The marmite hotel
from SnowballNewcastle
I read all the reviews for this hotel and it seemed a marmite hotel some loved it and others hated it but we decided to take the risk. We got a 2 night package with free evening meal on the first night stopping in a premier plus room. We had a faultless stay regarding room, service and the food. Having looked around the hotel its clear you get what you pay for, the premier plus are the newest rooms so everything was immaculate, no stains, no peeling wallpaper and no thread bare carpet ! However, passing some of the budget rooms they...

what a shame
from badger54
what a shame as this hotel is in quite a lovely setting on the lake, but badly needs a refit, the front of the hotel is right on the road edge and looks quite nice...but we approached it from the car park side...oh my god....it was so run down l nearly never got out of the car....but friends had bought us this break as a present.....so l got out....then l found out no lift in the building and had to climb 3 very steep stairs cases to book in...our room was a premium delux over looking the lake and at the prices our friends paid we expected a...

Run down and expensive
from SV_London_01
As many have said, a great location but really very disappointing, tired and shabby hotel. I've stayed in a couple of Richardson hotels, and both suffer the same faults. When asked on leaving if we enjoyed stay, I said that I thought it was over-priced and the hotel worn out. " Ah yes, but did you see the new wing" No I didn't and why should I pay through the nose while 'they' repair it! Plus side: View, comfy chairs in lounge, swimming pool. Down side: Over priced (we paid £168 for a double on a Friday), Tired and...

A memorable experience.
from Susie-fox
We enjoyed a very pleasant 2 day stay at the Beech Hill Hotel in August this year (2007). I booked the hotel for its location, set into the hillside of Lake Windermere with panoramic views across the Lake and a touch of luxury. When making the booking I requested a family room with panoramic lake views and thus reserved a select twin bedded en-suite room with extra bed. Our room exceeded all expectation. It was smaller than expected (the brochure illustrates palatial rooms) but very clean and comfortable. The modern décor was tasteful...

Absolute Disgrace
from dignity40
Booked our honeymoon there ! Too many complaints ! Disgraceful is all we can say, Service, Staff, and the room, mold on the curtains stains on bedding etc etc. Needless to say never again. When asked about stay at end of visit voiced our complaints to no avail. I wanted honeymoon to be an event to remember it was if only for the awful hotel.
A fabulous, great value summer stay
from jamesv01
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Beech Hill Hotel; our room was very spacious and bigger than we expected with 1 double bed, 1 single bed and bunk beds and there was only 3 of us! It also had a sofa and chair and large balcony overlooking the majestic Lake Windermere. The bathroom is clean and stocked with toiletries and towels. You also get plenty of tea/coffee making facilities and if you run out they are re-stocked immediatley. Room Service wasn't fast, but very good quality when it arrived. The breakfast at the hotel was...

Summer Break
from Patsy02
My husband and I booked this as a last minute holiday and we were very pleasantly surprised! The hotel was in a great location - close to the towns but still offering peace and quiet. We had an up-graded room ( which we did not expect given our cheaper booking)and the view was wonderful. The staff were very helpful without being too obtrusive. We did not eat in the restaurant as we were out and about most days and the menu seemed a bit too rich for our taste. However breakfast was wonderful!I read some of the other reviews and was quite...

My wife & I stayed at the Beech Hill Hotel en-route to visiting family in Scotland. After a long drive from Berkshire we were extremely unimpressed with the 'classic double room lake view'. We are lucky enough to have travelled extensively both in the UK & abroad and were... more
