Riverside Hotel

We arrived at hotel late afternoon and were told what room we would be in, and told where lift was that was it. When we got to room the bed was unmade all bedding on heap on top of bed. We then spoke to maid who informed us we would have to move as no sheetes for this room so we moved down 1 floor unaided again. The food was ok. After reading other reviews on the website I was a little worried about my trip away but on our arrival I was very pleasantly surprised. The hotel was fantastic, the staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for me, providing maps and directions to all the places we wanted to visit. The location of the hotel is perfect for a trip away in the lakes, as although all the walks and sights are just a few minutes drive away we were in the centre of the town with plenty of nightlife. We stopped at the hotel for the special 2 night deal which was £99 per night including bed, breakfast and evening meal. We arrived early so our room was not ready. We asked if there were any local attractions we could visit which were within walking distant and were told that the town centre was just up the road! Not the kind of responce that I was expecting. My partner and I stayed here for two nights.There was building work going on at the time,about which we were not forewarned,the car park was unfinished and and initial impressions were grim.Reception staff were pleasant enough and the room OK,if a little outdated,although the recently refurbished bathroom could not be faulted.The public areas,however,were rundown and grubby,particularly the mens' toilet on the ground floor which was so disgusting that I went back to the room to use the bathroom.We didn't have dinner,but did have breakfast... more

Was a bit depressed about the style of the hotel! The Brochure's pictures make the hotel look great! But in real life found it to be very depressing!! And yes we are taking into consideration that this hotel is only a 3Star but come on!! The Hotel would be a gold mine if it showed more attention to its furnishings!!
