to the type that you would see in a top London hotel. The great thing about this hotel is unlike London the staff are very friendly and always willing to help whether offering advice on local walks or bus routes. My fiance and I stayed at Rothay after looking at many other options in the same area. Our room was the Grasmere which had lovely views across the gardens. This room is slightly more expensive than the standard rooms as it claims to offer more space. However I would not say the room is particularly spacious - enough room for a large double bed, wardrobe and dressing table but it has been decorated to a high standard with really nice soft furnishings and has a good size ensuite with bath and shower. The Rothay Garden Hotel Has Reccently Under Taken A 2.5 Million Pound Make Over, And It Really Does Show! As From The Minute We Arrived To The Moment We Left We Were Treated With Top Class Service. I Had Planned To Propose To My Girlfriend And The Staff Did Everything They Could To Help. I Spoke To The Hotel Manager Prior To My Stay And He Booked An Excellent Room Bye The River With Lovely Views Of The Hills. Where do I start? I believe that the Rothay Garden has just finished its alleged £2M refurbishment and on first impressions you get a feeling that a lot of time and money has been spent on this hotel. I’m afraid that as soon as you get passed the reception this is sure to dwindle and perhaps, as in my case, you may wish you had never encountered the hotel at all. My wife and I have just had a wonderful weekend break to celebrate my birthday and from the moment we walked into the hotel on the Friday afternoon until we left on Monday morning we were treated with the utmost courtesy and attention. We wanted a short stay for two with our dog as our children were on holiday elsewhere. Spoke to the owner to book the stay and he was around throughout the visit. Lovely location and the room we had was fantastic with a huge bath and a patio where we could sit out with the dog at the back of the hotel overlooking the river.
