When travelling abroad from Inverness Airport, we have stayed at the Fairways on two separate occasions. The first time we stayed we got a deal for £10 for the room – so we didn’t feel we could really complain, but we definitely got the impression that we paid for what... more

great base
from LINDA1812
Stayed here for 3 nights in March 2008. Having stayed in other Travelodge properties I knew what to expect. The family room we had was a good size and was very clean. The bed was a bit on the soft side for my taste but was comfortable enough. We used the room as a base for touring around the Inverness area and for what we required it was ideal. If you are looking for luxury this is not for you, but if you are looking for a good sized, clean room at a good price this is ideal
Terrible Value - even at special 'low' rate!
from cannicUk
On arrival we found the receptionist using a bedroom to eat a hot meal and watch TV - he used this room through that night - and we think he smoked in the room (presumably blocked off the smoke alarm?) - the corridor stank of cigarettes the next morning. He was having a cigarette by the exit the next morning. It was a shock to arrive in a room with no heated towel rail to dry your meagre towel allowance (apparently it is 'unsafe' to have a heated towel rail!!), and no bathmat for the floor (safety again.....!) and two pillows, and a duvet that stank so badly of sweat and mustyness I had to push it off to even attempt to sleep. Not that this was an option in the end - the springs on the 3" deep mattress (more cost saving) were so worn out that apart from creeaking terribly if you so moved even slightly, they were so uncomfortable it was impossible to find a way to lay in the bed - I had three bruises on my thighs the next morning! At 12.05, 12.20 and 12.55 am a charming lady decided to discuss the bed arrangements for various rooms with the receptionist - which apparently needed her to shout down the corridor with great gusto. In their obsession to save money they quote the silly safety claims as above, and there is no telephone in the room, no hairdrier and no alarm clock. No toiletries other than a cheap nasty mini-bar of soap. It was not enough to know we had paid an advance charge of only £29 - this was still appalling value. Goodness knows how cheated you would feel to turn up on spec and have to pay the quoted £51 cost for the night..................this hotel was appalling and not even good enough to say make do just for one night. I have fed back our experiences but not heard back from Travelodge - we have therefore cancelled a booking for April and will sleep in the car rather than use a Travelodge again - they have taken cost cutting just too far!
Excellent one night stay
from Ash_Black
My partner and I stayed at the Inverness Fairways for one night during a five day stay in Scotland. The location is very good and not far from the A9. You can order out for food (the local chinese is very good) and the rooms were well sized and comfortable.
love this place
from MrsS2012
my fiance and i love the highlands and either visit or pass through inverness sevral times a year.everytime we stay here.24 hour desk with friendly staff.rooms are basic but big and very comfortable.they do not serve evening meals in the hotel but are more than happy for you to order in no matter what the time.very good value for money.
Got a road atlas?
from Bunyip63
The hotel was basic, clean and comfortable, as expected from a budget chain. We had problems with locating it despite having a computerised mud-map - but that might have been our fault for not having a touring atlas with us, or because we came off the A-road too soon. However it seemed everytime we returned to the hotel, we overshot the mark and returned via a neighbouring village. Here is an interesting idiosyncrasy of this hotel. We booked two rooms between three persons, however on showering the next morning discovered we had only been given one bath towel per room. Easily fixed by running down the stairs to reception (no, not naked and dripping wet!) for another towel. When I mentioned this at reception they said this was usual practice. I guess if you frequent this hotel or chain, you would know to ask for additional bath towels when checking in.
Terrible Booking System
from cauldcoats
Rooms are standard, clean, fairly big but basic. Which is what travelodges are all about. However...they have a booking system that beggers belief. The hotels can not take a booking, you have to use an appalling voice recognition service which is terrible! I tried booking a room in Edinburgh but the nonsense of a computer at the other end insisted I stay in Canterbury???? It puts me off ever booking with them again, which is a shame because I quite like the hotels.
Great deal at the TravelodgeFairways Inverness
from marnie_g2001
I booked a 1 night stay on the Travelodge website. We knew that we would be arriving later at night and just wanted a comfortable clean room. At 29 pound a night the Travelodge was perfect. The room and bathroom were clean, neat and fairly basic. We booked in and headed out into Inverness to eat at a nice restaurant. Travelodge Fairways is a little way out of the city centre if you don't have a car. Breakfast at the Golf Club was quite good - not anything special -we enjoyed chatting to the great young couple who run the restaurant at the Clubhouse.
Good value budget hotel accommodation.
from Shropshirelad66
This hotel provides exactly what Travelodge aims to do and does it very well. Room was very clean and comfortable...good size, plenty of hanging space, tv, wi-fi enabled, tea/coffee making facilities and a good size bathroom. Staff were efficient and courteous and there was plenty of parking which was covered by CTTV cameras. Location was quiet and peaceful on a business park a couple of miles out of city centre. It was quite a new Travelodge and we only paid £26 a night by advance booking so an absolute bargain!
Below average for a Travelodge
from UKTouristScotland
We have stayed in a few Travelodges and although the rooms are basic, with few amenities, they are generally acceptable accommodation for the price. This one, however, was not up to the usual standard. The girl who checked us in barely glanced at us and the room itself was in need of a fresh coat of paint - and new beds as the springs were almost bursting through our one. It was in a quiet location, and town was only a short drive away, but I don't think I'd be using this particular Travelodge again.
Somewhat disappointed
from PghTraveler36
The room had no ice, hairdryer, or bathmat (they claim that bathmats are unsafe). We couldn't call the front desk from our room. Also, we couldn't use phone cards. The phone was unusable unless you swiped a credit card or hooked in a PC. The TV remote didn't work. They claim that they don't provide amenities in order to keep costs down, but of the 10 places we stayed in Great Britain this price was average. The hotel doesn't include any meals but it's beside a golf course with a restaurant. The room was clean and nice.

We were staying for a weekend away. We just wanted something basic so we picked out the Travelodge as we were going to be away mostly from the hotel. We were a little apprehensive as you get what you pay for. We were glad we were out most of the day. The room was large... more
